Please read these two blog posts. They are sincerely some of the best advice I have for anyone looking for an apprenticeship or trying to get into this industry. But it breaks my heart how many folks end up in these bad and unsafe apprenticeship situations, and how many young people I see go through the same awful abuse I went through. You deserve better. Your clients deserve better. This industry deserves better. Do not give up your life and who you are just to pierce. You are worth so much more.

Thank you for making these vidoes. They reassure me I made the right choice by leaving my apprenticeship. When the only shop within an hour of where I live offered me an apprenticeship, I jumped on it because it was a dream come true. After splitting every moment awake between my job to pay my bills and the shop (unpaid) for a couple of months. My mentor told me one day that I had a week until he expected me to quit my job so I could do open to close 7 days a week. On top of that, I needed to be able to do earlobe piercings on clients that week or else he was "firing" me for not being dedicated enough. Despite at that point, he hadn't had me do anything but a handful of jewelry swaps and shop chores. I went home sobbing because I knew what I needed to do but felt like that was my only chance.

I had a bad first apprenticeship, and I tried so hard to tough it out. I was so relieved when she finally fired me. But I feel bad at the same time because I see all of these people sharing absolute horror stories from their apprenticeships, and it makes me think maybe mine wasn't that bad. 😅

Thank you so much for your time and dedication to creating content for other piercers. As someone who is not exactly in an apprenticeship but is in a bad situation work wise - my boss refuses to buy/carry high quality jewelry or spore tests, so I’m spending my own money on this stuff for my clients, my boss sexually harasses me but I always brushed it off because he was drunk, I have no room for an ultrasonic so I’m cold soaking my tools, I’m using an autoclave for my tools but it’s very old and outdated, I realized rn that I haven’t been paid for my time to do that or to cold soak my items. & it took me a while to realize I’m in a bad situation, and it sucks because I have the best of intentions for my clients. I’m currently looking for other opportunities.

I’m 16, turning 18 next year, and I want to become a body piercer. These videos are so helpful and have really helped me become well informed, thanks!

THIS!! I am ever so greatful i could talk to you when i was in a bad apprenticeship and that you are always still so open to give out help and hope for aspiring piercer. Even out of an apprenticeship right now im still learning on my own, talking to local piercers about getting back into the industry and piercings in general. Shoot, dont get me wrong it hurts my heart not piercing right now because i absolutely loved doing it and seeing the joy i gave clients, but i also know now its for the best for them and for me that im out of a bad situation, and out of a bad low quality studio. So for now, im working my butt off til i can become a good piercer.
