Today's video shows how I make easy pear raspberry jam without pectin, perfect jam for beginner canners OR anyone who struggles with pectin. Raspberry Pear Jam - recipe found in Farm Journal’s Freezing & Canning Cookbook - Nichols & Larson 10 pears - peel & chop fine 1-pint raspberries 5 cups of sugar ¼ cup lemon juice Cook pears, sugar, and lemon juice over low-medium heat until juice is released. Cook 20 minutes once a slow boil starts. Add a pat of butter to help reduce foam. Continue to stir. After 20 minutes, add raspberries (cook another 20 minutes but will depend on your liking of jam consistency). Cook until well blended and transparent. Yields 6 half-pints water bath method

What a joy listening and watching you can and make jam. It made me miss my Farm Journal Cookbook that I must of gave up when downsizing. Now I wish I still had it. I think it was the 70’s when I bought the book. I’m so glad I learned of your shows/podcasts. Unfortunately through your tragic accident and loss of your husband did I learn of you and your babies and your husband. I love every video I watch. Both old and your newest one with your dad, Hal! Love his Bramble! Love all of you! Always in my prayer’s as you travel this new journey. I’m so inspired by you, Heather☮️

2.5 lbs (10 medium) pears 5 c sugar Juice of a lemon (1/4 c bottled) 1 pint frozen raspberries Small pad of butter (2tsp) to control foaming. Pears, sugar, and lemon juice in pot; cook down for 20 min. Add raspberries, and stir for, up to, another 20 min. Jar up (about 5.5 half pints) Process in water bath for 10 min. THANKS HEATHER for SHARING!!!! I bought my pears today! Raspberries are in the freezer, lol

I am going to make this! I just have to tell you how much I appreciate you! I have watched all your bread making videos, and decided to try and make some. I bought the bread flour and used the recipe on the back for white bread. Oh my goodness! my bread turned out awesome! While I was kneading, I watched that dough turn into a beautiful round mound just like yours! I knew I was doing it right, thank you so much!

I would love to see jar it up January next year. I am now a canner and it is all thanks to you Heather. You are such an inspiration to me and that even though I am always in pain I can do something for myself and my family that takes my mind off of myself for awhile and gives me such a feeling of satisfaction, pride and self sufficiency. I love you girlfriend.

After a really rough fibromyalgia day, this meant so much to me to read tonight. Honestly, some days I think of walking away from youtube and all the ugliness that comes with it. Its so hard on someone with chronic pain. But then here you come, Sarah! Leaving me such a kind and loving message. Thank you, my sistah, and I am so proud of you for taking the leap into something that had been laying on your heart! A new adventure even though it can be intimidating. You did it anyways and look at you now! You’re a canning diva! 😁👏🏻❤️

I was loving your journey and having faith that God knows the desires of our hearts. I have a journey that is very similar. And our house just closed this week during the deep freeze ! LoL. 🙏🏻💜

Just to give you something to look forward to, it's 6:45 on a pleasantly cool Wednesday morning here in Mudbrook, -33 with a delightful zephyr from the northwest. I'm looking forward to the expected high of -15. I have a bushel of wild plums pitted and waiting to be made into plum butter in my freezer, but I don't feel like spending the heat to thaw them.

Brrrrrrrrr. We got 2 feet of snow and our state is under a state of emergency so our post offices are closed. 🙄 so I haven’t been able to pick up my mail YET! 😊 hopefully soon!!!!! And now i want to make plum butter!😍

@@TheKneadyHomesteader Our post offices are closed too, even worse the local beer distributor has cancelled deliveries for today. I'm pretty sure that's one of the signs of the Apocalypse. I'm working out the recipe for the plum butter, the prep is critical, wild plums are much different than cultivated ones, so next fall when I have plums again I'l make a video about it.

Hey Heather 😊 We love all the videos.. thanks you super much . I have learned so much and try some of the recipes. And going to try out more recipes . Got my canning books in from amazon..And yes January is the longer month of the year for me too. It’ s I after all the holidays and middle of winter . We watch all the canning videos. But I have a question. When you take out the jars from the hot water just right before you put in the jams or jelly do you just turn the Jar over to make sure all the water out of the jar ? I turn my jars over and put it on the cloth to make sure all the water out .. then put my jam in the jar . But I like the way you do it in all your videos.. does that make since.. 😊 First of all I want to thank you and all the ladies and Paul for all the wonderful videos in January. I did the salsa recipe with my aunt on a cold day . That was a fun day . . I got some frozen fruit in the freezer I’m going to make three fruit recipe. Hi Just watched my first canning video and I am fascinated. I am from England and have been making jam for 20 years but here we don’t “can” jam just put it in jam jars and seal with a lid or wax paper and cellophane. Jam done that way only lasts a year does canning make it last longer. I will be watching some more of your videos I think I’m hooked.

Great video. I have the early edition from 1964 and the recipe is on page 184. My cookbook is not in as good a shape as yours because I bought it when it was new and has been using it for 50 years. There is some great recipes in there. The cheese cake recipe is to die for and freezes great for a do ahead dessert.

Heather just finished jarring my jam they are in the canner now. I ended up with 7 half pints I cooked mine down 5 minutes less than you did but I did the spoon test and it looked like yours. I even ended with a little to use on some homemade bread I’m cooking next lol. I love this jam, I’m going to use it over a angel food cake for valentine day with homemade whipped cream. Thank you for the recipe I have added this to my canning book and will continue to make this.

Thanks for the video. I was just going to can my pears but they didn't have much flavor so I was wondering if anybody ever mixed raspberries with their pears. I came across your video and decided to go with that. I didn't put as much sugar in as you did and I think I have more pears but this is going to be way better than what I was going to do. Thank you so much!

I just made this jam after watching your video! I had pears I did not know what to do with and raspberries in the freezer. Oh my god!!! This jam is amazing. It has a heavenly aroma.
