What a strange place - mysterious, but also with an atmosphere of menace, especially the Covenanters' Prison. The weathered, grimy stonework only reinforces the view that it's not a place where you are likely to find comfort and repose. Great stuff.

Thanks Malcolm. It is really dark. My daughter says it's referred to as "Dark Academia". It is incredibly atmospheric. I hope I'm going to be able to go in the Covenanters' Prison one day. I find it fascinating.

Really enjoyed this. There is a story about some kids who broke into McKenzies tomb and used his head as a football. Greyfriers Bobby was a Dandy Dinmont breed that is sadly dying out. Looks like you has a great time. Goodness you certainly travel some miles around Britain.
