I'll be waiting on some parts for this rifle. It functioned fine before when we had it at the range, but I'd like to get it fixed up appropriately and accordingly. So this is a disassembly video of the Hakim rifle. It looks tough, but it's really quite easy. With some practice, it would be a piece of cake!

Great to see you are still kicking here. Oh, that is aftermarket flach hider on the end! I love my Hakim! They are such an overlooked rifle. The 8mm is amazing and this thing is really an 8mm Garand-ish but with direct impingement like my MAS 49/56. It is really great how this muzzle brake tames a full military round recoil and it is really accurate for its day and even now if you go with minute of man. I am a C&R dealer/collector and this really is my go to 8mm. I lve my M98, Spanish mauser, 1918 mauser and especially our 1941 AX K98K. All great rifles but shooting the Hakim always brings a smile and is a range magnet!! Thank you for a really great vid brother! Very comprehensive and straight forward. GREAT JOB. Keep shootin!!!

Thanks. I don't even know how old the video is by now. Was fun to shoot and it did have good accuracy when I shot it a couple times.

It's easier to break down the bolt and housing by leaving it on the rifle. With bolt released, slide the cover forward enough to release the safety mechanism. The cover and bolt then come off untensioned. Assembly is reversed and you don't risk kinking or launching the spring. The brake on the front is aftermarket and mounted to the built in muzzle brake. Originally there were also three springs on the trigger guard bolts to prevent vibration from loosening them during shooting.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully someone will come by and be able to use that info in the future! I had passed this rifle on some time ago, but it was fun to shoot. I was a bit perplexed about the double muzzle brake aftermarket one. But it was fun while it lasted!

That piece on the end looks like a flash suppressor.

Someone chopped the sides of the compensator part of the barrel on mine. I think it's releasing to much gas to cycle because of that

Another great video Buddy. My good friend John who shoots videos with me, is somewhat of an expert on this rifle and so many more. If you want, I can put you in contact with Him, He loves talking firearms and helping when He can. Just let me know, great rifle and I think might be the first direct gas impingement rifles made. Happy Holiday buddy.

Sad day, 11 years later and no part 2 😞 My Hakim is making light primers strikes and I'm trying to figure out how to remove the firing pin.

It got sold off for something else long ago. Wish I could help, but you must have already exhausted all the YT disassembly vids. Looks like no one does anything with that part of the bolt. I did see a Numrich parts diagram, and a gunboards thread that popped up talking about the pin in the bolt should tap out. Hope you can get it figured out. What kind of ammo is it striking light?

@@MarshalZhukov Thank you I figured it out! There's a pin in the side of the bolt assembly that you can use a punch to strike thru and remove the firing pin. Yugo surplus ammo. Probably every 4 rounds or so a round will get a light primer strike. I cleaned and oiled everything since so hopefully that fixed things.

@@splintercell275 Awesome hope that gets it fixed. Probably the ammo has some more deeply recessed primers. I found some old 7.62x54R surplus ammo long ago someone just left where I used to shoot when I was in college. They must not have known that the firing pin depth is adjustable on Mosin bolts. Interesting, the rounds that fired with a non recessed primer the firing pin actually punched a hole in the back of the primer, and the primer blew back through the firing pin hole in the face of the bolt. Interesting for sure. My very first Mosin, too. It's also long gone haha.

@ChromeFreak123 Sure, send him my way. Maybe he has a line on parts and can help me find these for cheaper than a guy I already found that's gonna cost me nearly $50 for the parts I need.

Any idea who might have the "Barrel band base (Front)" for sale? this is the piece that bayonet engages and also holds the barrel Band in place?

Wish I could help. A search at the old common places I used to frequent was bust. Unless you got lucky on ebay or gunbroker or something. Or if you're on any forums maybe a want to buy section or something. Looks like a hard piece to replicate, too. Good luck buddy!

Not really. You could make one out of some metal. Drill a large hole and use some small files to shape it accordingly? You'd probably have to take the handguard off to do it that way without a real tool, but it's an idea?
