When I was a young teen I read a book about a guy who's girlfriend broke up with him cos she realised she was a lesbian. That book destroyed me. I cried so hard, and I never knew why until I figured out I was trans/femme/nb and gay. It's funny though too cos I always used to think to myself that I felt like a lesbian trapped in a male body and my mum kept asking me If I was gay and saying that it's ok If I was gay even though I was always dating or sleeping with women. Turns out she was right, just not in the way she thought haha!

It’s always interesting to look back and understand experiences that we didn’t understand at the time (like you crying over the book about a lesbian breaking up with her boyfriend) It can be very relieving to finally be like “oh that makes sense now.” That’s so funny about your mom thinking you were gay 🤣

You’re welcome! I definitely agree, I always see videos about how HRT changes the body, but at least for me, HRT has affected my brain and my emotions much more than my outward appearance. I’m glad you enjoyed ☺️

I love your rambling because it echoes so many of my thoughts! I've often thought that I was a gay guy who was born in a female body. But I still got ridiculously powerful crushes on women, whereas with men it was much easier to turn off my feelings when it was clear that they weren't interested, or when things ended. I'm married to a cis dude now, but starting my non-binary transition and so far it has definitely changed my sexuality in that ... I have one? I used to be asexual 100% my entire life, so it's cool to actually be able to experience even a little bit of curiosity about that side of life. Also I wrote tons of stories about gay men when I was growing up too!! But I'm kinda sad I never had a lesbian relationship (or whatever you'd call it, since I'm non-binary) so I may never know what that's like.

That’s awesome! I’m glad transitioning has helped you to be able to understand yourself more and expand your horizons and interests when it comes to sex. And I love that you used to write stories about gay guys, that’s awesome! I’m sorry you feel like you missed out on having a lesbian relationship. I felt like that a lot once I started learning about my sexuality after transitioning. I hope you get to experience it some day (if your husband/partner is ok with you exploring that)

You are not being annoying at all, not even the least little bit. In a way, even though the things that go through my head are very different, listening to you is like hearing my self from someone else point of view, the emotions are very much alike while the reasons for them and the events are very different. You are also really fun to watch, you are incredibly expressive and your videos make me relax for some reason. I'm really glad I found your channel.

I loved how natural and open this video is. Comforting to watch and you're like, so stunning🤭 I'm NB (afab and no hormones) and love women.. And men.. Maybe. But I'm like, afraid to be with a monosexual person kind of? This straight guy had a crush on me recently and it made me feel super dysphoric. I feel like it's important for us to be seen for who we are, and that can impact who we choose to have relationships with. Fam I FEEL you in this inexplicable love for women. I only realized I liked women 2 years ago and it's just... 🌌sapphic🌌. You might be realizing your love for women in a more sapphic way than before. Also it's possible to have a different sexual than romantic orientation!! I'm pretty sure I'm sexually attracted to any gender but don't have any interest in dating a man, yknow.

Aw thank you!! 🥺💛 I definitely have figured out I am *very* sapphic. And before transitioning being sexually attracted to women just felt icky. But I’ve definitely come to a much better place now in understanding my sexuality (I’m confident/comfortable with the term bisexual). And I know what you mean about feeling dysphoric around a romantic/sexual setting with a straight person. It can make you feel like you’re put in a box, or *should* conform to the box in order to be found attractive. Thank you for reaching out (and for calling me stunning 😭💛)

Hey, idk if anyone'll respond to this but I'm also amab and really considering T-blockers and estrogen, but I'm very much more attracted to women, but I'm nonbinary and feel more like a lesbian than a straight man, and I don't know I feel a bit like a fraud for wanting to do hormone therapy because I like women, even though I really feel like I need it.

On the run, answering so I remember this thread: Same here, I also align with the idea of being a lesbian, because I want to move more towards femininity while still identifying myself as Non-binary. Remember that NB people can still choose to be masculine or feminine presenting and androginy is not the requirement to identify the way you feel comfortable with. The lesbian question is a tough one tho, but most people I know kind of engineer the answer for themselves. NB genderfluid feminine presenting and being attracted to femininity is my answer for myself, but it might be different for yourself. I will probably use estrogen hrt, but I'll try to contact a therapist first to solve other matters, because sometimes the greater problems seem to hide themselves and transitions sounding like new beginnings can sometimes sound just too good to be true. That's just me tho :p

If you feel like you need HRT, I say go for it. There’s no “rules” for how you decide to transition (or not transition). There’s many non-binary people (both AMAB & AFAB) who like women. And I promise you’re not a fraud 😊 best of luck to you and if you ever need to talk you’re welcome to message me on Instagram or comment more on here 💛
@brynavery
@brynavery 3 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree. It’s hard to find terms that “officially” refer to non-binary people, being that we live in a very binary centric world/society. So it’s definitely up for interpretation and your own personal feelings about what titles or identities feel the most authentic. I wish you the best and you’re always welcome to direct message me if you’d like 💛

I'm AMAB and have been on HRT for a year and a half now, and have always been interested in women (and once I knew they existed, some nonbinary people). HRT has been the best thing for me, my body and brain both definitely function better now than they did on testosterone, and I'm becoming even more sapphic. I tend to describe myself as non-binary and/or trans-femme, and as sapphic, because both of those feel accurate without being as restrictive as some other descriptors I've tried.

I've been watching a bunch of transgender videos, and this is the first one I've seen where someone talks about identifying as a lesbian. I can relate to a lot of what you said about that, I just like lesbians, I think they're so cool. And all the lesbians that I've known, I didn't know that they were lesbians when I met them, they just had a certain energy, a certain look, a certain whatever. So yeah I get what you mean.
@brynavery

I totally get that, I tend to gravitate towards lesbians even before they’ve ever come out to me or made their sexuality known. I really do believe that all different types of people hold different types of energies.

So did I understand you correctly that after gender surgery you became interrested in girls (the gender you were not attracted before)? Or have you actually bern interrested in girls before gender reassignment? I am not judging, just curious, because I read attraction to the preferred gender will not change.
@brynavery
@brynavery Жыл бұрын
So before going on HRT (hormone replacement therapy), I was attracted to men and not women. Once I started HRT I began being attracted to women as well as men. Looking back I definitely was attracted to women, but because of my gender dysphoria, I was unable to understand that (ie, the thought of being with a woman in any physical/sexual/romantic capacity made me feel incredibly manly, so I was unable to connect to that type of attraction). Since starting HRT (about 6 years ago) my Dysphoria has lessened, thus allowing me to connect with the attraction I feel towards women. I recently had bottom surgery (about 6 months ago), and that’s helped me feel even less dysphoric as well. As far as attraction not changing with transition, it honestly depends on the person. Honestly, most trans people I know have had sexuality shifts since beginning their transition. I have a family member who was a straight man before transitioning, and now she’s a straight woman-complete 180. I also have a friend who once identified as a lesbian, and since transitioning is now a gay man. But there’s also lots of people who I know that have transitioned who’s orientation hasn’t changed. It all just depends on the person I think. Hope that helped!

I know that sounds ignorant and I appreciate you educating me. I like to think of myself as an ally, but we all need to start somewhere.
