I subscribe to over 300 modelling channels, and its official, you are by a huge margin, clearly the cockpit genius. Your workmanship and attention to detail defies belief! A privilege to watch!!

Awesome work regarding cockpit. There is one thing I noticed... only time Matt doesn't curses is when he builds Tamiya wohahaha. Furthermore great job and waiting for next one. Cheers 🍻.

Man I love what you do with cockpits! That green alclad wash works really well.

That cockpit is a work of art.

Great stuff, as always. Heart stopper when that (hydraulic lever?) part pinged off into the stratosphere. I might have uttered some strong words but I see you refrained. 😉

Heh. Truth. I said, “Oh, shit!” the instant it departed the launchers...er, I mean “tweezers.” How much cursing was required before he finally found the part?

Oh, please, pleeeeeeze, Tamiya, scale this beautiful kit up to 1:32! My Visa card is ready to go to war! And compliments on that cockpit, Matt. Very nicely done.

Looking good so far mate. I’m hoping Tamiya release the P-38J/L version

If your not a fan of dry brushing, check out the “Artis Opus’ (that’s the correct spelling) series of videos on it. While the owners are primarily targeting the gaming field, and they are trying to sell their product of course, it changed how I thought about dry brushing. Definitely a different method that has given me good results. Far less “scrubby” and more controlled than what we think of traditionally

Fantastic work!! You continue to inspire me to do better on each project!! Which product do you use for your flat coat?

Matt...Another entertaining and informative video on many types of weathering techniques. I always learn something new that helps me improve my modeling skills. Thanks for sharing your techniques in a detailed manner including the products you used. Thumbs up! You appear to use tattoo ink cups for mixing small batches of paint; what size tattoo ink cup are you using?

A drop of clear lacquer also works well for gauge lenses.

strange. on mine I soaked the panel in mark fit and slid the whole panel decal on in one piece, settled in with no issues right away. 🤷♂️

Mine laughed at markfit

Matt, where are you sourcing that decal softening solution? Most on EBay seem to be in the Far East and take 6+ weeks to deliver to the US. Is it so much better than Tamiya's other decal solutions that it's worth the wait? I just started my P-38 last night. Thanks for yet another great and inspiring video how-to series!
@DoogsModels3 жыл бұрын
ebay - they say 6+ weeks but I got mine within like 3. VMS also makes a 2-in-1 softener + adhesive that performs about the same. I find either one really helps reduce decal issues quite a bit.

Interesting to me that they only gave you single throttle and propeller controls for a twin-engine aircraft. Seems like a major detailing error on their part -- or am I missing something?
@DoogsModels3 жыл бұрын
It should be more detailed than it is, absolutely. I have to imagine it's a compromise made for quality control purposes.

i work in a warehouse a lot of heavy equipment. dust is everywhere. how new does something stay new. zaloga loved his shermans, used buff for dust. mig jimenez talks about looking at modern excavators for weathering advice.

Fantastic cockpit! A question......how long do you wait after working the oils to put the clear?

Hi Matt, I reaalu enjoy your work. Please don’t ger my comment the wrong way but it seems that tour camera is focusing on your hands and not the actual kit part you are working on. It started with the P-38 series so I guess it can be fixed. And again I really enjoy you channel and as a beginner I’m learning a lot.

Would thinned PVA work as well as a decal adhesive, in terns of combating silvering?
@danl.9093 жыл бұрын
Un-thinned Tamiya gloss clear works great. One drop per instrument face. Half a drop for the itty-bitty ones.
@jimmcintosh1842 жыл бұрын
@@danl.909 Ive used tamiya extra thin CEMENT on silvered clear decal film as a last resort, and it actually works.(brush the lion share of glue off the applicator before trying it...)..and I use thinned white glue for setting decals if they are quetionable

i have a question for you..which kit builder beats tamiya?
@DoogsModels3 жыл бұрын
Easy. None of them. At least for aircraft. Armor is a big more complicated. I'd put Wingnut (RIP), Great Wall, and Eduard in a tier just below them. Probably Arma Hobby, too, but I haven't actually built one of theirs yet.
@tonyverschelden67143 жыл бұрын
And how about zoukei mura 1/32?
@JeremyHart19733 жыл бұрын
@@DoogsModels Matt, when it is released, will you be building Arma's 1/48 Hurricane?
@danl.9093 жыл бұрын
@@tonyverschelden6714 ZM is good, even very good. Still not in Tamiya’s class for aircraft kits, though. No one is. There’s Tamiya, then there’s everyone else in a different classroom building. At least Tam sets a standard for everyone else to shoot for. As Matt has mentioned numerous times, Tamiya’s 1:32 F4U kits are unmatched accomplishments in the field of producing injection-molded aircraft kits. I’ve built three, and I will certainly build more. They are a sensual modeling experience to build.
