I think this might be my last book review for a while since I'm struggling with finishing books since burning out back in October. I hope you'll stick around for when new reviews pop up though and that you'll enjoy this one! Cheers! xx

You are literally the perfect recipe for a successful KZfaqr: You're clearly both intelligent and creative, especially when it comes to video ideas and formats, your thumbnails are some of the best I've ever seen (so unique!) and you have a soft yet bubbly personality that makes people want to keep listening to what you have to say. I think you have the potential to, one day, have a very large following of loyal fans! With a little bit of data analysis, you could gather insights and figure out the best way to go about titling or formatting videos. I'm sure you already knew this, but if you log in to google analytics you can find out a bunch of useful info about your channel that may help you plan your next step and grow your channel. I should add that I really enjoy your videos, especially the book review/recommendations. Anyway, that's it from me haha, keep up the great work!

I finished The Long Petal of The Sea by Isabel Allende yesterday, so this seems fitting despite the different tone and genre they both cover the unsurety and tumultuousness of the 20th century and made me interested in Chilean literature. This sounds as you said hard, but so good!

Coming back here after having finished the book and watched the video. I also extremely enjoyed the book, although I find it odd to say I "enjoyed" all the various stories given their content and context. I was mostly touched by the way the various short stories (albeit fictionalised in some form or another) form what I can only describe as a multi-page "warning sign". If on one hand all the characters mentioned in the book were responsible for incredible discoveries/theories that forever altered the world, they were in one way or another also responsible (again, although not "consciously") for what that meant for the future. The sense of unease, especially knowing what each individual's discovery led to in the future, really touched me. I had a similar experience reading Rob Macfarlane's Underland, especially when reading the chapters about nuclear waste and finding a language suitable to be understood not just by humans, but also by creatures centuries and centuries away from now and from earth. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this book! x

I'm still processing this book after finishing listening to the audiobook just yesterday. The format and writing are so captivating and the selections of stories were engaging and flowed interestingly from one to the next. I went into this book completely without forewarning or context. And I was completely absorbed in it up until Shroedinger. I am not a person who is offended about the discussions of human atrocities or difficult subject matter. But I really did not like the passage discussing Schroedinger and his obsession with an ill minor. It seemed like there were few throwaway lines about how what he was doing was shameful. The way that passage was written almost made me turn off the audiobook. Explicitly describing the body of a child and a grown man's lustings for her, in this framing, seemed altogether f-ed up. She's 12. And yet, the author/narrative repeatedly refers to her as womanly or woman in her effects on other patients/Shroedinger. It is beyond f-ed to have it clearly stated that she is a child and then have her body violated while she is unconscious with illness and it is portrayed romantically? I am vexed that this is not a prominent point for people reviewing and recommending this book?

@EasilyStartled Hi, I felt the same way. I was also disgusted reading that part, but searching up Shrödinger online, he really was a pedophile and groomer. So so disgusting. I guess Labatut wanted to incorporate that part of his life, rather than depict him as a harmless person. It’s wild how grand a legacy Shrödinger has left behind when he engaged in such horrific behaviors. Edited because I used “disgust” too much.
