The R1 0-6-0 was the first 2 rail locomotive Hornby Dublo marketed. ( if my memory serves me correctly) It was always considered an odd prototype to model as by 1959 they were mainly used on the Folkestone Harbour Branch to work Boat Trains up and down the branch.

Good afternoon Chris, thanks for looking in and the information it's much appreciated. I think both Hornby Dublo and Tri-ang may have made some odd choices with their models over the years, but all this time down the line, it makes for interesting collecting. Take care. Oscar

Morning Oscar Another great Southern Region themed video to compliment my Sunday morning breakfast! Somehow the green liveried coaches look perfect when matched with the Bulleid Pacifics, reminds me of my boyhood days travelling from Waterloo to Ilfracombe on the Atlantic Coast Express! It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday at the TCS event. Keep the videos coming they are brilliant.

Another enjoyable episode with your layout. Since finding your channel a couple of months ago I’ve been slowly going through your past videos in order. As many previous comments have said, the nostalgia factor is huge with regards to these models, I’m sure many viewers have fond memories of Tri-ang and early Hornby items, much like I do. Back in the 60’s Tri-ang ruled over here in Canada, those gorgeous red boxes were in every hobby shop and in every toy section of major department stores everywhere. You along with Mr. Snooze have been instrumental in motivating me to dig out the few pieces of equipment I have left from my youth and try to get them running again. It’s going to be a while before I get a proper layout going, and in the meantime I have many videos on your channel to keep me going. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦

Noting your comment about the building and fences moving, either "Tacky Wax" or a product that was called "Clear Dots Tape Double Sided Glue Sticky Sticker DIY 3-15mm Strong Tack" (eBay) when I bought it which is little dots of removable tack like what you would get with a credit card stuck to the letter from a bank will work. I appreciate you will not want to glue so this might work as a solution that can be completely removed. Enjoyed the video as always, Tom.

When I was a kid I used to read "The Model Railway Men" books by Ray Pope. Stories about a Ladd loft railway with characters who were alive on it. Basketball was the express engine starring in these books. I'm now 60 this year and have managed to get hold of a couple of copies half a century on. Great to see your loco running.I bet this is the layout Ray had in mind when writing them.

Hi Oscar, Great session with the 0-6-0 tank in lovely condition. I suppose liveliness can come from power to weight ratio and could be balanced with another coach, avoiding the road to wheel slip of course. Gordon

Morning Oscar, what a great start to my day, how good do all those green trains look. It really is a fantastic collection of trains. It's amazing to me that all the engines sound so different, they all have their own characters. I bet if we blindfolded you and run your trains you could identify them just by the way they run around your railway. I unfortunately missed last week as I was away, and I haven't caught up yet, I'll watch the Barnstaple video later. Take care Oscar, thanks for your hard work bringing these entertaining videos to us. Eddy xx

HI Paul, Glad you're enjoying the videos each Sunday. I had been giving some thought to trying to draw a track plan to help me out with the numbering of the point work, but haven't come round to a satisfactory way of doing it yet, but I am working on it. The approximate dimension of the railway is 4.5 m x 3 m, the well is 2.3 m x 1.3 m, the whole lot stands about 1 m height from the floor, the reach from the edge of the well to the outer edge is around 90cm, the room it stands in is 4.5 m x 4.3 m. All the best. Oscar

Hello Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Just watched your latest video with your great little green tank locomotive. I can just imagine her pulling her green coach on some little branch line deep in the English countryside, miles away from any big city. The type of branch line where all the staff know each other and the locomotive driver and fireman have time for a cup of tea at some of the stations. What a nice thought, sadly that can't be done nowadays unless you go to a private railway, at least we can still do that. Your Battle of Britain class locomotives look splendid Oscar. Sunday morning wouldn't be the same without a visit to your splendid model railway. As I always say, your railway takes me back to my childhood days playing with my railway on the carpet with my dear old dad, who i miss very much. Sorry Oscar, I am rambling on again. Well you have a wonderful layout and I thank you again for letting all of us to watch and enjoy your amazing railway. Well now it's time for my cup of tea and my toasted tea cake. Keep safe Oscar and have a good week ahead. 👍🚂🚃

Hi Oscar, nice to see all those suburban trains together. I may have already mentioned that the 2206 R1 was my first loco, a hand-me-down from an older brother who was more interested in model aeroplanes. Still going strong 50 years on. Just checking with you, is it alright for me to recommend your loco reviews on my channel? I won't be doing detailed loco reviews, I will be concentrating more on the buildings. Your reviews are interesting and thorough and have been very helpful to me, it would be nice to give folks a link to more detailed information. All the best Guy

Hi Cameron, thank you again for taking the time to watch. I do have the odd item from the early 80s, I have green BR 0-6-0 diesel shunter, Morning Star, APT, Battle of Britain, Spitfire, I'm just making a video this week with a couple of items from that period, video should be out in mid April, I think. I've made a conscious effort to try and restrict my collecting to the early 1980s, as this is the point, I lost interest in model railways as a child. Take care. Oscar

It would be interesting to see a direct comparison between Dublo locomotives and their Wrenn equivalents. For example, my Wrenn Class 08 shunter has flanged centre wheels whereas it seems that the Dublo version doesn't.

Hi Oscar, I have a hard time imagining the Hornby 2 rail locos running on Tri-ang Series 3 track? They seem to like it OK, but seem to occasionally stutter just a bit on some points? The wheel spacing on the 0-6-0 may be just a little bit different to Tri-ang, hitting a 'dead' spot on the frog now and then? The performance is very good though, considering these are from different brands of trains? Is it possible to run around the top station in the other direction, or do you just prefer the 'usual' way? So many different route choices, No wonder that a point gets forgotten occasionally? Great video ... Thanks for sharing... Oh, my station bits move around a bit too.. The old locos must shake the table a bit, I guess??
@oscarpaisley
@oscarpaisley 4 ай бұрын
Hi Robin, nice to hear it's not just my station items that creep across the platforms... As you say, the performance is quite good of these Dublo items on the series, 3 there was the odd climb out of the rails in the curves and the occasional stutter now and agin at the points which can happen with the Tri-ang models sometimes, occasionally the presentation at the points or a slight bit of wobble can cause the odd stutter, but all part of fun playing with vintage railways. I can run either way around the upper station. It just seems more natural to run down the long straight/clockwise fashion then the other way, I shall try and remember to show it both ways round. All the best Oscar

Hi there Oscar ,, yet another great running video from you. Do you have any of the battlespace carriages you could run for us in one of your running videos ie the triple axle rocket launcher and the triple axle spotlight carriage and the launching helicopter and the R.567 radar carriaege if you have them that would be great... Also i just wanted to ask you if you play all your videos that you make and release to everyone as I have seen a few videos where i could not watch them as it said something about having to be a member of some sort and want me to sign up and pay money for your content. I didnt click on anything or go any further as i thougnt it may have been a scam site as you can never be too careful these days. So if if these are legit videos (still not 100% sure if they are or not) do you eventually release them to the "poor old guys like me" who love to watch your KZfaq channel all the way from Australia haha ? So thanks heaps for all the awesome running sessions videos you have made and thankyou for your wealth of knowledge that you openly share with us all to watch and learn from you. Good afternoon John, I have odd bits and pieces of the battle space range and the earlier NATO items some of it in quite poor condition, some in quite nice condition. I haven't gone overboard in collecting it and have picked it up when it's come along at a sensible price. Much of the items in the range are terribly fragile so its probably unlikely that I will be launching helicopters and aircraft and firing rockets. I will show some items as time move on. There is a membership option to my channel which has been active for a little over four months there is a growing number of videos becoming available in that section. At present there is an additional video every other week and photographs uploaded on a regular basis, these additional videos and photographs will only be available in the member section, for those who kindly choose to support the channel.
