Thank you so much for this! Because of this video I was able to figure out that my battery isn't working and avoided paying for a whole new laptop. I'm really in a tight spot financially right now and I'm trying to avoid just buying new things every time something breaks. Also in case anyone is curious or has a similar issue: I checked because the amber light was blinking and i couldn't turn my laptop on no matter how long I left it charging. So took the battery out and plugged my laptop in without the battery. Since it turned on after removing the battery I now know I just need to replace the battery.

The lid can be opened by placing your palms on the triangles and lifting the edge of the lid with your fingers.

Thanks for the video. It very helpful. I just want to know if you have experienced problems with power button - i.e. the laptop doesn't turn on. Is there are problem with keyboard it self? How do we check this in the keyboard?

Didn't have that issue. You can order a keyboard and connect it without installing it.

Do you know how similar this model is internally to the PH315-54-731m? Can I use this video as reference for disassembling the 731m?

No idea. Give it a try. I open every computer for the first time with all my other repairs as reference. If you watch enough of my videos, you should be able to figure any laptop out.

I'm watching this because my PH315-52 is not turning on. Thanks by the way, incredibly useful video. When I plug in the charger, the charging light still turns on (both orange for charging and blue for fully charged), which gives me hope on the mobo. Every time I push the power button though, the charging lights go out, then after 1-2 seconds goes back on. I also tried to listen closely when pushing the power button, I hear the faintest POP from somewhere behind the mobo (where you cleaned the stains). In your professional opinion, could the mobo still be alive? Might I just have a blown capacitor or short-circuited keyboard? I was pushing the laptop too hard when it died by the way, playing a video game with other apps open (something I've done a lot since I bought the thing 3 years ago).

It's soldered to the motherboard. Unless you want to melt the laptop getting the old one or, then yes. You'll have to send it to a computer repair place.

@@ItsBinhRepairedI realized that this isn’t the model that I’m looking at working on, but still uncertain about whether or not soldering will be required. My buddy has a predator helios ph317-54, and every part I’ve seen for it is literally just plug-n-play, but sometimes replacement parts are funky

I opened it up but now my keyboard is not working hence pc is not starting, I've broken the pin for keyboard connector the plastic one which we have to flip I pulled😢

Thanks for the vid, i opened mine to clean the fans they were very dusty i was having some serious over heating issues but its fixed, unfortunately, the connexion between the battery and the motherboard was screwed, the laptop can turn on when plugged, and the battery indicator works so it means the bettery charges, but when unplugged th laptop doesn't turn on its like the battery can no longer give power to the motherboard how can i fix this please

@@ItsBinhRepaired when i opened it i unplugged the battery from the motherboard first, then unplugged the fans power cable also, to proceed and clean them, after being done, i re-plugged the fans but when i tried to re-plugg the battery to the motherboard i saw some kind of spark happen in the mother board, i thought it was nothing. But then the laptop cant turn on with battery i must plug the power cord for it to turn on it's like the battery can no longer give power to the motherboard. Sorry for the long reply, i tried to give maximum details so u can have an accurate image abt my situation, what do u think i should do, and thank u

@@joeythomas2929 hey joe, yes. In fact, I think that I might have been scammed. See if you can help me please. I let the laptop with the repair shop more than 3 weeks a go. At that time, this was their message: Hello Ariel, we have an update on the component level repair for your motherboard. The PCH (platform controller hub) has shorted and requires replacing. They are able to resolve this by replacing the faulty parts on the motherboard. Taking into account the cost of these parts, the total repair would be £365. The £85 already paid would go towards this, so the amount to pay on completion would be £280. They still estimate a further 2-3 weeks to complete the repair as the parts have to ship from abroad. Please confirm if you would like to proceed. Many Thanks

I have chased this repair for you and we do not have great news. The device has suffered a massive cascade failure during the initial failure. This was only discovered after lifting the platform controller hub, which subsequently shorted the GPU. It is not economical to continue with the repair of this device. We will have your laptop back in the workshop by Wednesday next week. We can capture your data and transfer it onto a repacement drive for you or another device. I am happy to quote for a replacement laptop if you know the specification required and a budget, many thanks
