1. remove shroud and kick panel
2. loosen dash
•two bottom screws and 4 top screws
•use a wedge to move dash away from firewall and up
3. to remove baffle
•remove cover inside glove compartment
•remove 2 upper hoses from diverter
•remove 6 screws
•remove baffle
4. to remove core
•drain rad
•remove hoses
•remove core screws and brackets
•remove hose bracket (in engine bay)
•remove core
5. install core
•the core is just copper and solder. Even slight bending will crack the solder and cause future leaks
•replace bracket and screws
•replace hoses
•replace hose bracket (in engine bay)
6. install baffle
•connect tubes on deflector
7. replace dash screws
•replace two screws on glove box cover
8 install shroud and kick panel

The last bolt from the baffle where he reaches under the dash is more easily accessible if you take the ash tray out. There is an access hole in the back corner. Just reach under the dash and pull the wires/tube down. Then just use a long 1/4 inch drive extension with a 1/4 socket through the access hole. There are also two wiring harness connecters under the far right of the passenger side that can be unplugged to give you some extra play in the dash. Other than that mine went as expected.

This video is 10,000 times better than my Haynes manual . It said just take four screws out...... nothing about the dash. You are the bomb. Thank you sir.

I will soon join the ranks of those brave enough to attempt this job. My '95 S-10 is dumping coolant in the same spot. Update coming soon using your video.

Great job on this video. Especially showing the necessary screws to remove. I would have probably removed more than I needed to. Thank You for your help.

My brother just called me and ask would I replace his hc. I watch a video before yours and I told him no. After watching your video, I called him back and said I will look at his truck. Great video, the few people who hate it can't change their own oil.

Good to see a video on this. I'm mechanically inclined but not on GM's lol. My Pops 93 Sonoma core up and took a dump all over the passenger side floor recently, so I've gotta do the same BS. Thanks for the video, I was dreading having to pull out the entire dash, you saved a huge headache for me.

Dude! I started on last Saturday at 11 am and of course it rained. I got it pulled out Sunday after it stopped pouring down. The new heater core is smaller than the one I pulled out and the pipes didn't match so I thought I had the wrong one. Come to find out it was the right core I just was hesitant to twist the pipes into position. Anyway, I got it reinstalled and all is well. I hope to never have to do this again but if you decide to save yourself some money and need some advice it's fresh in my memory so feel free to ask. You'll need a t-25 torx, Phillips screwdriver, 5/8, 10MM, 8MM, 7MM, and a 5.5MM socket. Total time about a whole freaking weekend as the dash DOES need to come out on a 95 sdime.

I pretty much went step by step with this video. The exception for me was the two straps holding the core. Instead of attempting to remove the top screws (which you had to be a squirrel to access them), I just removed the lower two and bent the straps upward, careful not to kink them.

Wish I had seen this about a year ago. I broke the shroud and found another in a junk yard. Going to try to fix this myself and save about $220-$250.

hello, Im unsure if my heater core is leaking. in times past most core leaks are in the interior of the vehicle. This 1994 silverado 1500 is leaking from the drain hole at the bottom of the passenger cap.

I really needed to see how you got the core in. I got mine in but it does not seat all the way in. It goes far enough in to attach the hoses but then I can't screw the braces back on.

I did that on my 1972 dodge D100. Its a job. I love your vidio because of have a s10. Pick up and an s 10 blazer that I need to do. Question is that why the AC DONT work becaue of the heater core?
@JerrSpud
@JerrSpud 8 жыл бұрын
+Joseph Ryan the AC and heater are two different systems. they share some parts, but the heater core won't affect the AC

maybe the vacuum reserve tank. It should be on the fender.. black tank.

I drop a 355 sbc into my 89 s15 and now i'm trying to figure out my heat it works, but it doesn't change settings like it suppose to due to that hose not being hooked up I think it was possibly removed during the install or before I got it
