Why did you feel alpha’s were too thick? I just received the circadians and I’m not used to barefoot shoes so I find my feet hurt walking in them and wondering if I should switch to alphas or just get used to it?

I’m thinking of quitting coffee. Actually, I kind of quit the culture a while ago after going on disability. So coffee doesn’t really suit my slower lifestyle. Nevertheless, I increased my caffeine intake after a debilitating shoulder injury that my doctor misdiagnosed. I was in pain for 8 months and didn’t take any medication but coffee. I have slowly decreased my intake since January and it’s possible now. I’m 43 and I have been drinking coffee every day since I was about 17. I like to imagine that life will feel softer without the daily jolt. I’m also just kind of tired of doing the same thing over and over, of factoring coffee into things… My two ex-boyfriends were both massive coffee addicts and I’m kind of interested in leaving it in the past for that reason also. You could try hot chocolate! I found that drinking hot chocolate helped me to drink less coffee in the wintertime. Now it’s summertime and I’m still drinking it a few times weekly. I just don’t finish the full mug, in the warmer season.

Have you tried olukai ohana sandals. They are naturally wide toe box and zero drop. Considering you do less adventuring and more long distance walking, try considering them as i believe they would fit your use case. Sure... they aren't explicitly marketed as minimalist. In form and function they are though. The best thing that the minimalist movement has brought attention to is (1)a foot shaped footbed and (2) zero drop. But, I'm not convinced zero midsole, zero arch support and ground feel are as much as a priority to our health or comfort as they make it out to be.

I have a similar problem. I have refined my routine and my way of living so much that just one thing out of kilter or one slight change of routine, or a change in noise routine from my neighbours can ruin it. Making the perfect routine is great until something even temporarily messes it up and then everything becomes chaos. I am definitely less resilient than I used to be.
