I really like the idea of a secret key that open a bunch of less secret rooms. Also, the way level transformed at the end is brilliant.

The visual design of the sunlust maps is gorgeous. Watching this versus, say, Hell Revealed II is like night and day. Yeah, HR does the trick with sprites to create bridges, but Sunlust is a visual treat.

So I was just playing through this map. And where the 2 Cyberdemons spawn with the barons, you can hear something teleporting over and over... so I turned on Noclip to see what it was... theres a Doom guy that is just floating down a passage way and he keeps teleporting! Aside from that there is another "secret" that doesn't trigger a secret area. If you walk around behind the area where the Cyberdemons spawn, drop down, its really dark, but there is an area of wall that will lower, drop down, and theres 2 extra Megaspheres + some silly weird message scrolling on the wall. Check it out :D

I burst out laughing when you "You guys suck today!" with reference to the lack of infighting between the Mancubus and the Hell Knight. Thanks for uploading!

It's amazing to appreciate the geometry work developers put into the layout/plan of this level. Maybe there's no landscape whatsoever, but the space connection is uncanny. Making circular and orthogonal shapes work in this way, even that platforming space opening end makes it beautiful. Difficult to conceive without an architect.

I was looking forward to this map. Love its quirky design and eerie atmosphere. The boat on the lake is one of my favourite features.

3:02 There's something especially offensive about an Arch-Vile resurrecting an Imp that you gibbed with your fist, and then the Imp just dying normally after a second punch.

Sometimes when I watch the blind run, it can get pretty tense and I find myself ducking fireballs that are coming at you. It's so stupid. Haha

Some incredible people have been designing the maps on some of these wads, It's amazing how people can think of things like these.

Music is from Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 in Japan). It fits surprisingly well with this wad.

The music fits so nicely with what you are saying (caution, uneasiness with map layout etc.)

The thing about sunlust is this, the difficulty of the maps are a bit scattered throughout the wad, but it's more weighted towards the later maps. That being said, this map was not that difficult unless you play it blind. The one tricky part is the rocket launcher trap, sometimes the hitscans and mancubi immediately target you. But other than that, you get an invulnerability, so the rest of the map becomes a cake walk. But I liked this map.

I recently watched a different playthrough of Map 29 that KZfaq recommended. Holy crap...you're gonna have a time with that. This was a cool level though, and has some of the best atmosphere so far.

Shame you didn't show off the easter egg in this map :P Also it is map15 where shit gets very real, gonna make the call now that your blind run ends at the first proper encounter :D

Those blind runs are the best!!! It is very interesting to see how Decino acts in critical situations

The Sun lusts for your blood.

The floors aren't inconsistent, decino. There's the muddy brown water from vanilla, and a darker, more rust-colored version. The former is always harmless, the latter always deals 10 damage. (with the Doom Terrains or Splash mods installed, the rusty liquid has no splash effect. You have to add the texture names to the terrain lump yourself.)

playing sunlust now while watching your playthrough of it. there's an odd secret room on this map that I thought I'd share (not marked as a secret, of course). after you teleport to the room with the cyberdemons, you can skirt around the southern side of the platform to fall into a pit (damaging floors) and move behind the southern most pillar to the sludge waterfall. trying to press the waterfall will open a room that you'll drop into for some goodies and a scrolling message (I won't spoil the message). thought I'd share in case others are interested!

Map 15 is really the first "hard" map I would say. (and not really that hard but there are a few fights that can easily go wrong ) honestly the only map I imagine being hard and taking possibly a lot of time is Map 30 due to its length for a saveless run. :p

Damn the blind run was so good. Shame you died after all that. Now I feel bad. I did see the archville video but have crap memory and dont remember why the flame teleported around. Really liked this map, really fun! and the ambience was great, especially with the music.

Watching the Sunlust series as a Survival Horror. Pretty close to how Doom was perceived back in the day, at least by the young me.

I was convinced that the boat was supposed to lead you to the secret levels and the yellow key was supposed to be the coin, lol.

Surviving that ambush, only to get scammed by a lowly Archvile. A sad way to go indeed.

``Troglobite, an interesting name`` - it nicely follows the theme started previously with map11 Cave Culture, here as the name implied we are presented with "cave dwellers". :) Also, weaving between those mancubi with archvile and chaingunners around on the first run was graceful like a ballet - #DoomguyIsBaryshnikov . Damn that sneaky archie around the corner he foiled that all, but at least we can't say "no archvile, Sunlust you disappoint us".

I see opinions vary on when this wad "gets difficult". For me, it was map19. I played on UV with frequent saves, and that was the map that broke my will, specifically because of a certain arch-vile fight. I eventually came back and played the remaining maps on HNTR.

When i played this map the first time, i managed to get to the end and only then i started to search the remaning secrets. And of course since the elevator doesn't go up again, i couldn't get the secret at the top anymore ._.

By the way, decino, according to Sunlust.txt, the first episode ends at map 10 (Maru), so second episode starts at map 11 (first "cave" level, Cave Culture), not map 12 There no data on when exactly episode 3 starts, but it may be after map 20 (new look of maps... Though you'll see new "style" at map 17... Hmmm) *_Spoilers ahead_* (?) Maybe you can count the beginning of new episode from teleport-on-romero-head-and-barrels exits ? (Except map 16, which is "seminew" episode, 2.5 if you would say and punishing 28 easy-modo exit) (Map 20 is episode 2 for sure, you can see that in Sunlust.txt) If that, than 3rd episode begins from 21 map and every episode has 10 levels (not counting secret levels) Also, interesting thing: Down here, at the damaging liquid below cyberdemon area, there's a room, which contains lots of goodies (if i'm not mistaking megaspere(s?), cells and a teleporter out of that place) Not sure if you can reach it Maybe Archie jump ? Also, at the end of previous level, there was non-secret secret with 1 (?) armor bonus * Ah, yes, you mentioned before that there may be monsters with changed sprite Yes, it seems there are When you play, you notice that some (all ?) monsters have sliiightly different colours It is easier to see on barons Baron's pink is duller than usual (And it feels like hell knights and some another demons are duller too... And projectiles are recolored too ?) It doesn't look like imagination, but it's a neat touch to make monsters more fittable with levels, I suppose
