You and I are going to drink a lot of coffee together. Like, borderline dangerous amounts of coffee.
So, first things first. Pour yourself a mug and I’ll introduce myself real quick.
My name’s Jordan - but everyone calls me “J” - and I’m a 27th degree black belt in chugging coffee.
I’m also strength & nutrition coach, I hold several powerlifting world records, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have my writing featured in a variety of outlets like CNN, the Huffington Post, and Schwarzenegger.com.
But listen.
This channel isn’t for fame, publicity, cash, props, fist bumps, likes, pings, pows or whatever else there is.
It’s a place where you and I can chat.
I’ll never sugar coat, lie, or beat around the bush. I’ll tell you everything exactly as I see it. Some stuff you might like. Others you might not.
And that’s totally cool.
Either way, my goal here is to create a discussion. A place where you and I can get together, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to be better every day.
Like I said, we’re gonna drink a lot of coffee together - borderline dangerous amounts - but I’m excited. Because there aren’t too many online communities in which the sole purpose is to inspire and motivate one another.
And that’s exactly what you and I are going to do here.
To your success,
-J

Great video! As someone who HATES black olives with a passion.... I understand how she feels. BUT when I was in preschool (44 years ago or so) we would be given new foods to try and green and black olives were one of them. I remember enjoying the green olives. I have had a good green olive here and there since but I never really choose to eat olives. I also would never tell my kids that I hated olives! My youngest loves them and I love to "share" mine with him when I accidentally get them on my meal. 😂

I just want to make that note about moderation because I've heard so much about it. It always made sense to me and I wanted to be that person but never could, I could never figure it out. I get a bottle of wine, for example, to split with my husband, thinking maybe I'll just have one glass and then we finish that bottle in a half hour and are heading out for more. The only thing that's helped me to be reasonable and make good choices with food and alcohol is being in ketosis. I had a disorder and a lot of people have this as well. I can finally control myself. This just was nearly impossible on the normal diet.

I’m 37 years old, olives was the only food I despised for years, and I’m just starting to get into them. The ones that converted me are called Castelvetrano. A large, firm, green olive. Get them with the pits in, pitted olives become mushy. And to the capers comment, if they were very large they might actually be “Caper Berries”, which are slightly different, and I can find them in grocery stores here in Canada 😊

She does eat mostly balanced meals but I would just like to point out JG is almost 5 foot 9 for a female. She is above average height in fact she would be considered tall for a woman. Also for an actress who is still working I would say she is very active (plus the kids) Her activity level would be high. I guess you would need to adjust for height, gender and activity. I am 5 foot 2 and only moderately active. My engery needs to maintain a healthy weight would be different. I have more protein in my diet & less carbs - also not really a pizza person. I also do have that one meal in my day that has remained constant throughout the years. That really does take the thinking out of it and it makes it easier.

I realize eating baby food sounds gross, but as someone who has three autoimmune GI diseases (I've had so many abdominal surgeries, my stomach looks like a roadmap), sometimes when my system is in an uproar, I eat baby food, it's easy to digest yet still provides some nutrients.

Thanks for this video. I love her food relationship. As per olives, being a Mediterranean living in Provence, south of France, I love them ! But just remember that green olives 🫒 have a smooth skin as they are « young olives ». If you find black olives with the same smooth skin, don’t buy them ! They are actually green olives that undergone a chemical treatment ! Real black olives stay longer on the tree, they are older therefore should have a « wrinkled » skin.

I don't like olives but can eat them occasionally, in a bowl at a roof top cafe I've been too, warmed by themselves. I dislike them chopped up in dishes because their flavour goes through everything, like capsicum. People often ruin fetta cheese by chopping it up with olives. I prefer sun dried tomatoes.

Lovely video - just don’t know how people need so little (or me so much). Been working on losing weight both by eating balanced & healthy (vegan), drinking plenty of water (also before meals), adding as much protein as possible (though I honestly don’t know how to reach the 120 g I should have according to Jordan) and in a calorie deficit plus regularly exercising. It’s going slow, but I am progressing, about 12 lbs down so far in 10 weeks. My question: I really have to muster all the discipline I have because frankly I could eat so much more and I’m always snacky. Basically hardly ever really satisfied except for maybe after a bowl of hearty bean stew (and yes, I eat rather big portions, veggies, fruit, grains, legumes, tofu, etc.). Is this a question of routine? Training my body and mind to be happy with less? Am I just somebody who’s always hungry?😩 damn, it’s hard. Any good advice?

FYI, one ounce of cheese or almonds on a salad has more protein than 1/3 cup of black beans. Walnuts are about the same as black beans. Many vegans don't worry about protein so much and it is not a health issue for them. Many believe it's a myth, as we were all designed to live on tropical fruit. Alcohol is always bad for everyone, 100% of the time and no part of it is aligned with health. Olives are a high oxalate food, a surprising number of people can't have them, as they form kidney stones more than the average person. When my own partner went through it, after being hospitalized and needing a massive dietary shift, we realized many of the foods he didn't like were foods he can't have on a low oxalate diet. Delicious and healthy things like tangerines, raspberries, soy. So his preferences were intuitively better for him. I would have thought the same thing, that you just need good quality, fresh Castelvetrano olives. But better not to push olives, they're not good for everyone.
Wait for the last one! 👀
