Howdy, honestly I'd just go with the default weapon loadout for 3.23 - they changed the way gimbals work so I'd basically just use the m-series cannons they have on by default or if you wanted faster weapon projectiles I'd go with omniskies

Hahaha this was only like my 3rd attempt to land on the Idris, I honestly didn't expect I'd actually succeed. After this, I tried at least like 10+ more times (kitted out) and haven't even gotten close lol. The ship and its wingmen just obliterate me on approach, and the window where the hangar door is open seems to be quite small.

Haha yeah the game is actually pretty good outside of events with my setup, but this event brought the fps down a bit and definitely had huge lag spikes for various things. The servers just couldn't cope

I prefer to think of it as 11/10 plot armor

don't even need to drop. when in loot mode - use Tab and then double-click the shit out of everything

Thanks! I did this towards and the end of the video but it ended up being my undoing. When dropping my undersuit off I forgot I was dropping my ammo, and that started the chain of events leading to me getting taken out lol. Still great fun and I'm trying hard to get back on board another Idris!

Yeah this is what I should've done. I couldn't figure out how to get into the armor-looting mode. Given that they made looting take up the whole damn screen you think they could've made a text-based button to make it idiot proof, but I guess I'm just too advanced of an idiot.

Thanks, I tried for many hours after this to re-board an idris, now that I know a bit more of where I'm going and I'll be a bit calmer in my FPS looting and shooting, but no luck so far.

oh yeah they were basically stationary for half the time, but I'm thankful for it in this case b/c otherwise I would've died before even getting out of my ship. Not sure how you're supposed to survive slowly climbing down the ladder out of your cockpit while in the middle of a freaking hangar full of enemies lol. You think your player would have a "yeet yourself the F out of the ship and into cover" option for exiting the ship for these kind of scenarios :D

looting is hard, ok!!!

Normal one is called lead pip. For lag pip, you're focusing on putting a lagging indicator of the predicted impact point on top of your target, so you're focusing your eyes on your target itself so you can see when it's moving around and turning and whatnot. With lead pip, you're looking "in front" of your target to lead your shots, oftentimes at some random spot in space away from the enemy itself, so you're slower to react to things like them rotating around and getting ready to move in a different direction.

if you were doing any exploits or breaking any rules they probably banned you, there was a wave of over 600 accounts banned for doing that kind of stuff. I think I heard somewhere that it was a 3 month ban though, so the account isn't lost, but I can totally understand that it'd leave a really crappy taste in your mouth.

They're both about the same I'd say. The STY has a better capacitor and a lot more missiles which helps it put out more dps but the defender is a smaller target and feels a bit more stable when partially damaged. If I had multiple ships I'd probably go for the STY but if I didn't I'd probably go for the defender since it also has an interior and a bed, whereas the STY is just a seat in the cockpit and nothing more.

I don't really pvp too much but I'd probably go for bulldog/badger/panther/etc repeaters instead of omniskys. Omniskys have slower projectile speed than the cf-series repeaters so it'll be easier to land your shots with the faster weapon projectile speeds

most ships can do HRTs without too much trouble, but a medium or heavy fighter like a hornet or vanguard will be able to do HRTs without much trouble. Something like a constellation or a corsair will make it easy-mode

Yeah I wouldn't bother with distortion right now, you'd just be giving up a weapon slot for something that has very minimal utility. better to just put a laser weapon there instead

Missiles have become incredibly inconsistent in 3.23 so the retaliator is nowhere near as good as it used to be, but you can still hit and one-shot VHRT targets with it. When I went out trying I was hitting probably just over half of my torps, and they were still 1-shotting all enemies except the 890Jump (but that's an ERT target)

you're right, but gimbals are also pretty much useless now lol. You don't get auto-gimbal anymore as a pilot, so you can just sort of aim your guns slightly off center while piloting in the precision targeting mode if you change your gimbal modes. I haven't found a use for it yet, so even though you have gimbals they're basically just for show.

That's the thing in your ship that powers your boost, shields, and energy-based weapons.

A lot of this is still valid, in fact I'd say the majority of it is. Ship combat has changed a lot in 3.23 with master modes but the systems behind bounty hunting and ranking up haven't. yeah I'm really bummed about their decision to do that. And I'm afraid that the mk1 hornets are going to become outdated due to them not generating anymore sales for CIG (I know CIG says they're committed to keeping them updated but just look at how badly outdated the Sabre Raven got until they made the Firebird variant that they could make money off of)

Sorry for the delayed response to your question, but I'd go for either a Corsair or a Constellation. You want something with a lot of big guns b/c DPS is king now in the current patch since they made running away harder to do.
