Wow. I really enjoyed this video.I’m painting along with you on this one. I followed the 3 rules of color values and depth of field theory. I like the magenta color.Of course I always tend to go a little crazy with the colors once I get started.haha. Thanks again and thank you for the tip on the 70 percent alcohol. I’m still working through some issues with where to put my neutrals and the extra dark pastels…I can’t identify the dark colors real well but I’m working on it.Thank you for your help. I’m not sure, I may be a patron, I got your email and I wanted to let you know that I am not very good with computers yet. I am however really enjoying your videos and learning a little at a time.Sometimes I thank the Lord for just a little knowledge at a time and other times I get somewhat frustrated.It’s like I learn something and then the next week or so I feel like I’m not progressing as much as I want.The main thing is I thank HIM for blessing me with joy and peace eternal life and a healthy passion for art.Thanks again and bye for now.

I'm not surprised they're obscenely expensive, they're so vibrant and saturated that they're almost hurting my eyes, and I'm only looking at them on a pretty crappy smartphone screen!

Did you apply fixative to those original pastel paintings that you were able to wash off later? Wondering whether fixative affects the removal?

Some of the paintings you are re-purposing are beautiful 😍 it makes me sad 😢 you are washing them off, but art is a very personal thing, so I understand you want to update them with your developed style

Yup. Especially if it was especially boring and on expensive paper. Just make sure to dry it on a flat surface and it's good to go.

Wouldn't it wreck the paper surface and tooth? Watercolor paper is formulated with sizing so it can be submersed in water and stay the same but dry media papers aren't like that

These are older paintings of mine that don’t really represent my style anymore. It’s nice to be able to reuse these surfaces to create a new painting.

Nice tutorial. I was most happy at the end of the video when you mentioned that you almost quit soft pastels because it was so frustrating. I learned that it is normal. I too "almost quit" (Almost decided to give my soft pastel set away). Thanks so much for mentioning that one will get better with lots of practice.

Love pan pastels and I’ve not used the tray for them; I’ll have to buy that. BTW Ingres is pronounced “aang-gruh.” Great tutorial!
