Hornby Dublo Engine Shed 5005 & 5006 Extension Kit introduced in late 1950s added to the railway along with Hornby Dublo D 1 Turntable possibly introduced from around 1957? Plus Hornby Dublo trains running, along with some Tri-ang Railways Transcontinental Items running. Finishing off with a look through a Trix catalogue/foldout pamphlet the date of which I'm unsure of? All dates are approximate Music Source/Royalty-free Apple loops/Looperman.com

Melly Chlistmas to you and your family as they say out here in Thailand. That Trix fold out my Dad had the entire contents! That was before I was born in 1959! I suspect it is late 1940s to early 1950s. Take good care of it, could be worth a bob or too! He used to get it out on the dining room table every Xmas after we had eaten our Turkey. We enjoyed the 3 rail running in having 2 trains going in different directions at the same time! As kids we had Triang like you show and could not do that! He never let us near it! We sold it all after he died at Bonhams, could not believe what we got for it, priceless!

Oh, Oscar, What a beautiful opening sequence.. The "old" trains are so awe inspiring? I am far more impressed with these, than the new "super detailed" and "fine wheeled" examples that are model railways today.. I will be happy to participate in running "toy trains" as a past time for the rest of my life? I'm sure that I will wear out before they do? I have just fitted new brushes into a 63 year old Dock Shunter, and it still runs beautifully.. It is the Yellow T.C. version, bought back when Mk. 3 couplers were a"new" invention.. It is even still running the original bulb in the headlight? Tri-ang were truly a "lifetime hobby"..

Hi Oscar, Another blast from the past, great stuff. I can understand not cutting a hole in the board for the turntable as it may not be permanent. Lovely shed with extension, I'm sure you get an extra burst of enjoyment digging out these old models and buildings having been in hibernation for some time. I have one these point switches and it just feels so solid and robust which emphasizes the build quality back in the day. Have a happy healthy 2023.

Merry Christmas Peter Hope you're enjoying the festive season, you're right the train sets and locomotives sold on their own in the late 50s and early 60s did used to come with a little glass bottle Shell Oil with a yellow label and the red seal around the top, underneath the seal was a cork stopper with a little metal pin it to administer the oil one drop at a time. At some point they stop supplying this bottle of oil, I imagine it became rather expensive. But it was definitely a great little touch. Oscar

Merry Christmas Oscar. Nice to see a bit motr Dublo this week. The 1960 date is about right as the plastic range of buildings started in 1959. The curved track never had the slots for the buffer stops to deliberately stop you putting them on the end of them.

Merry Christmas from Australia, Oscar. Another jam packed video with lots of interesting items. My favourites will always be the double ended diesel with blue and gold cars. Merry Christmas Oscar. Your camera work and editing are fantastic and judging by the comments well appreciated by others too. As noted many times previously, Triang and Dublo work together even if separate track circuits are required. In addition you have opened the box on Trix Twin which is another manufacturer adding to the wealth of model railway operation in the 1950s. Others more knowledgeable have dated that catalogue to be 1954. Let me know if you are interested in a Dublo lighting kit donation, sadly minus the bulb.

I felt it was about time to use them, so I thought it would be quite nice to see what could be done with the Dublo and Series 3 together, also much series 3 track sitting in boxes in a variety of conditions. Hoping to have some great fun with it, I would be very interested in the Dublo lighting kit if you have one you are no longer in need of, my email address is below. The Trix Twin locos have the central skate pickup similar to HD 3-rail but rather than collecting the other side of the current from the loco's wheels, there is a protruding skate pickup from the side of the loco that rests on the outside rail.

Hi Oscar ,, In the switches part of the video looks to be bakelite or the plastic of the the early 1900's onwards and widely used in the 40's & 50's. Its amazing what was made around that period of time that was the plastic of the day and there durability is a testament to its good strenght and a lot of it that is still used today like as in the small triang power controller boxes with the little red button when there is a short circuit are made out of bakelite. I done a stint selling just about anything on ebay from 2008 to 2015 to save my house after the 2008/9 GFC & I sold a lot of bakelite and it was a 100% sell rate. I come across a deceased estate that the people gave me acces to and there were suitcases full of electrical switches plugs and light sockets of all types made by HPM and were all brand new unused or unused in there little paper jackets and there literally 100's of them and I sold every bit of them and they went to all parts of the world. Its also good to see your new layout expanding every time i see a video you are getting more and more done to it which is great to see. Well its early on boxing day and have some etuff to do today so merry Christmas to you and your family from me. Cheers from John in Australia.

Merry Christmas John hope you and your family are enjoying the festive season that, sounds like quite a find of those items. This material opened many possibilities for the design and production of new products, items made from it look very robust but can be quite fragile and brittle, perhaps age has is a factor in this, but looked after and used with a little care many of these items made from this material will continue to go on. Thanks again take care. Oscar

Fabulous Christmas day video. I loved the running in the introduction and at the finish. The shed looks marvelous, I wonder if additional ones could be added to make a longer shed? Merry Christmas Oscar. Nice to see progress on your layout. The engine shed is such a nice thing to see. I also find that there is current drop with each set of Series 3 points on my Series 3 layout. Extra power inlet points obviously help with this. I also note the the Series 3 joiners are often corroded which doesn't help. Have a safe and happy festive season. Monsville Railways

Merry Christmas to you Oscar and thank you for your work entertaining and informing us over the year. At 27:35 you ask about the date of the Trix Twin catalogue. My estimate is 1955 since that is when the Meteor free lance articulated diesel train was introduced. By 1956 Trix would be giving prominence to the introduction of DC after all previous was AC. By 1958 the new scale Brittania and Ruston diesel would be illustrated. The Meteor train had coach light but opaque windows. Disparaged by scale magazines later as the Haunted House diesel given the flickering lights and freelance design. A change in emphasis with the very good looking die cast Brittania unfortunately to the Trix 1:80 scale that held them back. Rapidly most of the items in your leaflet were taken out of production.
