Thank you to Adam for at the very least mentioning the conclusion to Boogard’s story. You guys have a lot of younger fans who do not know the Boogeyman. If you are going to compare Rempe to Boogard, if you are going to talk about Boogard’s cult following, you have to talk about the consequence that he paid for playing hockey the way he did. He died before his 29th birthday from what is reported as an accidental overdose of alcohol and painkillers. His autopsy revealed he had more serious brain damage than Bob Probert, another legendary enforcer who passed away at the age of 45. Boogard would’ve almost certainly been suffering from severe mental health issues by the time he passed, and trying to mute those would’ve likely been the reason for the substance combination. I have no issues with glorifying Boogard and the role he played. He was one of the truest examples of a cult hero, but making a career that way comes with serious risks.

Grew up as a Wild fan in the early 2000's; Boogey was a staple of my childhood. When Matt Cooke eventually joined the Wild, he reached out to Boogard's family to ask if he could wear Boogard's 24.

The correct order of (recent) Oilers head coaches is: 1. Chiarelli is hired and brings in McLellan for the start of the 2015-2016 season. 2. Chiarelli fires McLellan early in the 2018-2019 season, and brings in Ken Hitchcock as a temporary basis. Chiarelli is fired several months later. 3. After that season Ken Holland is hired, and he hires Tippett as his head coach. 4. Tippett is fired in the middle of the 21-22 season, Holland promotes Woodcroft. 5. Woodcroft is fired early in this season. Oilers hire Knobloch -- technically a Holland hire, but reputed to actually be new CEO of Hockey Operations Jeff Jackson's pick.

I'm 27 now, I was 13 in the 2010 Olympics. I was watching the Gold Medal Game with my dad in our basement and we had been playing mini-stick hockey with a foam ball in the hallway during the intermissions. I was holding my mini stick sitting on the couch when Crosby scored the golden goal and my dad and I both lept up screamed and hugged each other and I accidentally flung my mini stick so hard at the window next to the couch that it put a giant crack in the window, and my dad straight up didn't care at all, cuz yunno, golden goal😂😅

28 and watched it with my mom and dad who are both massive hockey fans as am I as well… Very good times I really have great memories watching that game with my mom and dad. Moms a leaf fan me and dad are habs fans both my sisters are leaf fans, Imagine what our house is like day to day 😂😂😂.

Just got an Easter Seals email today about their march ambassadors. Boogard was a scary dude and remember he fought at a different time. He fought guys like McGrattan, Laracque, and other true heavyweights. Those guys and the boogeyman would have no one now who could hang with them. This kid hopefully can be a good enforcer but along the lines of a modern one that can also play 10 minutes a night.

I have a funny Olympic autograph story. I worked security for the Olympics and one of the guards at the athletes village approached Ovechkin and opened his uniform jacket revealing a Capitals jersey and asked him for an autograph. Ovy signed it no problem and walked into the building. The guard's boss went up to the guard to yell at him for breaking the rules about asking athletes for autographs and before he could say anything, the guard said, "I just took this job to get the autograph" and walked out like a champ. I don't know for sure if this story is true, but I want it to be.

21:41 I’ve felt this forever, Reilly coming out of junior was built as a Cale Makar type offensive defenceman but he’s never had a defensive defenceman to cover him, Makar has Toews, Fox has Lindgren, even Karlsson had Methot in Ottawa and Reilly never had that guy who let him go super offensively while not being worried about being covered defensively so he’s had to cover his partner and that means he’s not playing to his strengths

With the flames discussion with the current makeup of the team and with how much depth scoring there is I could see if they get to the playoffs that they can do some damage there. Maybe even get to the finals. But it's a big maybe. The team is built for the playoffs.

Rempe is the first time I've felt bad/scared for a newcomer in the League. having to fight 3-4 times in his first 5 and that face looking like that just doesn't sit well with me. Fighting is awesome, but putting a 21 year old through the effing Gauntlet steps outside of Hockey for me personally.

Canucks fan here. I'd love it if this story took a long walk off a short pier. Hes not going anywhere until the offseason so who cares? I dont want him to get traded, but EVEN if he does, we'll get a boattttttload in return. Might even be best for the franchise considering dedicating 12M+ of the cap to one player doesnt really work in the cap era.

Keefe is kind of in the middle of the pack at best as far as yelling at the officials go. Watch any game thats close in the 3rd period. The coach for the team that gets a call against them, is going to be worse than Keefe was last night.

One minor comment. Jesse said, you can't blame the ref on the Marner call, from his angle it looked like a trip. As a former referee, on the Marner tip, the ref at the blue line should never had made that call regardless of what he thought he saw, since the other referee was in the better position and had an unobstructed view (as shown in your screen shot), so the ref at the blue line, who did not have a clear view and was much further from the "infraction", must rely on his partner's judgement on this call.

@@thechefmike The point SDPN was making was that you can't have success without playing nice with the refs. Did the Panthers lose in the finals because the Refs were biased against them? Clearly the refs weren't biased enough to stop the Panthers from getting through the first three rounds. I'm just saying that there seem to be counter examples to the rule that you shouldn't yell at the refs.

@SDPN I think you’re mistaking Edmonton having to fire their head coach 7-8 times in Connor McDavid’s tenure is not a sign of Edmonton being a “winning culture”. They are incredibly streaky and a very volatile group. Yes, i agree that Calgary as a Flames fan isn’t Stanley Cup worthy. So the idea of being able to move players out while still being competitive in being a playoff team just goes to show Conroy and Huska managing the team regardless of the significant ups and downs throughout the year. I feel that the Flames organization has enough confidence that they are able to draft players either that they become stars, superstars, or average players, they seem to have the ability to bring in players that continue the strength of what the team ultimately strives for in the end, a Stanley Cup. As Huska says, work as a 4 line and 3 D-line unit and become really tough to play against. It’s something lately the team has bought in in the very late stages

Conroy was hired by Jay Feaster not Treliving. I think Conroy has the ear of ownership more than Treliving did because Mr. Edwards idolizes that ‘04 team and Iggy and Conny are in the front office now. The moves Conny is making Treliving would never have been allowed to make.
