About elevators - G stands for Ground Level, then 1st floor in one above ground level. It's quite normal for me, and I always get confused when I see people say 1st floor and it's actually ground level.

2:00 I think they used speckled clay for this mug then the glaze wasn't applied in a thick enough layer inside the mug. Not necessarily a crappy design but definitely could have been crafted better. Source: I've worked with clay, and speckled clay can be finicky to glaze, at least if you want to cover the speckling

I have a sneaking suspicion that the side labels on the lift panel were put there for American tourists. In the UK and other countries G is the ground floor, above that is 1st storey, then, 2nd, etc. In the US, the ground level is floor 1 and G means garage level. Americans might get confused by European lift controls if not given additional labels.

@@klaus.sfc01official30 - Agreed, but at the same time, they don't have to change it. Places that rely on tourism do their best to cater to the needs of tourists. If the owner of the lift gets a lot of American tourists and they're getting confused a lot by unfamiliar labeling, it's a pretty small accommodation to keep their business running more smoothly.

Something that always mildly infuriates me is when people think the icecream is uneven just because they see the top layer. 80% of those types of icecreams don't have their sections going straight down. They curve around and a small layer will go on top of another layer, hiding the other flavor.

The elevator one isn't crappy design. Some countries use ground floor, some use first floor to describe the bottom floor. It's just so everyone understands it, I would guess

Also blame Britain they created the imperial system and as America was once under British rule had to use it and just never changed to the metric system because we became used to the imperial system even though it makes no sense (yes I am American) NASA and scientists use metric however because it's more precise

1:52 I just bought a similar cup. Had to look at different ones in the shop, to find the one that looked least dirty. I just loved the peachy colour it has as a base tone. And I only use it for storing pens on my desk. Love it though.

No, it's actually the way floors work in Europe. Theres like the "bottom floor" then the first, second and so on. It's normal.

The elevator one in the thumbnail isn't crappy design. It's a combination of two different "translations" of floors. In some countries the ground floor is know as the 1st floor, and the floor above ground is 1st floor which would be called 2nd, and the 2nd floor would be the 3rd etc.

I have dysatunomia, and the mask is great as long as I have one with a fan. I kept telling people to just use one like that, but nearly a year later even with the fan I can get faint. I nearly passed out at my doctor's wearing my mask. He looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if I could take it off once we got into the patient room and of course said yes. I've not always been wearing it since when I start feeling faint, and I've found that if you aren't a bitch about it, chances are people won't even ask.

actually in 8:05 many elevators work like that. theres probably a second one that also does 1, 2, 3 and then 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. i think its for efficiency, so people who go to a certain floor dont have to stop in all the floors. ive seen it only in taller buildings tho

The reason for the alternate labels on one elevator panel is because it was apparently an elevator made for Britain but being used in the United States where the the conventions for the naming of building floors are different.

6:57 Curtains can get grossaround bath areas. What you should actually do is get some frosted glass spray and coat it a couple times with that. I did this to the window in the shower of my recently purchase home. And I don't have to worry about the curtain touching me when it suddenly decides to get handsy.

Listen, I don't care how prudish you might be, if you are a power user on the internet you never have safe search turned on unless you have company over or you know someone else is gonna use your PC. And that means you are exposed to certain bits of info that you might not learn other ways. One of those bits of info is learning about BD. In Sweden, the ground floor is called Entréplan (Entrance level, shortened E) in some buildings, and the second floor is always 2

The lift one is how we brits call our floors. Floor 1 is usually on the GROUND so it’s a ground floor and then they number up from there

If I remember correctly, the elevator button that Robin is referring to at 3:59 is that way in order to indicate where the fire escape is. It’s some sort of fire code. The crappy design in that image is actually that the 19th floor button is between the buttons for the 1st and 2nd floors.

yeah almost every elevator where I live has the floor where the outside door is highlighted as a green button, idk if it's for fire safety reasons but it's incredibly convenient for me as a mail delivery man as well
