I made this tonight for dinner. Was delicious. Luckily I had everything to grind my own five spice. Turned out really good

Gave it a try today. Excellent. Still thinking that needs a little bit more something to freshen it up during serving. Might try fresh thai basil and/or lime juice / shavings next time. Definitely adding this to my recipes.

Great recipe! Love all that sauce. As a diabetic, I have to cut out the sugar from most recipes....and there is a LOT of "hidden" sugar in many Chinese recipes.

It’s beyond an umami bomb…that dark soy is all I taste. Needs some moderation.
@WooCanCookАй бұрын
Oh no! I would recommend diluting the sauce with a little bit of water, then adding it in in batches of about 3-4 tbsp at a time, to taste. The dark soy sauce and bean paste are both quite concentrated, so if you throw it all in, it could definitely become overpowering
@thomascondon9549Ай бұрын
I will admit, I try to follow your recipe but it’s not apparently printed and I was trying to follow the video…that was hard for an old foodie like me.
@thomascondon9549Ай бұрын
Made it. Needs sweetness. Thoughts?

Terrific recipe! My only comment is that a couple of the ingredients I have zero experience finding or using. But (sigh) I will try this with what I have (which is many Asian sauces and pastes already in my larder.

Amazing Wes, thanks. I feel that Sichuan is underrated in the uk, I don't know many people that have it as their go-to in a restaurant or takeaway. I use a lot of cloves, star anise and chillies in Indian dishes so I'm used to the intensity. People need to expand their horizons.
