My moms family is Irish American and it’s crazy how up Until my mom was a kid, it was very much like that even here. They are Episcopalian tho, not catholic but it’s always assumed they are. My mom said when she first moved here with her family, (their last name is Doyle btw, will be part of the story) the local priest came and knocked on their door, demanding to know why they weren’t attending the Catholic Church. When they told him they weren’t catholic, he acted as tho they were supposed to be as their last name Is Doyle. After that, they were treated like Outcasts until they moved again. Just reminded me of that story, that even now it’s still so expected to be catholic amongst Irish ppl.

The only issue is that Dylan is in like the babysteps of her transition. I see a lot of the controversy around her revolve around the concept of her identity fluctuating, which is exactly what happens when you transition. Almost every comment these people have about it could easily be explained away by "well maybe they're just discovering themselves?" rather than the TERF rhetoric of denying their identity entirely

Dylan is an actor. He just wants attention. Why else would he start posting his videos about his “girlhood”? He just wants attention. It’s clown world.

I completely agree. It's like saying because someone abusive decided to go to a specific college, that college needs to be investigated for abuse. I know many genuine Christians who do not condone or participate in such vile behavior and it is not fair to them to discredit their whole religion from abusive people hiding within it. Abusers and narcissists seek out positions of power and things to make themselves look good, those people are the problem not the religion or building they run into. People need to be judged on their individual merit/behavior.

Dylan mocks women on a regular basis. That's clear to anyone whos paying attention. It has nothing to do w being trans. Blair white is a trans woman but people don't say those things about her because she's only trying to be a trans woman. She supports women & their rights. There's a huge difference in behavior... and that's why there is a huge difference in how they are seen & treated. One is trying to mock & erase what it means to be a woman... and one isn't. I've never heard one person complain about Dylan for being trans... it's for everything else.

@@Lilacs4 It’s not when one person does it. My point is when many do soto the point it’s a trend or a pattern. It’s more like when you see a swarm of bees in a pot you assume it’s a honey pot has something that’s attractive to bees due to its innate qualities. Also, just one person who’s sketchy going to a college isn’t the fault of the college, but if it turns out a ton of, say scammers not only went to that college but we later find out the college has several scammers within its staff, you need to question what about the place causes this. Do they teach scamming? Do they provide some benefits or protection to scammers? What is it about it? Not saying every Christian is a bad person and someone is usually good or bad regardless but the trend has been hiding behind religion to scapegoat for one’s actions. They wouldn’t be able to even do that at all Christianity didn’t provide some mechanism by which to do so.

At that point that is a perversion of a religion and not a proper rep of it though, and is better described as a cult. Broad generalizations is dangerous. An abusive spouse ≠ an accurate rep of marriage. A cult ≠ an accurate rep of a religion. Religions have many denominations, variations, and off-shoots. It poses a dangerous risk of overcorrecting, punishing innocent people, and destroying an enormous people group's rep based on something they have zero awareness and/or involvement in. Ex: my spouse is Indian. Love that about them, we celebrate their culture n happy childhood memories etc. But have also heard n seen many bad things going on in India. Do I then act skeptical and demand investigation into the whole country? Or the whole race? Or the whole generation? That is discrimination. My spouse is not responsible for the bad people in their lineage or in their home country. We need to handle accountability on an individual basis, period. Always. Whoever - as many as could be involved - is violating the law needs to be prosecuted according to the law based on their individual actions and failures not based on affiliation. I am a child of abusive parents. My father has actually scammed and conned people. I would be gutted if people judged me just because I am his kid. He claims to have the same morals and religion as me and he is a LIAR. It is just an excuse and mask he wears to find victims. I feel dirty even being associated with him and my mother, I have disowned them both for over 7 years now, cuz they refused to make things right. I never want anyone else to experience that kind of prejudice like I have experienced. I hate that too. However tbf she did say she didn't know much about Dylan so she can't really speak on that besides this was a video about Brittany. Who clearly is only doing this for her new brand. I get as much sincerity from her about her own change as Dylan.

I think having issues with Dylan is fine if the issue isn’t solely based on her being trans. However, if like Dawn’s tiktok, the entire focus is on saying Dylan isn’t a woman and misgendering, I don’t think any valid points against Dylan are made. It’s all about identity as far as we’ve seen! If Dawn said she didn’t like Dylan’s politics or takes, I would never assume transphobia.
