Thank you fot this information, Autumn! I have been struggeling with the choice of protein powder. I am lactose intolerant, so whey powder does not seem a good idea to me, or is it? I have tried pea-protein powder instead, but I am sensitive to legumes, so that wasn't a succes. Do you think hemp powder is a good alernative? Meanwhile I use grassfed collagen powder in combination with for example lactose free yoghurt of with coconutyoghurt with a few eggs on the side. But I would like to be able to use a complete protein powder too. Any ideas??
@AutumnBates
@AutumnBates 9 ай бұрын
Hi! I've found many folks who are lactose intolerant can still use a type of whey protein called whey isolate. This has gone through additional filtration to help remove lactose. That's why I use 100% pure whey isolate in my zero sugar protein powder. But if allergic to dairy protein in general, the next best option would be an egg white protein powder.

So adding collagen to my mushroom coffee isn’t working?
@danim4884
@danim4884 9 ай бұрын
I'm struggling with all of these tips because I'm celiac, can't have dairy, IBS which means most commercial bone broth is a no go because they add onion and garlic and are too high histamine, can't have legumes, so the collagen with mct in my coffee is at least a start. So how do I make complete proteins out of these restrictions? Add gastroparesis so meals must be small and less than 30g protein each. I'm never achieving the protein I need. I'm really stuck. Not enough hours in the day.

Does collagen need to be consumed with a protein source to maximize the benefits? I've been putting it in my morning coffee as I normally follow some form of time-restricted eating.
@AutumnBates

Collagen will break a fast, so I personally don't have it during my fasting window. However, you can have collagen on it's own during the eating window - it's just important to make sure with your other meals you're still getting adequate complete protein, too.

I love using collagen powder but I think it's super important to talk about how the collagen industry is destroying the Amazon rainforest. Vital Proteins in particular uses South American cattle as their sole source of collagen which has led to MASSIVE rainforest loss. I'm having a lot of difficulty finding a good brand that doesn't source from South American cattle. Please be mindful of where your collagen comes from, y'all 💚

@AutumnBates, -- Do you have a preferred collagen that you use? I use your chocolate protein powder and was also wondering if putting a scoop of the collagen wirh it would be ok? (You just need to come out with your own collagen. Because your protein is a staple in my diet for smoothies or even better waffles.)😂 Also, I have an adrenal gland deficiency, so I have to take steroids every day to stay alive, which doesn't help at all with weight loss.

Not click bait. She is telling us to beware of companies advertising "plant based collagen" or those that market collagen as a good source of protein. It isn't a complete protein , yet is often marketed as such. However....it has many benefits which she describes. Shes just educating us in the benefits and myths. Take it but beware of the points she explained.

As I mentioned in the video, collagen supplements have a ton of benefits, but the issue comes down to the representation of "protein" on the label. This can make the general public believe that they're getting true complete "protein" when in reality they aren't.

I'm so curious now, so you're saying we can only get college in from animals. And that is it, there's no such thing as plant college. So then what about seamoss thats a plant?? Then you Said amino acids, can't you get that from fruits and vegetables? Why is it that the people that eat more fruits and vegetables look a lot youthful than the people who. Eat meats and dairy. I'm just playing devil's advocate. Because I've seen both sides. Before you bring out facts that you feel that is right. You should make sure you do your research. Because Sima's alone has ninety two minerals out of the one hundred and two minerals that will have and also aid in the building blocks of college end whether it's topically applied or ingested
@Leo-mr1qz
@Leo-mr1qz 9 ай бұрын
Collagen needs to be digested to be useful in the body, not topically applied, that's a beauty marketing scam. You can get plant based protien, although meat protiens have all of the essential amino acids, plus red meat has minerals that no other food contain, such as heme iron. Please be respectful. This young woman is a professional, and thrives in her field. She does her research, some of your questions were rhetorical, by the way. She went to school for years to aquire the knowledge she is so alturistically sharing with the public.

Food can have amino acids, but it doesn't mean those amino acids form collagen specifically. And regarding the idea of plants making someone appear more "youthful", I recently did a full breakdown of the research of animal based products and health that you might want to checkout here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/at6CmKZ32Kzaoqc.html

Hi Autumn, thanks for your video, very interesting. Love all your videos. What I still don't get (and I'm a retired microbiologist) is how does ingesting collagen, which is then broken down in your digestive system into its component amino acids get reconstituted into collagen in the body in order to go to the site(s) where it's needed, like skin or bone. Keep up the great work, and congrats on the baby!
