Do are tax $ give a good return to American citizens? President Trump pointed out that united states tax it's population to send $ over seas . Does this benefit the American citizens?

Love Thomas Sowell! But he must have still been annoyed by singing Stom Thurmund, even though in this case Strom Thurmund agreed with him.

Seeing Strom Thurmund. Because deep down Strom Thurmund couldn't stand seeing an educated African American.

There is Non-sense here: Sowell rejects the discrimination that African-Americans & their politicians claim exists in USA. But insists that it exists in India. This is BS. Wrongly quoting Caste system for political gain is the real issue. All Indians insist on caste system only for marriages and Not for commercial day to day dealings. I am aware of a Hindu girl eloping with a guy outside her caste. Her parents got a sympathetic cop to help them kidnap their daughter back and later married her to a christion family who continue with their caste system. Religion is different but caste continues.

Imagine what things would be like if we hadn't done precisely the opposite of this man's advice. That would be a country I'm truly proud of and a future I'm excited for. My hope is that when we reach a point where the gig is finally up and our taxes can no longer pay for even the minimum payments on our national debt and the spenders hit a wall we will have enough people to eliminate government spending and create a negative income tax. Just maybe when it's the only choice we can afford it's the choice we will make. That time is coming soon. Tell anybody who will listen about Milton Friedman and smart economics.

I don’t understand why they had to make it all about race right out of there gate. I thought I was watching something from normal times…but it’s just like today! Luckily Sowell goes beyond race and focuses on merit, excellence and responsibility. Things that truly matter and make a difference

How does debt shrink the money supply? You are taking out money that would ordinarily be invested into the economy (which would end up buying capital goods) and you end up investing that money in government spending, most of which goes towards govt. Employees or welfare. So you are turning money that would be invested into money that will be spent by its recipients (govt. Workers and welfare recipients). Inflation is in its effect the reduction of purchasing power of the currency, and you actively cause that when you turn investment money into consumer spending. The only way (in my opinion) for debt to reduce money supply would be if the treasury stockpiled all the money it borrowed. Even if my assumptions about debt spending creating more consumer spending is wrong, the only thing debt spending does is move a bunch of money around. How does this reduce the money supply?

At about 21 minutes in, Rose tries to paint it as a conspiracy theory that all these people in different influential positions should reach the same wrong conclusions. Not only does Sowell's work--particularly his trilogy on the subject--explain why it isn't a conspiracy, but if you are more interested in the dynamics, watch Tucker Carlson's interview with Curtis Yarvin where he explains the idea of.what he calls the cathedral. If you combine Yarvin and Sowell you get a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Throw in James Lindsay's thorough deep dive into the specifics of leftist ideology--particularly in education and "theory"--and you will have the complete picture.

The only miss that ocurred was around 20:00 when he says that the difference in result is to be explained culturually. It is important to mention that in the case of gender (men and women) the differences are primarily explained by biology as the root reason, and this question (cultural or biological) is perhaps the biggest question today in politics.

Friedman once made an astute observation about the cultural component of an economy. Responding to someone who said, look how the Swedes are among the richest of peoples under socialism. Friedman said, yes, and Swedish-Americans are among the richest in capitalist America. In other words, certain cultures can succeed despite the drag of socialist policies, viz those with a historical work ethic and relatively honest government, such as northern European Protestant societies and east Asian societies.

11:55 There's a three-word lexicon that explains the tax economy: need, greed and compassion. Need now means wanting someone else's money, greed means wanting to keep your own and compassion is the sentiment of the politician who wants to arrange the transfer.

The 3 questions which always dismantle the Collectivists aka Democrats aka Progressives; 1. What is the alternative? 2. How much does it cost? 3. What are the results? Thomas Sowell says he learned these 3 from Milton Friedman.

As someone who started teaching 6 months ago and just resigned last week, I agree with Thomas Sowell, but his view is a little outdated. For instance, he trusts that parents today are good enough judges for their children’s education. Many parents are actually the ones who want their children to be passed along and will bully schools into lowering standards. However, I theorize that this is the case because the parents today are products of everything Sowell was pointing out in these videos. Education in America is broken.

Well.. Yes - if we did not have social programs people would not depend on them... they would be more poor and starving ... to d......... they could not even afford to go to the doctor... ... Compare Nordic countries ( with generous social benefits ) and the US ? Which country has more poverty and crime ?

…one of the many things I respect and admire about Dr. Sowell, and there are many, is that he’s always patient and willing to respectfully listen to the other side of a question and to other points of view, and he really listens before opining, until his ‘junk-debunk meter registers and goes off ..and pegs out… lol! ..gotta love him!
