It's one of the pluses of the NHS - public doctors aren't working for the money, but the passion of the job (but YOU WILL be waiting a long ass time for an appointment compared to private medicine)

Hi Adam just to say thank you for a straight up, honest to God presentation today. I hope folks see your videos and understand why the barber, the hairdresser, the vicar or your great Aunt Fanny should NOT be messing inside anybodys ears. You should go to the audiologists who are trained to a very high standard of education and mostly they have a wealth of experience amongst them. If it all goes wrong, I'm guessing the barber wouldn't want to know, worse..... they wouldn't know HOW to deal with such a situation. So once again thank you. 🌹❤️🌹

I agree! Going to a barber or somewhere that doesn’t have a certified and trained audiologist is a dangerous risk, much less trying to do it yourself. Don’t do it!

Audiologist are not detailing ur ear like a car. they are solving the issue causing the patient problems as Adam said. also a bit of ear wax is needed to protect our ears from infection, insects, etc. otherwise we wouldn’t have it. it’s worth a few extra dollars (pounds) to see a medically trained professional. i watch a lot of audiology channels from the UK & have seen & heard about many awful things happening, so please see a professional!! not the barber or a pharmacist or some random discount shop … investigate & research & make sure you are seeing someone who knows what they’re doing else you may have permanent damage & hearing loss

As a physician, it always floors me when I hear Audiologists say that people comment, "why didn't you get all of the wax out?" For at least the last 90 seconds of the first ear, I wanted to shout at my phone "why are you still in there trying to get more ear wax away? Enough already! What are you doing to that poor woman's ear? Perhaps if people thought of it a bit like wheel bearings... you need a bit of cerumen in the canal to keep the canal healthy, just like a dry bearing can be rough on the bearing...

Great information re who cleans your ears. The barber can't with a few hours training, heck NO. You cannot dig in my ears with little or very limited training.

I had my ear removed and part of my skull which were infection eating away. I had been going to my GP 18 months with awful pain and blood. I got flu ear and wax and an infection. I'm now deaf so need to get hearing aids.

I use the drops that dissolve the wax and it drains out. Best thing ever. Are people just ignorant of the many ways to clean your ears without shoving a qtip into it? I got this soft spiral device that helps remove excess build up. Its nice how it can get the deep wax.

Some people have different ears than yours. They produce more wax.Their ear canals are narrow or curved. Some are very old and might not know better. Doesn’t mean they are “ignorant”
