In Doctor Who Unleashed (which shows the behind the scenes, which started with the 60th specials) Russell T Davies (show runner and writer) sadly confirmed that the scene with Wilf was the only one Bernard Cribbins filmed due to his health before he sadly passed away on the 27th of July 2022 at the age of 93

I'm pretty sure they filmed 14 wheeling Wilf into the TARDIS, but they never filmed anything with him inside the set, so it would have been weird if he just vanished inside the Console Room, which makes me wonder how The Doctor was originally going to end up at UNIT, since they had to change it.

It's an interesting question whether the TARDIS brought them there on purpose or not. The thing is, the Captain's plan would have worked on its own if they hadn't landed there and given the Not-things a very clever template to copy. So, technically, it was them who put the plan in jeopardy.

I look at it more as the TARDIS' way to ensure The Doctor stays alert and is aware of the impact of what happened after the flux and that there may be something else he needs to watch for.

I dunno, maybe the Tardis was just that out of whack from the coffee. Not the first time the Tardis got thrown off kilter and brought the Doctor somewhere where his interference ended up making things worse instead of better (if you know you know, but hint hint: Series 3)

One of the great things about this show is how things from earlier episodes have an impact on the current ones. The story of River Song is a key example of the continuity they keep. Even if you don't do reactions to the earlier episodes, I hope you watch the previous series at least starting from Rose with the 9th doctor.

I'm so impatient for you to get the whole of Donna's story. :) Her story arc (personality wise) really resonates with me, I relate a lot to her inner feelings vs her outer demeanor.

This episode is amazing to me in that most of it is done by just two actors, each playing two different characters, and doing that mostly against a green screen. There were stand-ins when all four characters had to be shown together, but Tennant and Tate were responsible for the portrayal of both the good guys and the bad guys. That we believe the storyline says a lot about the impressive acting abilities on display! My favorite of this series is the next one, The Giggle. The writer said that they needed a strong actor to oppose Tennant's portrayal of the doctor, and Neil Patrick Harris is an absolutely delightful and horrifying villain. As usual for Dr. Who, a very strong cast in the next one. Enjoy!

@@ChachiSays There are some behind-the-scenes interviews with NPH about playing the Toymaker that are posted on KZfaq. You might enjoy them. It sounds like he found the combination of things he had to do rather a challenge and a bit intimidating. Intimidated by the role or not, he sure pulled it off!

This episode is an example of the horror sci fi in DW. And without the TARDIS (getaway) or the sonic (plot device), it shows how the Doctor and in this case, the companion, get themselves out of a tricky situation. You also have some catching up to do, aka the Doctor's home and the Flux. You better start watching Modern Who now lol 💙💙

The fact that everyone I know, myself included, picked the wrong Donna to save, is what makes this show awesome, that we made the same mistake as the Doctor. I'm so happy they did that (and still saved Donna in time ofcourse)

I was half expecting the doctor to ask Donna what she was thinking with that vegetable response lol I guess it wasn’t terrible but Fake Donna’s answer just felt more like her.

@@ChachiSays Yet Donna usually has an answer that she can give logical steps for, and that is what she does with the vegetable answer (even though the real answer is because there's a famous TV character named Mr. Bean); I am not sure she has ever had an "It just is" response to anything. On the other hand, I've seen more episodes with her. (And I could be wrong.)

Hi, thanks for the reaction you look like you’re enjoying the episodes. Wild Blue Yonder is my fave of the 60th specials followed by the giggle then the star beast. I love David Tennant as an actor and as the doctor. He fits the role so perfectly. It’s actually the reason he became an actor in the first place. He loves doctor who and wanted to play the role of the doctor on tv when he was growing up and he succeeded. I love him as 10 and 14. He’s my fave doctor ever. Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@@ChachiSays Tom Baker was the doctor that started the show for David but i think he enjoys them all. David used to get in trouble at school all the time because every essay he wrote had some connection to doctor who and being the doctor. 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

While they’ve come up with excuses to not be able to use the TARDIS before in order to get out of dangerous situations it doesn’t typically leave on its own the way it did in this episode. I heard it was a callback to Classic Who where this safety feature was originally mentioned and as the Doctor said in the episode it’s normally disabled as otherwise he’d never travel anywhere.

The TARDIS never takes you where you want to go, she takes you where you need to be. this is something that all of us as whovians happen to discover during each series. about the destruction of the half of the universe is something very traumatic for him. That happened to his 13th incarnation. Now if you want more context about the doctor you should watch the full series since the revival of 2005 series 1. ❤❤

Of course, the history nerds in the audience were quick to point out that the *term* gravity predated Newton quite a bit... Though since it was mostly just a gag setup, maybe it's best to not take the opening *that* seriously.
