I don't get where the lure is an what its doing. Are you just dragging it on the floor? Or is it so light it just hovers mid water? It seems there is no action in the lure, yet the fish still take it.
@reellures27703 сағат бұрын
Hi, I vary how I retrieve the lure. Sometimes I leave it on the bottom, sometimes mid-water. It might not show in the video but I do put quite a bit of movement into the very small lures through the rod tip.

Hi, could you tell me what line and trace you use for bfs if there is pike in the venue, cause i getting smashed by pike all the time and I dont like leaving hooks in fish. Thanks
@reellures2770Күн бұрын
Hi, I use 6lb braid and I use an 8lb single wire titanium trace. I use AGM lures for micro lure clips and swivels, making a trace the same way you would for big pike just scaling it right down. I think the titanium is Cahira Nitinol, I buy a few metres at a time for a few pounds.

I was fishing a difficult to get to lake in northern Ontario. I used a variety of lures to no avail. I tried a Suick 7 inch and tossed it on the surface. I let it sit for 15 seconds or so and then twitch it ever so slightly like a dying fish. The pike would break the surface to get that Suick. It got so I was catching a pike with every cast. No monsters but 26 to 30 inchers. Explosive heart stopping splashes. Several times a pike would miss the lure and would come completely out of the water, entering the water and spinning around to try again.
@reellures277017 күн бұрын
Hi, in terms of lures I’ve used the Suick is definitely up there with the most bizarre 😁, but it works. You cannot beat that top water strike, especially if you’re lucky enough to get near a decent sized fish.

Nice session, mate. If you want to catch some perch, go for cheb rigged TPR lures ( tanta, polaris, crays, etc.). TPR and TPE lures are floating, and if you keep them on the bottom, they are staying in a vertical position. Perch is mad at the moment on canal. 1 gram cheb you can cast easily with your Alde, and you don't need Avail or Roro spool.

@@reellures2770 perch and pike are what I am after, I kept casting lures and soft plastics into snags and underhangs and it was so difficult. Went on a couple of stretches featured in your vlogs. We fished different lures, soft plastics, crank baits, spinner baits and many more. We fished with monkey lures and spin mad grubs. Not a dicky bird. We fished from 7am to 4pm. What where we doing wrong🤯🤯🤯
@reellures27702 ай бұрын
Oof - that’s a long stretch with no bites. I’m almost certain you weren’t doing anything wrong. I’ve found that weather seems to be the biggest influence. While the water is still cool I’m fishing on the bottom most of the time. If it’s sunny then I’ll fish the shady spots. I’ll do my best to avoid boat traffic. Honestly I rarely fish for longer than 2-3 hours, if I don’t get a bite relatively quickly I’ll move on. I am going to try a couple of evening sessions this week to see if I can get anything out closer to home. If I can turn it into a video I’ll try and explain what I’m doing I a bit more detail 👍

Nice looking little mini paddle tails but pretty pricey at £8.99 for 12, especially for someone fishing on a budget like myself. When it comes to soft plastics I would really like to buy British, but I get most of mine from China now because they are cheaper and you generally get more per pack
@reellures27702 ай бұрын
Yes I know what you mean. I will say that the quality of these lures is high, I’ve still got 4 or 5 of the blue and white colour that I bought probably 3 or 4 years ago. You’ve given me an idea though, maybe I could do a comparison with an equivalent style at a much lower price point. The reason I like the lures is the action, they work like a soft plastic spinner. I haven’t yet come across another that works in the same way.

But I'd love to keep fishing during these two months . Obviously anyone of your subscribers can answer this too . Thankyou
@reellures27702 ай бұрын
Hi, I don’t tend to fish with bigger pike lures during that time. I think this time around I switched to ultra light gear around mid-February. I have obviously caught pike after that point, but typically I’m catching the much smaller actively feeding fish. The other point to make is that although I do catch small pike I’m not specifically targeting them, believe it or not I’m usually trying to find perch 😁. In terms of general guidance there is no closed season on the canal I fish, using lures, dead baiting is not permitted out of season. I regularly fish specific areas so I do get a sense of when fish activity is changing, that’s also something you can apply to your local area. 👍
