the Commodores used to lay carpet on the side here in the big D. I know this because they knew my landlord and relayed the carpet in our living room. This was like 50 years ago... give or take. :D They sang as they worked. It was beautiful! I even sang with them while they worked. They were beautiful guys. it was fun!

@stephaniefain1863
@stephaniefain1863 6 ай бұрын
@@dougfa3515 lol, I guess, in a way, it’s both. They had passed on, true enough. But, Motown got its start in segregation. Black artist could not be in the studio with whites, and had “ the night shift”. Most bands/groups had to do their own tech stuff, because white techs wouldn’t work with them. I wish I had dates and specifics to give you, but, I’m old, and memory ain’t what it used to be! I’m sure, with a few minutes research, you’ll find it though. I’m an old white woman, and I love Motown!

OMG the Commodores. I haven't thought of them in years. They were a band that everybody disco danced to back in the 70's and 80's. I sure did. Such a weird time. Zeppelin and the Stones vs Commodores and Donna Summer. Hard to comprehend they existed at the same time. I listen to classic rock stations now and I never hear the disco music played on them. Most were pretty cheesy songs. For the most part I don't talk about the discos I frequented without being slightly embarrassed to admit it. But damn they were fun in their day. Commodores Brick House!!!!!

Though some might've thought the syncronized dancing was a little corny, they knew what they were doing because it was a homage to the doo wop and rhythm blues eras performers who used to do those dances in the past. The Commodores were one of the bands that kept that tradition alive. Kind of a nice touch when you think about it from that context.

I was born in 1970. This was early MTV days, although I never remember the video. But the song itself was a huge hit. Everyone liked this song, no matter your background. Lionel Richie was in the Commodores. The video is very corny. But most videos were at the time. We’ve come a long way. It would be better just to show them performing it live. This song was played at every school dance for probably 5 years or so. Good one
