OK lah, the pomfret is expensive nowadays, around RM60-80 per m=kg at the market depending on size. Actually order the stingray is also very good and cheaper a bit.

I have no idea... I hardly eat crab because I am lazy to peel them, in fact I don't usually eat prawns either! LOL Unless my wife peels for me hahahaha... but basically crabs are very expensive now, anywhere you go.

Those red prawn and mao shan wang are very beautiful , bright in color . Quite satisfied to see the quality . Need to drink lots of water, bro . Sometimes people easily get fever or sore throat after eating

Yes so far these were the best durians I had so far this season, especially the red prawn. So bitter and complex flavours!

Maybe after the durians, you should have some « cooling » fruits to balance the ying-yang in your body… I’m just curious. As usual, thank you for sharing your day to day life in Penang. Hehehehe I was wondering if someone would notice that, I meant it as a joke because I mentioned that the eatery was opposite the "Kheng Hoe Bar" in Air Itam. Kheng Hoe Bar used to be a sleazy pub with women who drank with you for tips. Of course today it no longer operates as such but is a small coffeeshop instead. LOL I am glad you noticed!

There are nice durian resellers in Singapore who can guarantee quality durians, but you have to pay a premium. It's nice to be able to head straight to the source.

Actually for Singapore durians, you guys get it under 24 hours! I did talk to one of the farms and they export to Singapore, he said the lorries which transport the durians are faster than express buses! They make sure the durians collected in Penang are zoomed to Singapore as soon as they are loaded. I guess they want to make sure the quality is reflective of the price!

Looks good! We don't get Capri in Singapore so I am curious how is it like. Have you counted how many durians you had since the season began? I think you had so much that at this stage if you get pricked, you bleed durian!

They don't ship Capri to Singapore? I didn't know that. Some farmers did tell me Capri isn't as popular because visually it isn't appealing. The fruit is smaller and rounder, and the flesh is an uninteresting pale beige. And yes, I think I have eaten the most durians ever this season!

I don't think this particular farm does, the owner and his family lives there. I have seen people staying at Bao Sheng which is too expensive for me, but it is a beautiful place. Along the Teluk Bahang Road there are a few glamping spots you may like, such as Boulder Valley (maps.app.goo.gl/ZAKkJZSk1Ad4vS4Z7 ) or you can also look at Karuna Hill (maps.app.goo.gl/he5r799QdZrreT3q6 ) at Balik Pulau which I have been to, it is beautiful.

Yup bro, bring your children for outings more often for there are a lot to learn from Nature. I recalled, a child when asked where does rice grains come from and he answered, the Supermarkets 🤔 I was 🤤 away seeing you enjoying the Capri. As I've said, if not for its pearly white coloured arils, Capri would've been a Champion too. The farm owner has been kind to allow filming thus, no worries about the address etc. Thank you for sharing your family weekend outings. You're, indeed a Durian Lover, bro 😎

@@oneboonkeng1008 Thanks bro, actually after chatting with the owner I found out it isn't easy managing a farm, and how much effort and money they put into it. He recently spent a lot of money on special lighting equipment to reduce pests because he insists on not using those heavy pesticides. Durians are expensive and any losses due to worms and animals could reduce their income drastically.

Oddly enough, no one really knows. The original mother tree died in the 60's and the owner never told anyone why he gave it their name. Thankfully they had managed to graft new trees from the original tree before it died and its legacy lives on. The durian is very unique, and the flesh is pale white, which does not usually appeal to durian lovers so it isn't as popular as Musang King or Red Prawns varieties.
