It seems to me that crypto and NFTs gain new followers by being too complicated for the average person to fully comprehend the value proposition and how they work. These new followers just assume "well that sounds really complex and if these people selling the idea understand it, they must be really smart so I should listen to them." I'd love to learn if there have been past schemes that have operated in the same way, like during the early tech bubble or even before the digital age.

However, we don't know what/where the borders of our universe are. That little bit gnaws at me for asserting something we don't know is fact. It may be, however unlikely, that the Milky Way is located at the "center," as it were, but we do not have the capability of determining that, since we can not see the edges. Again, I am almost certain it is not. Not even relatively. I can't prove it though and, as far as I am aware, neither can anyone else. The Flat Earther's are crazy and pretty stupid, even in this. Holy shit, I figured it out. I know what they think is happening. It’s so simple and so stupid, it didn’t occur to me. It all goes back to Heat Lamp. So, the whole thing revolves around a very simple dilemma. In January of 2021, the shorts needed to close their position. The apes believe they owned at least an overwhelming majority of the shares. And yet the shorts, besides Melvin, were largely able to cover their position. So the question is simple, if the shorts need to buy, but the apes aren’t selling, what are the shorts buying to cover their position? That’s what Heat Lamp is for, they’re taking real shares off the market, and putting in fake shares. The shorts can buy those fake shares to cover their position, even if the apes aren’t selling. THAT’S why they need DRS, to prove that, unlike the shorts, they own the real shares. THAT’S why they think it wasn’t DFV, they think the shorts needed to essentially do the charade again, take some of the real shares off the market and inject a new supply of fake shares. THAT’S why they’re saying that the shorts never closed, that they’re “kicking the can down the road”. They think they own fake shares, and are still in a precarious position if the scheme were to be revealed, and are trying to slowly cover their position over time, leading to a convincing perception of propriety, while engaging in fraud. Holy shit that is dumb. _Unimaginably_ stupid. I’m mad at myself for being able to figure it out, because I think it says something uncharitable about me. THAT’S why they’re undeterred and think they only need to keep buying shares, even through the dilution of the stock, because the true silver bullet is revealing the fraud. But yeah, I think I got it. Unless an ape explains to me that I’m wrong, I’m gonna assume this is the scenario rattling in their brains. I hope you can correct me on this if I’m wrong, comrade kxv.
@bigchungus6827Күн бұрын
I still don't think get what the principles of heat lamp was, at least as presented in the vid. Is it just that hedgies are selling real shares for profit then covering the share debts with "fake shares" to avoid having to pay them back? What does this have to do with a heat lamp?
@Arrakiz666Күн бұрын
@@bigchungus6827 As I understand, in the analogy, the shares are burger patties put under a heat lamp waiting for the people to buy them (the short sellers). They arrive, but they don’t want to buy them (“I guess they’re vegetarian”). Wall Street then takes those patties, and replaces them with synthetic ones that the shorts can buy for cheap to cover their position. That is an incredibly butchered analogy, but that’s what I think it’s supposed to mean. The only way we know if my read is wrong is if an ape corrects me on this.
@bigchungus6827Күн бұрын
@@Arrakiz666 I don't think most of *them* know how their analogies work either, even ignoring that cooking burgers under a heat lamp sounds like pure misery, but if I'm understanding that correctly, the end result is that wall street is replacing all outgoing shares with synthetic ones and keeping all the real ones for themselves? I've rewritten this reply probably like four or five times now, since I still can't come up with a reasonable explanation of how this all pans out. Best I can attempt is they're driving gamestop and other companies into the red since they're covering short positions by shares they bought that they didn't pay gamestop for buying but something just feels wrong about that explanation for me.
@Arrakiz666Күн бұрын
@@bigchungus6827 It's not that they didn't pay GameStop for them, that would be too simple. They're just not paying _as much as they should._ It's a presumed strategy to avoid the squeeze, it exists to explain why the price didn't keep climbing and climbing after it reached 480$ per share. They essentially created fake shares that the shorts could buy instead of paying the apes for theirs, that's it. And I'd wager you're struggling to get it because it's just as stupid as it sounds. It goes down a little smoother if you cut out all the other noise and stop considering the myriad ways in which this scheme makes no sense from the get-go. If you just consider the simple, core question "shorts needed to buy, apes didn't sell, why price go down?", this is the answer. And it almost sounds reasonable, in it's childish simplicity.
@bigchungus6827Күн бұрын
@@Arrakiz666 Fair enough, I just can't really mentally move past the fact that there's like eight realistic explanations for "why price go down" and the proposed one borrows aspects from none of them and is largely based around being entirely impossible.

I actually don't understand the lack of common sense in so many people. The ground/sea goes up in your line of sight with distance, anything above the horizon goes down in your line of sight. The so called curvature at 3 miles is just your line of sight an approximate six foot height, this line of sight decreases the lower and lower you get, obviously not curvature causing it. See how you can zoom in to boats not visible to the eye by using camera equipment and see how a wave can obscure a whole boat at distance which would not happen if the boat was 10ft away: Explaining How Waves, Swells & Tides Hide the Bottoms of Boats/City Skylines to the Globe Faithful

If the system stands to lose everything if the apes win, why would it respect its own rules once that means the apes would win?
@bogdanlevi2 күн бұрын
I'm not sure that most of them really believe in the far extremes of the theory. It's probably more of an "extremes inform the means" type of mentality. What a lot of them really expect is somewhere between nothing and the true MOASS. Let's say their theory is wrong, but not hugely wrong. They own 80% of the float, the "true" short interest is 300% and the company is about to turn a large profit. In that scenario, the price doesn't go to infinity, but it can go towards tens of thousands of dollars, and they'll be happy to take their money then. A few short funds will fall, but not enough damage will be done to just straight up ignore the law.
