The ranked system would be fine if it matched you with equally skilled teammates.. It’s stupid to get lower level teammates against a bunch of higher leveled players.

I’ve noticed that if you aren’t 2nd place on your team, you aren’t leveling up, much if at all. That last minute going from 2nd to 3rd place is basically a loss for you. Gotta fight for at least 2nd

This game is so good at its core gameplay yet so broken. The matchmaking, the random game crashes which are worse after the patch, the desync. And I haven't even touched on lack of content yet

Bronze 1-10, silver 11-20, gold 21-30 plat 31-40 Diamond 41-45 , onyx 46-50 champion rank top #500 in the world. Everyone is happy and everyone starts at Bronze 1. Wins should weigh more than individual stats. That’s what Halo is about…team work and getting the win. As much as I would love a 1-50 and actually showing next to your GT but they have way bigger fish to fry. They need players to actually play the game lol

They said they don't want your visible rank to go up even for good performance on a loss, but then state that your MMR will increase based on individual performance. So you can lose and then face more difficult opponents, and get stuck in a cycle of just plain never going anywhere rank wise due to being saddled with poor performing teammates the game is demanding you carry because you're secretly good despite being stuck in Diamond or something. What a shitshow

There is no I repeat no justification for MMR to affect Ranked that’s why Ranked has a separate ranking system to began with, by having MMR affected it it just becomes a sweaty game of socials with bad SBMM, no MRR should be allowed anywhere near competitive games that’s the whole point of ranked, there’s already a ranking system it automatically grades where your skill level belongs on the spectrum of Bronze to Onyx, having a magic number that doesn’t even exist or is even visible anywhere even on Halo tracker is a cheap way to force SBMM so bad players don’t feel like they are doing bad in games. Unless I’m not on the same page someone can correct me if I’m mistaken because I’m pretty sure I did my homework on this subject, but the whole point of ranked was to match people on the same skill level by the rank you are at, yet somehow an onyx player can go do do do 💃 into a lobby of platinums and diamonds because someone on the opposite team has a high MMR than normal because of the amount of wins they have that’s not allocated to their rank, but because they played Swat or team slayer. This MRR system needs to be removed asap this is destroying games we do not need an MMR/SBMM system, we already have one want to know what it’s called? It’s called Ranked. Now people will argue “oh well what about social and BTB people will have problems playing games because everything will be unbalanced” easy fix Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 did it perfectly, want to know how? by making it random players, SBMM wasn’t heavily induced but it was there however majority of games was random player based matchmaking, and that’s how games should be developed. Want to sweat in games go play ranked, want to have fun playing social games it’s done with a random algorithm of players so therefore the likelihood of winning is random, nowadays people can predicted if they are going to win or lose based on the statistics of other players in game stats which is some SBMM BS. There should be random matchmaking for every thing else but Ranked, which should be left untouched and graded based on the Rank you are at.

I don’t know. I’m still put off but it sounds like they are working on it. If they improve desync and those anomalies I would be bought back. I still think it’s bs that you earn more or less depending on the average of the other team. I think there should be a minimum amount guaranteed per win and the plus whatever more because of your performance. I remember winning streaks that gave me almost nothing just because my friends were better than me. However when playing on my own I ranked faster. I just want to be incentivised to play with friends and make a team.

This explanation doesn't change the fact that the ranking system is so fundamentally flawed at its core that I don't even know where to begin. There is nothing "true" about it. Whoever created the algorithm is flat out not intelligent enough to be in their role at 343. To be fair, the collective intelligence at 343 is rather low relative to other studios. For context, there is no complaining from me because I cannot gain rank. I am an Onyx level player in Infinite, former Champion level player in H5, and former 50 in previous titles.

3:50 they know players like to see the rank increase. So they opted to have a number/rank that will go up while still having sbmm. I'm guessing it was intended to be something that psychologically conditioned players into feeling good for playing, but now it's just confusing because everyone realized it didn't mean anything. Almost every issue in halo can be summed up like this: microsoft/343 went for short term gain.

Thing is, i as well as many people on twitter and reddit have experienced losing csr on a win.... And during my climb to onyx i would gain csr on a loss but ive never seen that since being onyx.... like... huh

Averaging 2 teams when they allow a Bronze and Onyx player to matchmaking together will never work. Averaging each side with that in mind seems so counter-intuitive.. imaging having an Onyx 2200 with 2 plats and a Diamond 5 to "balance" against 4 Onyx 1600's is not anywhere near balancing, even though they may have the same "average" on each team. Anyone could tell you those teams aren't balanced. Yeah the >2000 onyx players CAN shit on everyone in the lobby individually, but it's a team game, and when he has 3 players on his team who can't hold their own, he is going to have a very rough time with no map pressure anywhere. And the 3 people on his team are also not having a good time.

Playing Ranked as a player with no good player friends is a nightmare most of the time. I could dominate 20 - 2 with great accuracy and I get f.ck.d from my shit team and drop rank. I stopped playing rank cause I apparently have no friends haha.

I want player lobbies and a much more in depth progression system that isnt completely tied to micro transactions and forge to make the games feel fresh and like your actually making progression in your spartan career like a count on all your badges and gun records

I can't tell you how many games I've played as Plat (6/D1)and another mid Plat, diamond 1/2, with a Plat 1 on my team and the enemy team was 2 onyx and 2 high diamond.... but it's fair matchmaking???

I was pissed today went down in a win and was like wtf. Found out on tracker, halo put me in a ranked game when i crashed starting up halo (didn't even get to the start menu), i never played a ctf bazaar today and tracker said i did. Unless halo double queued me in a game i was unaware of. Definitely something that needs to be looked at. (inkdAdam my tag). Actually played 6 games 2 i was trash in the other ones (literally one of my worst games, happens no worries, although makes me wonder how i play that bad from one game to another) i was 1-2k/d and won. Been sitting high plat-diamond 1 which i think is alright minus the skill variance, some are great others are meh, but strats and team work are either non-existent or god tier before they were consistent, you knew you were playing with diamonds or onyx 9/10 times vs plat which is a mix of wtf. I felt the ranking was more accurate before the reset where i was mid-diamond and the low onyx high diamond i could usually compete (I'm not the best player, first halo played since 2). The plats level is so varied in skill, at least before it was consistent imo.

I was an Onyx 1600 before the reset. I am an Onyx player, always been a 50. I am goofing it. I won 1/10 placements, went positive 4/10 of those placements, and got Diamond 1 (CSR 1224). Out of 25 games I now have 5 wins compared to 20 losses with a .80 K/D. I AM STILL A DIAMOND 1. I went up to a Diamond 2 twice now on wins, but am still a Diamond 1 after goofing. "Not perfect" is far from accurate as this game sees my MMR in the last 1,100 games and won't let me easily get out of Diamond into Platinum. What a bunch of crock. This games ranked is more broken than Halo 3 Boosters.

I'm tired of this shit. How the fuck can you justify Stat tracking in social to use on ranked!? So if I get high as fuck and try to just play Fiesta and get fucked that has some kind of impact to my rank in competitive?

You absolutely cannot restrict friends from match making together because of differences in MMR lol. That should be obvious when thinking about the cost vs. benefits. You also cannot add a reconnect feature in a ranked match due to the complications of the advantage given to the full team while they are scoring on the team missing a player. You could allow a reconnect feature if It meant that the MMR/CSR is not affected even if the player who left came back before the end. Missing a player for half of an oddball game is surely going to be the deciding factor in the game even if both teams finish the game full. This should also be obvious.

When averaging skill rating they need to weight higher skilled players with some kind of multiplier because one highly skilled player can tilt the whole field. A game like rocket league has no complaints about the matchmaking because if you play doubles as a diamond 3 partied with a platinum 3 you’ll play a mix of higher/mid diamonds and the games are typically fair

Big take away. Team Based games are actually just Lonewolf mentality and you want to place 1st and 2nd on your team as well as just go in for Kills and low deaths rate. Then you get Onyx. That's super backwards. Ranked should be Team oriented and should boost team effort and Team Wins. Keep all the K/D ratios out for the most part. I can have dog shit teammates with K/D but are super good at Objectives it won't even matter cause it's about K/D. This makes it hard for people to get Pro Teams together in a sense. You don't wanna pick Onyx players because it just shows they can Kill better but lack that Objective base play which when competing it's mainly about winning the games objective. Imagine watching HCS and it's not about winning the game but the Kills and Deaths. That's just Slayer with a Side Quest and no one wants to watch that or play that.

Yeah doesn't really matter how BTB works, people just play it for the easy killing streak clips like Mint Blitz and others.

They need to stop the cap of +/- 15. If you go 30+ kda it should jump your csr as well rather than trueskill match matchmaking forcing csr to be an arbitrary grind.

All of it makes total sense… the bit that doesn’t make sense is how it judges how good you played in a game based on pretty much just kills only. If I have 10 kills and 0 deaths and a team mate has 11 kills and 20 deaths they will have been seen to be playing better.. crazy! It should base your game on objective, kills and deaths

I get what they're trying to do. A simple fix in my eyes is just, don't reset ranking every season. If they do that though, given the current state of the game, a lot of players would lose interest with the only piece of consistent 'content' (I use to word content loosely) being removed.

It’s all stuff I knew about and honestly, it’s what’s been pissing me off about this game. If things don’t change within ranked as well as bugs get fixed I’ll probably just quit altogether.

They arent still playing their 10 matches to rank up, they left the game. The 10 match thing is stupid. Social should have nothing to do with rankes. NOTHING. Everyone should just start at level 1, why is this so hard? The other thing is if CSR is based on wins / losses against other players, then the individual playing the objective makes no sense. You could say well if they lose, they wont go up but most players dont care.

I think this transparency is a good thing, and we should commend 343 for keeping the community posted. Additionally, adding another rank above Onyx is a great idea for numerous reasons. There is a tremendous amount of difference from a 1500 Onyx player and 2000 Onyx player. I believe adding a "ceiling" to the ranks will help them determine, more accurately, where players belong.
