You and I are going to drink a lot of coffee together. Like, borderline dangerous amounts of coffee.
So, first things first. Pour yourself a mug and I’ll introduce myself real quick.
My name’s Jordan - but everyone calls me “J” - and I’m a 27th degree black belt in chugging coffee.
I’m also strength & nutrition coach, I hold several powerlifting world records, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have my writing featured in a variety of outlets like CNN, the Huffington Post, and Schwarzenegger.com.
But listen.
This channel isn’t for fame, publicity, cash, props, fist bumps, likes, pings, pows or whatever else there is.
It’s a place where you and I can chat.
I’ll never sugar coat, lie, or beat around the bush. I’ll tell you everything exactly as I see it. Some stuff you might like. Others you might not.
And that’s totally cool.
Either way, my goal here is to create a discussion. A place where you and I can get together, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to be better every day.
Like I said, we’re gonna drink a lot of coffee together - borderline dangerous amounts - but I’m excited. Because there aren’t too many online communities in which the sole purpose is to inspire and motivate one another.
And that’s exactly what you and I are going to do here.
To your success,
-J

Helpful tip ive found if you struggle with being satisfied after a meal, and continue to snack after; Tell yourself youre gonna eat again. You will eat another meal later. Either in couple of hours, or tomorrow. Food will always be there. Just simple self talk like that can prevent binging, atleast it has for me

I recently stopped eating ultra processed foods and increased my fruits and vegetables. I was doing this just to decrease osteoarthritis inflammation and it completely took away my cravings for sweets and junk food! It was insane! This motivated me to start checking ingredients and eating more Whole Foods and things with minimal ingredients. I still don’t quite understand it but I’m so happy! I’ve struggled with cravings for YEARS! You may mention some of this in your video, not sure. I just started watching. 😊

@@GM-ue8xc all vegetables, fruits, protein (grass fed grass finished or pasture raised when I can afford it), beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds, etc. i try to eat organic when I can afford it but not all the time. I use olive oil and avocado oil. I cut seed oils. If I do packaged foods I check the ingredients for seed oils, sugar, etc and make sure the ingredients don’t have anything unnatural in them. Bobby Parrish has excellent videos explaining ingredients to look out for and gives better options that don’t have all the processed stuff. I cut out the ultra processed foods. I did all of this to assist with inflammation and as a result my cravings went away and I started to lose weight. 🥰. I also started using stevia, honey, and coconut sugar as a sweetener when necessary but I don’t crave sweets like I used to so I find I only use it in my coffee and that’s mostly stevia and a tbsp of local raw honey. I also make my own chocolate now for the rare occasion I want something or eat a little of a HU bar. I taught myself how to make homemade tortillas and I’m working on making my own bread. I don’t eat these things often because I don’t crave them now but I’d rather have them homemade.

That way you have help on all sides. However this has just helped me, so take it with a grain of salt. Thank you for all your help.

I also loved your suggestion - in another video I think - regarding stress eating, e,g. extra snacks when you're objectively not hungry. I think you said if you're stressing you out about the snack, just put it off 20 minutes. If you still want it after 20 mins, eat it. I've been doing that, adding a nice drink of water and a brisk walk around the room when the craving hits, and I have to say, sometimes I just don't want it any longer after 20 mins. Other times, I still do, and I eat without a second thought! Thank you Jordan, such straight-to-the-point and interesting videos.

I signed up for your emails! 🤗 It makes me feel better to hear you say the things that I try to tell people don't work for me... IF, counting calories, etc. With food noise, no matter how much you've eaten, the closer you get to 0 calories, the hungrier you get and louder it gets! I have a profound appreciation for the way you look at things from all angles and your genuine want to help others! 🙏🏽 Thank you!

This is such a great video! I used to snack all the time because I didn’t want to “waste” my calories on a big meal. Worst mistake ever! Those little snacks wouldn’t fill me up and often were super calorie dense foods. It took a lot of awareness and work to get to a point where I eat larger meals, a few snacks and am in control! ❤

Love this video! So much great and valuable advice! One reason I've always hated and failed at dieting is because of cutting the calories and restricting myself. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and for the last 2 years, I've been on Ozempic. As much as I dislike this medication, especially with the side effects, it's been amazing for my diabetes and aiding in controlling the food noise.

I got SUPER lucky that my mind is hyper-oriented around numbers, because I could simply identify a target for the day, and I enjoyed putting the puzzle together - 200 here, 600 there, 800 here, 150 there, voila, target hit! I can TOTALLY see how people would get totally messed up with calorie counting. I was absolutely one of the folks you referred to with intermittent fasting, though. That lasted about a month, before the people around be told me I had to stop. It was miserable. This video is GOLD for people struggling with food.

I have been struggling with BED since very little. Aside from the obvious mental issues that led me to this path, what has truly helped me with food noise was starting my breakfast with a VERY high fat and high protein meal. I save the carbs for my last meals. It seems to truly keep me fuller for much longer.

I highly appreciate your work, your balance and the straight forward explanations. Thank you for this! For number 8, Alicia Crum explains it well through her researches - only the thought of eating healthier makes us hungry quicker. In the Expectation effect book, of David Robson, there is a chapter on our perception on food vs reality and physiological changes that happens just before we think a thought.
