Legendary album and the best band of all time! Morrissey and Marr are geniuses and you can close music after this

I've loved this song since its release. The lyrics are powerful - "it takes guts to be gentle and kind." Simply, superb. Having said that, I would never listen to this while cleaning the house, but if I were to park the car in the garage, stuff the tail pipe and asphyxiate myself by carbon monoxide poisoning, this would be my jam. Lol.

In case no-one's mentioned this, Jeff Buckley recorded a very lovely cover of this song, not released until the 21st century - also in concert he sometimes blended it with Hallelujah.

A cool Smiths song I recommend to you two is: Sweet And Tender Hooligan or What She Said. They're both kinds upbeat, but lyrically...well you know, the Smiths. I actually had the pleasure of hanging out with Andy, the bassist, a few times a decade ago, as he was making music with a friend of mine. And he is a good dude, and has an amazing ear for music.

Listening to a song that makes you feel emotional, even sad ... Either because you relate to the lyrics on a personal level or just on a human level ... Unless you're a psychopath (not you specifically!) you're going to feel a sense of empathy, we're wired that way and connecting to those emotions and words isn't going to bring you down, it stirs up feelings! The way the song ends, the way it lifts and Morrissey opens up those vocal cords is cathartic. The repetition is important in my opinion, how every line although it's the same line is sung so differently, and so uniquely, and no doubt that was done unrehearsed. And this is no contrived fake emotion, knowing Morrissey's "story" this was his experience. You might not want to vaccum the house but you could probably stand inside the shower polishing away those "tears" all over the shower screen (whilst sobbing uncontrollably ... Just kidding!)

One more comment, the live version of 'I Know it Over' on the Rank album is even more emotional. You may like that one better.

But those missing lyrics make a difference - I personally prefer the studio one.

I can tell by your facial expressions you were really getting pulled into Morrissey's world. Once you start listening to the Smiths/Morrissey...you won't want to stop. His voice is so unique and how he sings the words is so different to other musicians. Been listening to him for nearly 34 years and saw him recently in the UK.

A couple of suggestions ; 1) "Song to the siren" by This Mortal Coil, which features spine tingling and unusual female vocals and 2) "Can't be sure" by The Sundays, which has a Smiths vibe musically but with female vocals. Both songs are from the 80s.

Dudes we'll be here forever i you are going to listen to very smiths song... You're better off listening to whole albulm ,,,, This one ( The Queen is dead ) Is a really good one to start with... Johhny Marr the song writer and Guitarist ( when the Siths Broke up ) Went on and Joined New order... Then When New Order broke up the lead singer of New Order and Johnny Marr made their own band call Electronic.... Morrisey ( Lead sing of Smiths... That Fat f*&^ has / does his own thing now or maybe not who knows who cares... So If You like Smiths, You should like New Order andd Elctronic... Songs you probably head by New Order would be Blue Monday m & Bizarre Love Triangle. I like the song Elegia (link at bottom 1st link) Most people dont like that sog because it has no Lyrics and is almost 20 minutes long... Seconf lik is for Electronic song ... more upbeat than smiths, ad you can tell it is same singer as new order.... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abKJZsmlzrLVnXk.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJ6HpbWeu5bao2Q.html Take ccare eh....
