I bought a cheap PC controller to use. When on Steam, it said it is designed like the PS3 controller. All I really want to do, as far as playing on Steam for any game is it to be configured as a Xbox One controller. All my games seem to be friendly with the Xbox One controller, so that's how I want to configure it. Thanks.

everytime i plug in my dualsense 5 controller to my computer it works but i still have the xbox layout in games it diddnt change to the ps5 button layout how do i fix that

When I click on my nvidia controller, it takes me to the button layout config, (skips identify) and it's empty. But I can still use the controller in big picture mode. When I start up a game, the controller doesn't work.

do you have to restart the game? i did the rebinding and the game is not picking up the new keys. It's still using what was already bound before. Do you need to put this in the default action set?

I bought an Xbox controller I've done everything you said in this tutorial however in the game mafia on steam, I can use the controller in main screen but in the game only A and B work ....what am I doing wrong?

If I have my base xbox chat headset connected to the xbox series x controller then connect that to my pc to use on steam will the chat headset work or do I have to have a separate chat headset connected to the pc separate from the controller??

I'm trying to get my Flydigi apex 1 controllers extra buttons ( 2 on front and 4 on back ) to be able to work. As of now they aren't used for anything. I don't think my pc even knows my controller has them on it. What should I do ?

I play Tarkov with controller ,and as a console gamer my whole life im baffled that Sony or Xbox has not added this type of customization to controller key binds .Mapping three functions on one button is genius that gives us 48 key binds !Not including the other 16 if u use paddles , there's only 104 keys on a keyboard we barely use even a quarter in games for binds. This makes a lot of pc games including tarkov playable so many pc games could be playable. Assuming the hardware could handle it!And of all things Steam came up with this wow good going console company's smh

I'm trying to play nba 2k22 from steam and i have my Xbox controller connected through usb. I am able to move around in the menu of the game select various things throughout the game but whenever i go to actually play a game or even try some free practice I cant move or anything like that, my controller just becomes unresponsive even though it is still on and connected

Can I get help? I play csgo using the gyro to help me aim faster and it always worked smoothly; but I was playing RDR2 yesterday using DS4 for a Dualsense ps5 controller. And when I opened csgo I forgot to turn off DS4. I realized because my gyro wouldn’t work, so I exit CSGO and turn off DS4. But when I came back my gyro wouldn’t work, and I can’t get it to work again. Furthermore when I go to controller options I see that things changed: there is no rumble option and I have something called rearrange controller order as if I had several controllers connected and when I open it I see a list with « #controller_ps5 » as number one and « None » as numbers two to four. Help idk wtf is going on lmao

Steam's controller support is absolutely convoluted dogshit. Consider yourself lucky if you don't eventually find a game unplayable on controller.

Stream has redesigned the interface to customize the mapping of the controller. Very different from the old version. Would you consider making a new video for that? The only thing i am having issues with is it shows xbox controller buttons when there is clearly a ps4 controller plugged in and ready to be used its driving me nuts and i dont own a xbox controller. Is there a way to force change this?

Can I just make this my Steam controller rant corner? I tried out a PS3 controller, because hey, it's in better shape than my old Logitechs. It's SUPPOSED to be plug-n-play. My PC recognized it fine among the devices. -Did Steam? Nope. I had to go into Steam, big picture mode, to even enable the IDEA of a PS3 controller. -Restarted Steam and boom, okay... it sees my new controller. Does it work? Nope. -Drivers, first thing to check and get that business out of the way. Drivers are up to date, cross referenced with the actual manufacturer website to be certain (because who really trusts Windows' little dipshit troubleshooter?) Nope. -Checked Steam's OTHER little bit of right clicking on a game and enabling the controller, also forcing the check. Nope. -Checked to see if the controller worked with another game on Steam. I'm crazy, right? Can't be ME being an idiot. Gotta be Steam. Yep, it's Steam. -I know the damn thing works but I check my system devices and calibrate it through the settings. Works. Does it work on Steam? Nope. Before and after a recalibration through THEIR settings too. Massively long checklists, followed tutorials, and general PC and Steam knowledge laaaateeer... (but gotta love that horseshit big picture mode) I could only get it to work through some random KZfaq tutorial that installs Xbox controller drivers to emulate my PS3. Yeah yeah, I know x360ce. It didn't work. This was manually installing drivers to trick my PC on a similar, but deeper level. Emulation complete. Wow, what a joke.

My PS5 controller shows connected but does nothing when I'm on The Witcher 3. Which is weird because I was able to use my PS4 controller with the Witcher 3 years ago.
