Canoe Yoke Replacement - H2O Slingshot 222 Canoe

I am installing a nice Contoured Yoke on my 18'6" canoe. Used mainly for racing in the first 2 years, the tubular yoke started to bother me on the long portages. In a few easy steps, the yoke is installed and ready to go.
The canoe yoke replacement was a nice to have modification since this canoe H2O Slingshot 222 is already a very good tripping canoe.

What an improvement in appearance and function! Cutting those can be a little tricky! I know. Great idea using the duct tape for drilling the holes.

Thanks for watching! I had to do it. Initially I thought that the tube will do, but it was a pain portaging it like that.

So im about to start this on my canoe, and I think this is a perfect guide short of one thing. The only improvement I could think of are bigger washers on both ends of the bolts to spread the load on the gunnels/ yoke. Thank you for posting this.

Glad it helped! The original aluminum tube had only one screw per side (with no washer, see the first few seconds of the movie) & I carried the canoe like that for a few trips. Having 2 screws per side is even better, besides the canoe is only 42 Lbs.
