When adding big sheets of plywood to a project by yourself, use a C-clamp to hold the panel, and use a rope through the C-clamp to pull it into position and tie it off to something, then secure with the nail gun, screw or whatever. This will also help when dragging the sheet goods up to do the roof.

Your humbleness and ability to laugh at yourself is what I find so appealing about watching you build this. There are plenty of "experts" on KZfaq to follow and learn from, but your style suits me well. Keep up the good work young man!

If you nail or screw a 2x4 to the rim joist it creates a shelf to set the sheet on and hold the weight while you secure the sheet to the studs.

There are so many people out there that truly do not know how difficult it is to handle these 4x8 sheets by yourself (especially in the wind). Where there’s a will, there’s a way 💪🏼 Keep up the great work 🌲

I've always found while working with sheet goods alone that installing temporary 2x4 blocks where the bottom edge of a panel should go really simplifies things. They become like extra hands you wish you had. You can even go one step further and attach a 2x4 on edge over the blocks forming a edge to catch the panel and it won't slip off.

Yea the nails were a little finicky. Seems like everyone knows the 2x4 truck but me!

With that sheathing you should do all all your sheats horizontally. If you stand your sheets up and nail the long edge solid , it will buckle. You have more layers of veneer going the horizontal way. Look at the layers which is meant to go sideways. Then always leave an 1/8" gap so it can expand.

One hack to help hold up sheets of ply on top of another sheet of ply, screw to the back of the sheet you are installing 2 blocks overlapping the bottom edge to stop it from falling off lower sheet, or just drive a couple of nails partway to rest sheet on. An /or use a clamp to the top of the sheet and attach rope to it. Intrinsically, I'm lazy; but I work damned hard at it! 😁

Just eyeballing but on the back wall from the camera perspective. You could have put the top outside sheets upright and covered the gable. And leaving pretty close to a perfect horizontal sheet in the middle. But that’s only eyeball. And as so many others commented there are a number of ways and techniques for handling boards on your own. Equally I believe I read a comment about when you do the roof of using blocks and or your pulley and a clamp.

The pulley was a good idea. Another thing you could do is place a small block of wood above where the top of the sheet will go with a spacer under it. The top piece would hang down an inch or so to hold the top of the sheet when you slide it up under. Then a screw that sticks out about an inch on each side at the top of the lower sheet so you can push it up into position and rest it on. Then fasten the sheet and remove the block and the 2 outer screws from the sheet below.

Looking Good! I draw a line for my stud/rafter centers on my plywood, so as i nail top and bottom edge first, i can center lumber by moving to center marks. That makes a difference when you apply finish to interior walls & lids, as the layout is on center when your drywall, plywood, t&g lumber, what ever your finishing with, fits. Less cut waste and scribing for studs that are off centered from bottom to top or vise versa. Easier to fix as well, as sometimes a stud is warped and or you missed layout to one side! Keep up the creativity! Loved the pulley rope trick you incorporated, and i think your grade school teachers were shaking their heads on that move! 😮

This was as entertaining as watching the Three Stooges, you seem to produce the same entertainment value with only one instead of three. The easy way to have done this would have been to put the plywood on the inside of the cabin instead of the outside. That is how the Stooges would have done it. I hope your family appreciates how hard this was to build basically by yourself.

All ways cut your plates to match the length of the plywood. The sheets are always exact 4x8 and accurately square.
@jnl.6 ай бұрын
if you nail a small piece of 2x4 above where u need the plywood, then nail another pieces of 2x4 onto that, hanging down, u could slip the plywood up behind that and the wind couldnt push the plywood out any more than the depth of the underneath 2x4s. not sure if im making sense or not. so like instead of a ledge you are resting something on, it just putting blocks so the board cant fall outwards from the wind. if i still dont make any sense let me know and i'll draw a pic. lol....i wish u wouldnt go there alone when doing dangerous stuff!! especially trying to plywood the roof, i hope you have help for that.
