My father served a mission in the mid-1950s. While on his mission, he was attacked by a rabid dog. The dog charged him at high speed and ripped into his thigh with his teeth. The dog hit Dad's leg so hard that his snout collapsed into his brain and killed the canine immediately. Dad's suit pants were shredded, and his garments were torn, but he had not a scratch on his skin. The bruise on his leg was massive and deep purple and took months to heal. The doctors were dumbfounded that despite the direct impact and angle of the open mouth, he did not receive deep wounds. Dad always believed and testified that the garment had protected him from a devastating injury and spared him the rather barbaric treatment for rabies of that time.

This is actually interesting to me that people think its not a protection. I went through the temple for the first time about 2ish months ago. I was told by my parents and my temple prep teacher that the Garment serves as a spiritual protection as well as a physical protection. My temple prep teacher said that his dad worked in a mine and something happened and he got burned extremely bad and he has scars all over his body EXCEPT where his Garments were. He also said that when he himself was working, someone had a chainsaw and it slipped and cut his leg and stopped at the exact spot his Garment started. he has a scar that goes all the way to the exact spot his Garment starts. So I was taught that it is a spiritual and a physical protection, is it not common to be taught this?

I have a testament to the preventative power of the g's. My companion and I walked into a a gated yard on the way to the doorstep of a house regardless of a big, mean looking, scarred, wolf type dog barking at us like crazy. Once we got to the door and knocked, the people inside shot up ran to the door and swung it open. There we were chilling at the door with the dog. They asked us how we got to the door and told us that the dog is known for hospitalizing people. He said "God really must be on your side", I said "Exactly" but he still didn't want to learn. Really sucks he didn't though. As soon as we walked back out the fence the dog started barking and growling again. We didn't have to rely on the garments physical protection because of the preventative spiritual protection.

This might not be as impressive as not having any scratches on my back while skidding on asphalt, but I would like to share an experience of mine where my garments protected me. A couple years ago, my brother and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We are both somilar in age and I have a little bit of a tummy compared to my brother, but we share similar statures. My brother took off his garments because he wanted to go swimming in the ocean, and he went off without me while I was still eating. By the time I joined him, he told me that he had been offered weed three times already, and throughout all that day, as we ealked the island of Nassau, he was offered weed several more times. These vendors never tried to sell me weed, only my brother, who wasn't wearing his garments while I was. Might be a coincidence. We both found it funny and just joked around that my garments repelled vendors from me. I am not sure just how true that is. Maybe I put on a face whenever one of those merchants came near me or something, or it was 100% His Spirit protecting me.

My husband got in a motorcycle accident in april. A thin shirt, no gear, no helmet. He was going 50-60 mph. He flipped about 4-5 times. His scars on his arm have a clear line right where his garment begins. His pants were torn up but all scars were right below the hem. On his lower back where his garments probably lifted up while riding had bad scars. It was insane.

Ok cool maybe we Can archive some of our closest garment stories. My stake president relates on occasions that in his mission they were once driving an elder to the airport to go home. This elder had been a really good elder and had saved tons of notes and experiences and other artifacts in his scriptures. As they were driving the car set on fire. They pulled over quick and all got out. This is before cell phones so they couldn't do much of anything except watch it burn. This elder was freaking out because all he wanted was his scriptures because he didn't want to lose all the study and work and citations and notes he had put in there. Finally when the authorities arrived and the fire was out. That pulled his charred bag out and he opened what was left of it. Everything was burned to a crisp. But he reached in to the pile of remains anyway and found his scriptures which he had wrapped in his spare garments. The garments were roast but everything inside them was totally untouched. His scriptures were totally preserved. The only thing that survived the fire at all. There I like that story because I know him and he is a hyper honest and great guy.

I had an almost identical accident in the mission field, only I ended up sliding (on my name tag and belt buckle) on my stomach right in front of a bus. The bus somehow stopped right before it hit me, I only had a sore knee the next day. The bus driver and his passengers were all dumbstruck and amazed because I was not hit. A year later I was transferred back to the same area and tracked out the guy who hit me and we baptized him.

I'm a member of the Church. I don't believe in the trinity, I've studied it quite a bit in order to understand it better. When the trinity is understood correctly the baptism of Jesus isn't a proof against it as many in the church think. I've seen trinitarians actually use Christ's baptism as a proof for the trinity.
@amybaker1880

@@swensonbailey I used to be protestant. I was taught they believe about the trinity many times. Jesus was Heavenly Father in the flesh, the Holy Spirit was Heavenly Father's spirit. When they would use the word God, they were referring to Heavenly Father. Their red letter Bibles are a good glimpse into what they believe about Jesus. He's not in their Old Testament. Like I said, I never could comprehend fully what they taught.
@swensonbailey
@swensonbailey 2 жыл бұрын
The hardest thing about the trinity is a lot of people who claim to believe in it don't have a correct understanding of what it is. I have no doubt that you were taught about the trinity as you described above, but that isn't how a protestant or catholic scholar would define the trinity. In the trinity the Father isn't the Son nor the Holy Ghost, the Son isn't the Father nor the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost isn't the Father nor the Son. They are three different "persons" yet one God.

My companion saw that the gate was closing so he gunned it i was still moving the clothes trying to get in and unable too while being smashed by the car door and to prevent my self from being ran over and grabbed on to the seat belt and held on and was being dragged by the car on my back it was about 10 to 20 feet. I was able to roll away from the car I got up and said let's go. My companion and the others said Elder we need to go into the apartment. We went into apartment and I took off my white shirt and it had a giant hole. My back had only minor scrapes and my knee had some road rash. I still have the shirt.

My Father had the gift of the interpretation of tongues. When I was growing up there were many times while watching a movie or if we were in the presence of someone speaking another language, I would see tears running down his face, as he understood every word.. I also was with him when he was cutting trees down with a chainsaw and he slipped and fell feeling the chainsaw go deep into his thigh he was lying on the ground holding his thigh calling to me to bring his heavy shirt, thinking he deeded to tourniquet it very quickly before he bleed out. There was no blood or even a scratch eventhough it cut off his pant leg. His leg was red though, I think he said it was numb feeling. There are many levels of truth and faith, light has no end. The light we attain reflects the condition of our heart.

When it said Noah was “naked” the Hebrew word originally said “skin covering,” which was incorrectly translated as “naked.” What it should have said was that he passed out wearing the garment and Ham stole it, thinking he could$ gain priesthood power simply by possessing the garment. That is why when Noah woke up he cursed Ham…to never have the priesthood. It’s also why Shem a and Japheth “put on their own garment” before covering their father. They sought their own appointment to the priesthood rather than try to steal it.

One guy had 27 broken bones, another had his spleen removed and was 15 minutes from death before the surgery, another guy had a lacerated liver and internal bleeding, i opened the door unscaved and unshaken, i was wearing shorts and i cut my leg jumping over the hood rushing to each guy to give a blessing. After the wreck, all 3 guys with me said they agreed to let me do a blessing because during the impact, they all said they had seen a bright light around me and thought they had died and that i was an angel. Another vehicle behind us pulled over and said they seen a bright light come from the inside of the truck upon impact and thought the truck exploded.

The story gets even better when you find out what we discussed hours before on December 4th 2022. Pardon the longer response. It's good though, i promise. I work around a bunch of guys that are rough to say the least, they all laugh when they hear me drop an occasional f bomb when i smash a finger or can't get a piece of equipment to run. Well we were in a rig down, one guy asked me about the church (as the supervisor i allowed it 🤣) we talked 5 minutes then 2 more guys join, then 5 guys join then the next thing i know I'm sitting on an ice cooler answering questions for all 16 guys on my crew. We talked about everything possible... one guy asked "do y'all wear magic underwear"..i answered "they're not magic but spiritual and can be physical protection from things like wrecks and chainsaws". I know many members swear we can't talk about them, however, personally to me they're no secret, they're in the scriptures. I proudly discussed why we wear them and what they are. I feel that we must share why we have a temple and share blessings, and the reason of ordinances without actually giving away the keys to people that want to know. It may actually open their eyes and hearts. 3 hours later "BOOM".... I'm the only one that walked away from the wreck. I kid you not, when i went back to work, everyone was talking to me and asking how to get their own garments. My entire crew gained a testimony of garments and even 1 guy that thought it was hilarious that i wear them, he has since come to me and claims that he actually believes I'm on to something but he can't give up tequila. 2 guys in the truck with me have been baptized as well.

There was a time when I was living unrighteously and I removed them from my body, I couldn't "stand" to wear them. And looking back, I recognize that satan had power over me because I removed them. I have greatly repented since then. And I have had multiple experiences where I have seen the power of the garment manifest itself. I will never remove them ever again. I have seen two experiences in life that show the power and protection of the garment. My experience with the protection of the garment was when I got sideswiped on my motorcycle as I was traveling 65mph. The bike was knocked out from under me and I first slid, then tumbled a rough total of 300ft. I had a bruised thumbnail, and some lightly scraped knees, but the blessing came when I got home and removed my pants. They had been ripped in the back from belt line to the crotch. My cheeks should have been in the wind and sliding on bare asphalt. The garment beneath was melted and plasticized to the point of being hard(I was wearing the cotton/poly blend). I should have been torn up, and yet I was completely unscathed in any part of my body that was covered by the garment. The second one is the story of my friend who was serving his mission in Nicaragua. We was riding through town and they were stopped for a moment waiting for the road to open up more. While waiting, a man ran forward and grabbed at my friends sling bag. As my buddy stumbled, the man hit him in the chest with a machete. It was able to cut his tie and his shirt, but never hurt him through the garment.

Shem had a profound impact on the world. This would mean that Shem lived at the same time as Abraham and was who Abraham received a blessing from. If that is the case, it would make sense that Ham also lived at the same time as Abraham and would have the opposite relationship/experiences with Abraham than Shem did.

I remember as a Relief Society President, taking homemade soup and delivering it to members is the worst part of town, with my kids in tow because my husband worked out of town… My kids ducked behind seats and one started crying saying she was affraid I’d be shot… I responded that I had no fear, the lord protects those who are on his errand. They remember it to this day. 🤷‍♀️ I was completely believing and reliant on the promises given to those who leave the temple that we are endowed with power.

I love the garment! Most of the people around me treat them as optional. Last week in the temple I asked a worker if they were part of the covenants we make, like do we HAVE TO wear them in keeping covenants. He was kind of speechless, like um, yes...... why WOULDN'T you wear them? My thoughts exactly. Why wouldn't I wear them. I need the shielding they provide.

Shielding comes from keeping you covenants, not the ‘magic’ of the actual garment. Normally you would struggle to get a temple recommend if you are an endowed member and do not wear the garment night and day as instructed in the temple. Pretty simple really.

I gave a talk last week in Sacrament. In it, I noted that perhaps the greatest problem created by the Apostasy is that too many people simply cannot see that the doors of Heaven are open if they only look for them. Your comments about finding references to garments and seer stones are a perfect reflection of that blindness.

However probably one of the most shameful things I have incountered is at conference I went to explain to a protester "Ruben Israel," that we know Christ and he pulled out a woman's garment top that looked like it been dragged through the worst elements on earth. It was absolutely heart breaking and I knew that nothing good would come from me continuing to stand there and explain to him why he was wrong. I testify that the holy garment is of God and the blessings and promises attached to them according to our faithfulness are REAL!!! I so testify in the name of Yeshua our Messiah Aman!!

Sorry, I’m commenting so much, but I’m a hard core believer in the protection of the holy garment for both physical and spiritual protection. I’ve seen it!!!!! My brother’s fuel truck blew up while he stood right by it. The blast through him several feet in the air, landing him in the bed of a truck. He had 3 degree burns all over much of his body. So he was rushed to the hospital. My dad gave him a blessing, and he was wrapped almost from head to toe in burn cream and bandages. The next day I was getting ready to go see him in the hospital, when he walked through my front door, I about passed out from the shock of seeing him, not because he looked horrible, but because he looked so good. He didn’t even have one bandage on. I asked him how he was standing there. I asked him where his burns were. I doubted he had even been hurt in the first place. But all his skin was pink, and all the hair on his arms and legs was gone. But his hair and skin where his garments were, was not touched. So, the blessing, and his garments protected him from that blast.

There was a Native American who lived with some mormon pioneers. He then started a movement in the native communities referred to as the ghost dance where they wear a white magic shirt that is supposed to save them from danger. This led to the Massacre in the Black Hills, where Natives went out to battle against a US military deployment. This is detailed in a book called The Moon of Popping Trees.

Jumping into this kind of late. Nevertheless, there is in Jewish lore the idea the garment of skins made for Adam and Eve is the actual skin of mortality that is the clothing of the spirit. I like the more symbolic take on this since the skin is what makes us mortal and does prevent the adversary’s power against us. Just seems to be a better fit of the significance of wearing the garment than this idea of it having some power in itself to temporal protection. Fun subject that can get real weird and confusing if we don’t have a more practical approach. Great stuff guys!!!

If garments are a physical protection to some and not to others, is that to say those who did not receive protection were not worthy? It seems to me it would be across the board if they served as a physical protection. 3. Where does this information come from about the original garment having super powers and what about Eves? Faithful members die and get injured ALL THE TIME in their garments. I think Dan confuses "going to the temple" with actually being endowed. Many, according to Anthony Sweat of BYU, go to the Temple for the "presentation of the endowment" but many leave without true endowment power. I received true endowment power, with speaking in tongues, before ever investigating our Church. John 3:7-8 tells us that the wind that is the Spirit blows where it may. Many outside of our Church, including one of my friends who teaches at King's College, are as surely truly endowed as Latter Day Saints. Not all Latter Day Saints are true saints. Many true saints are not Latter Day Saints.
