How you like that brand of oil pump ? Have you used other DNJ parts before ?

This is a first for me I’m using DNJ. Interested to see how it performs. Tempted to take it apart and go over the internals. I’ve heard good things though.

My 1993 nissan d21 is leaking oil at the oil pump bolts. What could cause that

+meverick jn philip I would check to make sure all the bolts are at the correct torque. If it still leaks then most likely the gasket has failed.

Is there an oring for oil pump tube.cause I change my oil pump pit new gasket and I still getting oil dripping from one of the oil pump mounting bolts

+meverick jn philip there isn’t. Bolts torqued to spec? Is the area on the cover and pump flat, nothing left over from the old gasket? I wonder is there a crack somehow?

So the pickup tube that feeds the oil has no oring

Is that a drain port or aux port on that pump? Your pump looks exactly the same as mine.

Porsche Duésnburg it’s an access port to the pressure relief valve.

@@CarsBikesandCoffee Ohh! Gotcha! So I can't tap into that for anything... I suppose the appropriate saying should be- I 'shouldn't- tap into that for anything lol Are there rebuild kits for these pumps? I've seen the prices of 'new' ones and for some reason, these things cost more than the proprietary rubbish on my 97 MX-5 o_O!

Porsche Duésnburg yeah, no tapping. I haven’t seen a rebuild kit, is your not pumping enough pressure? Or is the tapping for a different reason?

@@CarsBikesandCoffee it's just old. My original idea was to use that port for a oil cooler but I can always just use a takeoff-plate

@@CarsBikesandCoffee also, if I may suggest; you could get a lavalier mic. They can be had for cheap at Microcenter or Amazon :) it's just a little hard to hear ya without cranking the volume to 'jumpscare inducing levels' if forgotten to turn it back down when viewing other media :p Otherwise, your content is very informative and inspirational! :D

i just saw this video. Last week, and after much reading, Yesterday i finally had guts to replace the gasket to my pump as it has been leaking since i bought the car less then 3 years ago. My spindle did not have that little dot hole. Luckily i was filming me doing this because , well long story short. I was told to TDC, and mark my rotor in the Distributer. With no dot hole i thought all i had to do it line the tip of the rod since it was an off set cut, When i put the pump in the rotor was not at the mark i made, it shifted forward a little. i went back and took the pump back out, put the roto in my marked position, put pump back in and all lined up. BUT the car wont start and the oil gauge does not move. Talking with a friend he linked me to your video, i wonder why you guys didn't talk about the rotor alignment? is it because my info on that is wrong and does not matter? Today in mins i am going down to try again, i guess i wont worry so much about the rotor position. (OR SHOULD I?) Well i finished the job and it turns out marking the rotor was a huge plus.

That’s awesome you got it! Rotor position is helpful to try and get it spot on only because it is referenced for timing. However with that said, as long as you compensate that difference with the distributor it will run all the same. 🤘🏻 thanks for watching!

@@CarsBikesandCoffee well as it happened I did finish it like that on Sunday. However when I tried to drive it on Monday it drove me to the auto parts store which is only a short mile away when I got back in the car to come home it cut out on me on the way across the street. And won't start up I had to get towed home. I won't be able to start trying to work on it until maybe tomorrow I have to believe that the spindle moved and became out of the timing slot because when I put it in top dead center again, and remove the radiator cap the rotor was a hundred eighty degrees around the other end of the marking. When I take apart the oil pump again I hope to find that the markings for the spindle and the casing are still lined up but what would make everything else become out of the same position?

Aw man, well good luck! How does the gear on the spindle look? Does the spindle have a wobble inside the housing, like play?

@@CarsBikesandCoffee well that's what I hope to find out when I take it apart again but it didn't have any problems before so I would find it hard to understand why now. Are there any washers or spacers that I didn't see that would be in the casing or anywhere else on the spindle? I'm trying to learn what made it get out of sync. Give me any clues or hints you can think of

But i have had the car three years and before this job i never had any issue. i just wonder if i didn't see a washer or spacer or something that isn't in there now. i hope you tell me there are only these two parts, oh and gasket lol... Let me ask this. When i started this jon i only took out the oil pump and spindle. Distributer stayed in place. When one puts the oil pump in, do you think it becomes needed to remove the distributer and make sure it is securely in place? Taking it out and back in again?

The biggest thing is your distributor will potentially be off.

You would want to put cylinder 1 at top dead center, pull the distributor, and check the angle of the spline. If it at the right angle, then you’re fine. Otherwise pull the pump and the shaft and redo.

Just posted a video about setting TDC. If you have the head on, very similar just remove cylinder 1 spark plug and use a wood dowel or even a screwdriver (carefully) to see the top and verify on the pulley that it’s at TDC.
