I’ve stayed in Hilton hotels at least a 100 times in the last 2 years and I’ve never experienced anything like this. I won’t be spending my money with them any longer.

I will also share this video with my colleagues, associates, family and friends; this type of maltreatment (for unexplainable reasons) is unnecessary, unacceptable and truly tiresome. The manager should have sent the patron a complementary breakfast via room service. It would have been a lot cheaper.

That is so unbelievable that happened and must be from their Security training going on now. I used to do that security job at a franchise way back in 1994 and that would not happen at that hotel. Things have changed but I hope this costs Hilton every bit of that 10 mil and more from the other complaints. Hope it bankrupts them as it's despicable how he was treated.

This hotel, DOUBLE TREE HOTEL, has a serious problem with bed bugs. I've heard this from friends who have stayed there, including myself. DO NOT STAY AT THE DOUBLE TREE HOTEL IN PORTLAND... IT'S INFESTED WITH BED BUGS!!🤢🤮🤯

$10 million is nothing to corporations like this. They have insurance that will cover the judgment. They need to sue for $10 billion and that might blow through the insurance and actually hurt them but maybe go for $100 B to be sure.

if should not matter, but for reference sake, I am a white woman. I don't blame this man for filing and I hope he gets as much money as possible. When you go into a hotel and pay for your room, have your key, etc. you walk through a lobby full of seating areas which I, silly me, assumed were for the comfort and convenience of GUESTS which this man was. Makes sense - you check in, remember to call mom, sit down because you are tired and you are afraid if you wait to make the call you'll forget. Seating in lobbies is for exactly that kind of situation. During times when I have been guilty of Reserving a Hotel Room While White, I have stopped to sit on similar seating for less reason than this. No one hassled me. I guarantee you that this is what happened, based on my history of having worked in customer contact positions in my 20s. I guarantee you that there was a (black) man who recently came in there and was not a guest, probably homeless and trying to see how long they would let him stay there. They dealt with him and he was sent from the property. Now every black man who sits on the lobby couches is trying to pull the same thing, (security thinks). I used to try to talk co-workers out of this sort of thing. Shut up a minute, don't go over to that man, wait and see what he does. If he takes off his socks and lays down to take a nap, then you're right, and you might have to call police to remove him. If he ends his phone call, gathers up his luggage and gets on the elevator to go to his room, then he's a guest. Give it a minute of two, you'll see what the deal is. In the meanwhile, don't publicly embarrass him, don't publicly make an ass out of yourself, and don't create a discrimination suit for your employer. Having said all of that, what were to cops thinking They DEFINITELY have the training to know that this is wrong. Should have never put him out of the hotel.
