My 1994 Triumph Thunderbird 900 hits Rome (and an 850km ride from Brindisi to Florence).
This episode is a little longer than usual. I started early from Brindisi, on the road for around 6am. Arriving and leaving Brindisi in the dark did seem a bit wrong. The town looked really lovely and I kind of wanted to stay and explore a bit - due to the weather condition though I had to get moving to avoid the incoming rain!
What a day though, the lovely Italian countryside and the good roads. What they say about Italian drivers isn't entirely true, I found them to be quite pleasant, even in Rome. I did get the death stare from a moped rider - I managed to record that on my 360 camera. It looked like he wanted to attack me or something! It was probably just his resting face...
Riding around Rome was amazing, a great way to see the city actually.
I eventually made it to Florence where I timed it perfectly for my friend Ed's birthday meal. I had no idea it was his birthday so I didn't have anything with me! It was lovely to see his family after so many years though.
As usual the Thunderbird was a complete tank and didn't miss a beat!

I’m glad you didn’t go overboard with the 360. Some KZfaqrs overdo it with grossly distorted images which make me feel queasy - yours has been edited just right in context with what you want to show on the trip rather than just for the sake of a gimmick. 👍🏻

Yea, to be honest I'm not really into it. It has it's uses, and worked well in Rome, but I'm not into the weird angles at all. Prefer the GoPro angle and image quality when it comes to action cams.

I find when you’re out on a road trip it’s easy to drift in and out. Meaning most of the time you’re fine, and sometimes you feel lost and lonely. I take each day as it is and thank god for my health and those in my life. Great series and keep it up.

Very true mate, my experience exactly. Being alone on a bike for long periods of time is almost like a monastic thing. You're sat there with nothing more to do than think. It does me a lot of good, even though it can be a lonely thing at times.

Great footage on this Italian leg of your journey, those birds you saw could have been starlings, they gather to roost on winter afternoons, the grouping is called a Murmuration, we see them in the UK too. Ride safe 👍🏻

This video is a bad example for all riders..., especially as you're in a city you don't know. Should you get bowled off the bike, for whatever reason, you instinctly try to catch your fall with your hands. If you have both hands bandaged up, who are you gonna ask to wipe your ar** the next time you need a sh**? Sorry for the Headmaster's lecture, but safety on a bike lays very close to my heart. Wearing Gloves is just as important as a Helmet..., at all times and, potentially thousands will watch this video! I've been here from the get-go, when you first announced your plans for this trip, and i've loved every minute of it so far. I especially like your conservative way of using the 360 cam and your way of editing to produce a video that keeps us (or me at least) watching out for the next episode. Thanks for all so far, roll on Day 5.

I consider myself chastised! Thanks for the comment my friend, and your clean, respectful left hook! Last thing I want to be is a bad example for other riders. In my defense my hands were cooking in the winter gloves and I was barely above 15 mph riding past the Colosseum, together with 100 half naked (in comparison) moped riders. But you're right mate, the arse wiping would be a challenge if I was side swiped! All good and fully gloved up in episode 5. Cheers.
