People saying its a bad thing to pay for the game is crazy to me. We have almost double the amount of content, no mtx, and free content updates in the future is worth more than what they're asking for in my opinion. Plus I think we all agree that the skins in the game aren't worth buying, so paying for the game makes sense.

Remember that the company who acquired gigantic and rereleased it for us is known for their remasters, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they plan on revamping things like responsiveness, graphics, UI, etc

I played it as a 1st timer ie having never played the it when it first came out and it was really fun. Most of the stuff besides the bugs didn't really bother me, but even if this was a micro transaction game. Most of these cosmetics suck, only like 1 or 2 woth buying one a few characters.

having it be paid with no micro is probably whats gonna kill it. if it was FTP with skins as its way to profit would probably draw in way more people and in the long term give it more support

I honestly think I'll buy it just to support this very very small genre that needs to grow! I'm tired of people calling new games in a small genre a clone of the original. It's like calling Banjo Kazooie a clone of Mario 64... Like absolutely dumb. But what do you expect of people.

I understand that the old players wanted a bit more out of this release. However i never played this game before, and as such im more then happy to get this experiance for me and my friends. Also the fact that the publisher gave this game a secound chance is admirable and i can not blame them not "risking" more money on the line by throwing development hours to the wind. Remember, this game had sinked a dev studio once. That being sayd im having a lot of fun so im up fir the challenge.

Yeah i agree was hoping they would go harder with bringing it back. Like remaking it on ue5 or at least more content, guess they can add content down the line but i dont know of them commiting to anything. With the art style i would think i could get 144fps at minimum but to hear that the game limits it to 60 as a result of its design is disappointing. They could have brought it back and taken advantage of people being tired of blizzards bs (like me) but still miss that itch that games like OW scratched.

The biggest complaint I have is there wasn’t an accessibility setting because being able to highlight enemies and allies would help allow them to pop out visually

About the server thing: This is just a thing that's ALWAYS affected games. Idk why we focus on it in 2024. And people act like servers have a "get more duh" fix. They obviously weren't expecting player counts as high as they were

I think I went into Gigantic with nostalgia glasses. I was very excited when they revealed they were "updating" the game and re-releasing it. They had those behind the scenes looks that seemed like they were doing a lot of polish, which only fueled the excitement. It was a game that was so fun at the time, but it was competing with other MOBA-like experiences on top of Overwatch in its prime. Then when they did the closed beta for the Rampage Edition and I spent a few hours in it, a lot of my excitement kinda died. Maybe it's the exposure to the high polish multiplayer experiences today, or maybe I've just gotten older, but I just couldn't get into it like I wanted to. The impact of hits felt very weak. Combined with a lack of particle/animation clarity (and sound clarity in some cases), it was too easy to get "lost" in the noise of 12 different attacks going off at once and their animations completely obscuring characters and the action itself. Then you throw in a lot of these other issues you mentioned in the video and the game we received feels discordant with the work and hype they were alluding to with their developer videos. For such interesting character design and gameplay as it offers, I think it's been dated even more than I remember, and I wish the game got some updates to bring it into a modern era of hero shooters where it could carve out a niche that doesn't have a lot of competition (maybe that's due to lack of interest these days, though?). I'd love to see Battleborn be given a second chance as well, but I'm scared it'd suffer the same issues as Gigantic.

the unkillable bots is NOT a little issue. in every one of my games someone abuses the glitch by leaving and rejoining affectively creating another invincible version of themselves that kills your creatures. this is 100% game breaking so imo the game isnt playable still.

My dream scenario would be this; they re-release this with minor support to keep the competitive aspect going. Maybe a grassroot scene akin to Smash Melee will grow. The devs use the income from Rampage edition to create a team for developing Gigantic 2. A real modern sequel. I am on massive copium with this. I just want MORE gigantic in the future.

Biggest problem for a game is not being able to play it like I went about 20-25 imes of the game saying match found just to say someone left like it honestly so confusing and dumb to bait me into believing I’m finding matches and I’m not

Thank you for the non-nostalgia review! I am excited to see if the devs will fix these issues. I don't have a ton of nostalgia for Gigantic so I don't mind waiting and seeing. Now if they re-released Battleborn, I don't think I could look at it unbiased and I would definitely have nostalgia glasses on.

Good game. I actually prefer the new game mode now. I really hated having to level up and some characters are just way stronger in early levels than others. Also I like the idea that you have to battle for the neutral gather points without having summons that give advantages.

I did the thing where I commented before watching the video. Thank you for bringing up often not considered issues like Ultrawide and servers as an OCE player! I understand the economics of the server issue but I really wanted to support this project and I just can't with unplayable ping and stupid design decisions like no 21:9+ support

I have some of the same issues you have and im in the same boat this game isnt gonna stick because of thses issues and the devs most likely arent gonna bring the game back fully 20 dollar entry fee with no monetization to fund future development makes me think that unless this game blew up like other games have recently the plug is just gonna be pulled in a year

I can’t even play it lol I bought it and been trynna play for over 2 hours, just been searching endlessly and with crossplay on someone either leaves before the match forms forcing a new lobby que or I get far enough to pick my character and someone backs out last min so that’s fun..

the reason is that game dev don'T make beta testing for rush server anymore... game are rushed into the market instead and server stress test is actually that ... normally games would make an open beta free for all to test the server... AND then if the server hold launch the game or fix the issues and delay the launch by few days... but since players don'T care anymore either about playing early access... welll that's the result of lowering the expectation bar...

This game always felt like a blend between battleborne and smite, great game definitely want an update though balance needs to be addressed

the 60 fps cap on a skill based fast pace combo oriented combat is insane to me. it's like putting a speed limit on f1 race. it might kill this games if it's not changed.

A lot of these games are lacking in character development outside of gameplay. This is a fun game, but what makes these characters unique. What’s a good way to this character relatable. Why are they getting these monsters to attack. It’s missing the flavor. I’d rather eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch than eat Brand flakes. I feel like this is what this game is. It’s cool, but after a while, what’s next.

Well, Dota 2 was not always free to play for example. And I think its pretty understandable for a game which only getting released etc. After getting enough attention, it becomes free to play

My biggest issue isnt anything listed but the player base for me, I found out through a stream of a really good player that there were private betas for years so a lot of the player base isn't actually new at all. If I had known this sooner I wouldn't have even considered purchasing, for whats its worth I'm trying my best to have fun even though I'm rolled almost every game, it gets a bit disheartening. Also if you're on the losing team, expect toxicity as usual to add to the disheartening side of the game. Also you pointed out the UI which I noticed almost immediately, I feel the UI is in locked 30, the animations are janky. I would like to see some form of equal and fairer matchmaking in the future and maybe an upgrade to ue4 maybe even 5?

Nah, F2P with micro transaction skins would keep the game alive long enough to fix everything. As it stands, a game like this will see its player base collapse (already has), and the company wont be able to cover the costs of keeping the servers running. It'll be gone again because of their decisions on this.

it does look fun. But yeah, considering that I have to spend 15 dollar and the the game may be dead after a couple of month doesn't sit well with me. In addition, since this game is an old game, I got a feeling like once i try it, i will just constantly get folded by beta-player. Which is fine for me with any other game but then again, If it will really be a short live game then I got a feeling like by the time, i master 1 character, the game be dead. So for me, I will just wait and see if thsi game will survive. edit: for me, this just felt like a cash grab from publisher. Really glad they brought it back, but honestly, even though I like the fact that there's no micro-transactions, the initial purchase fee for a multiplayer-only game is what's holding me back. If the community keeps going strong, I might pick it up, but after the original version got shut down, I'm very cautious of buying a game where I won't be able to find a match/play it at all in a few months.

I payed for the founders pack which cost 30$ 7 years ago to then get it cancelled and wasting my time and money and now I have to pay 20$ so just this is a hard pass.

The hard truth is that gearbox/arc games barely put enough work into the game to make it playable for the gigantic fan base that has been dying to play it again. The game is full of bugs, the servers couldn’t handle 6k players for launch, and there are no quality of life changes to the game that even warrant a $15.99 price tag. I love Gigantic and I always regretted not playing it enough when I had the chance but this feels bad. It feels like in a movie when the main character brings a loved one back from the dead just for them to realized that it was a mistake and that the person they loved would never be what they knew. Judging from the rate at which it took the devs to fix the server issues I suspect the game will died at the same rate or quicker than it did before. The devs working on the game have no passion for what gigantic is for those of us who love it and it shows. All throughout the game are bugs and examples of careless development. I’m sorry to be negative but we have all sipped a little too much of that copium and need to realize what’s going on. I suggest if you like gigantic and you think it’s fun then buy it and play it while you can but don’t expect the devs to fix anything other than making it actually playable. (Which is the bare minimum) Enjoy it for what it is and try have as much fun while you can. I’m gonna try to do the same.

i feel like it boils down to the bells and whistles, at its core its great, but an update to the menues and servers would take it to another level. the main menu should feel dramatic and cool, right now its soooo bland
