For those who say that Dauntless is more reckless than brave, you're totally right, but that's due to *SPOILER* steady corruption over the last few years. Dauntless really did used to be about actually being brave until Erudite began to infiltrate their ranks and twist the meaning, as well as push for more obedience, so that Dauntless would later suit their needs better. There's also more to it, but that would be even more spoilers for right now. Makes me wish that we could have a prequel where we see the different faction initiations and see Dauntless before it was corrupted.

That cheering for the first jumper was WEAK 😂😂😂 I always imagined a huge uproar for how proud of herself she felt afterward

In the book Tris was technically the second jumper because the first was a dauntless born who somehow misses the hole. So she saw her on the edge of the hole before she jumped next.

Actually, the girl Tris sees was a Dauntless who fell by jumping from the train to the roof. Tris was the first to jump from the roof, the girl died because she missed the roof by jumping from the train at the arrival, moments before the jump from the roof. It's the moment Tris realizes that Dauntless are not some immortal beings
