Will I be able to feel the heat through thick winter gloves?

No these are not machine specific, as long as your machine has a 12 volt source to power the grip warmers you can easily install them on your machine.

I have a 1985 Yamaha Riva XC125. I am thinking of putting one or two of these under the seat upholstery between the foam and the vinyl. How do you think they would hold up to The Force of My Butt bouncing up and down on them all day and night? A heated seat would be exquisite in the wintertime, especially since i wear the buttless chaps with nothing underneath. That vinyl gets cold, kin wasabi!

+Vallen Larsen Ha ha! I don't know that these would be the best choice for heating a seat. They get surprisingly hot and nobody likes burnt buns! You might look into a setup that's made specifically for seat use like the Polaris Heated Seat Kit or the Heat Demon Seat Warmer!

since the grips get glued on do the heating elements need to be replaced when you change the grips? cant wait to try these on my dual sport and atc

You'll want to be careful when removing your old grips but you should be able to get them off without having to replace the heating elements... If you try and just pull them off using soapy water and a small screwdriver you'll be able to reuse the grip heaters multiple times. Just don't use a knife to cut the grip as that could cut damage the element

For safety sake I wouldn’t have put the switch right there. Looks like a spot you’d hit if there was an accident.

Can these be run to stator wires if you bike does not have a battery?
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 8 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Langridge I wouldn't recommend it. You won't get the potential heat output hooking it up that way.

just out of curiosity, what is the max temperature that the grips can achieve on the high setting?
@PainterD54
@PainterD54 Жыл бұрын
I don;t know the exact temperature, but they will get so hot you need to let go of the handlebars and turn them down to low of shut them off. I turn mine on high to first warm them up but have to switch to low or burn my hands. They get dam hot!

Hi I bought a set of these with thumb warmer. These had never been used but buddy removed the peeling from the back of the heating pad. They are not very sticky, is there anything I can put on them to help stick?

We think using a couple strips of tape will hold it in place well enough to get the grip installed. Let us know what you end up doing. ~Vinny

Thanks, I'll let you know how I make out. Do you think I can get the stock grips off with air compressor and reuse them?

think this would work with a dirty bike if u wired them to a 12v 10000mAh RC lithium battery protected in the air box?

would a thumbwarmer be connected to the grips or would it need to be connected seperately ?
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 2 жыл бұрын
The thumb throttle warmer will get spliced into the grip heater wires. We have a video showing this process here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtaVmb1625eogqs.html

Do you not carry these grip warmers anymore? I have a set ready to install and was wondering what the draw is for high and low?

I just installed & tested Tusk Grip Heater Kit Part# 1246950001 I would be very satisfied, BUT: I noticed that the throttle side always heats quicker, and on the left side it takes longer... Quite sure is because on the left side the heating element goes directly over bare metal; therefore, the handlebar absorbs heat. The package SHOULD include an insulator to prevent this! The add and the instructions SHOULD at least mention this! Now I am going to have to remove everything and FIX the problem. It should NOT be this way because they are supposed to heat up evenly. Could you suggest a solution?
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 10 жыл бұрын
You are correct. the throttle tube will insulate the right side so it heats quicker. You can try to insulate the left side (not sure what would work the best), but it will make the thicker left grip harder to put on (and increase overall diameter of the grip). I just run it on the bar; the right may heat quicker, but during a ride I don't notice - they both eventually get up to temperature.

opengates777 Yes, these can be ran straight to the battery if you want to connect them that way. As long as you have a 12 volt source you can connect them in a number of places on most machines.

I went to an electrical shop and got some heat shrink that just fit over the handlebar then shrunk it on with a hot air gun ( Hairdryer or blowtorch held well back will work.) then put the element on over that. Improved it a bit.
