These are interesting times for the Nissan Leaf which for 2016 has up to 107-miles range, or 27-percent more than last year. The Leaf is in the unusual position of being a big fish in a small pond - with significantly bigger fish including its own replacement swimming sooner or later to a dealer near you. That said, the established and twice-updated Leaf still is a competent electric car that can deliver what a lot of people need it to do.

As a driver of the 2015 Leaf, it's very tempting to upgrade for the higher range. However, I think the 2nd generation Leaf will be worth the wait!

Almost did the same because Nissan contacted me with a pretty good trade-in deal. But my current 2015 Leaf is plenty to get me to work and around town, and I'm really more interested in the Bolt coming out soon anyway!

EVerything =O what trim do you have and how much does it run on full charge?
@EVeverything

I have the base S trim, so it's the standard 24kwh battery pack that's rated for 84 miles. I've been getting excellent efficiency at 4.8 miles/kwh so I'm getting better than the estimated range as long as I don't get on the highway too much. I do feel like I'm missing out on the fast-charge port that now comes standard on all 2016 Leafs, although I was surprised to see the heated back seats removed as a standard feature on the 2016s.

No thermal battery management scares me. Cold winters. Extremely hot humid summers. Any opinions would be appreciated.

does anyone know if i have to use Nissan's "supercharger", or i can use my household 110 volts outlet? if so, how long will it take to fully charge it from, let's say almost empty? thanks.

Low mileage is not a problem The Nissan LEAF is your problem. Buy new modules and have fun driving, without any Webasto heaters and twinbats in the trunk.

Good review. Thanks. Waiting for the 200 mile leaf or Model 3. Hoping the UK £3000 government subsidy will cover the down-payment on a lease. In the meantime I'll continue to destroy the planet with my 2 litre Diesel. :-O

In the US there is a $7500 tax credit still and with current manufacturer rebates and dealer incentives I just bought a 2016 SV for a net cost of $18,500 (+tax, tag, etc)

why not SL ?
@DVeck89
@DVeck89 8 жыл бұрын
It's more expensive and for features I didn't need. Also looking at the older used SV/SL models, the extra money you pay for an SL doesn't translate into much higher value over an SV on the used market when you go to sell/trade-in. SV has the same 30kwh battery as the SL which is all I really cared about over the base model.

Leaf is the best choice for electric. But I chose to stay with the 2016 Prius II $22,500.00 plus tax 56 MPG and a great new look and ride.

I was at Starbucks the other day and I saw somebody charging there with this car running a long extensive cord from the store to there car. So this car can be charged on a regular outlet at Starbucks?! I figured it would need more power then an ordinary outlet at Starbucks would offer.

ive driven this Vehicle, and it is a very nice ride for what it is. if one is to compare other leases in the same price point, they will see its value. obviously the range is a concern, but really for the average daily commuter this is more than enough. However this is a lease only vehicle. .. do not buy it.

+Lone Star Tick why what?
@BTC909
@BTC909 8 жыл бұрын
+Lone Star Tick WHY, have you seen the resale value of these? Once 200 or even 150 mile range EV's show up in the 30K range the resale value on sub 100 mile EV's will tank even faster. Even on a 1-2 year old EV.
@ninepinknails
@ninepinknails 8 жыл бұрын
Ivan Vojt , I'm assuming if you're losing on resale because if depreciation , then the lease takes that into account and you lose... I guess it depends on cost to buy & resale value vs. Cost to lease over same time period
@redwineisfine
@redwineisfine 8 жыл бұрын
+Lone Star Tick the resale value is atrocious. hence again why i stated, at 299 per month on a lease with zero cash x 39 months its far cheaper than buying it.

stop comparing this car to a car (s) that don't even exist for sale and stop comparing it to cars of completely different price ranges.
