I am a long-haul truck driver watching your vids who lives for 3-4 weeks in the space the size of a closet....lol! i have watched about 2 dozen of your vids or more so far.....and umm, i subscribed after this one.....lol again! this is my favorite so far! The simplicity of it.....combined with your rare humble spirit, is proof that we don't need much to be content, survive, and meet our basic human needs! =)

Years ago when I was in the military my unit deployed to the National Training Center in Barstow California. We were told that a laundry service would pick up our dirty clothes and return them to us while we were there. I decided to do my own laundry and packed a plastic cooler into a repair shelter along my other gear. While the other soldiers laughed at me and turned in their dirty clothes I filled my cooler with laundry powder and water, washed and rinsed my clothes and laid them out on the hot desert rocks to dry. We were there for two weeks and the laundry service did not return any of the other soldier's laundry until the last day. Before we left the desert the other soldiers stopped laughing and were asking me if they could use my cooler. Sometimes you do what you have to do and simpler is better.

The phase change from water to ice and vice versa takes a LOT of energy, compared to just heating water. In fact, it takes 80 times the amount of energy to melt ice as it does to heat the same amount of water by 1 C.
