Man the music in the XIII series is so underrated/underappreciated

I played this a few months after my fiance passed away and it really helped me work through some of the grief. It will always special to me.

The FF13 trilogy is both tragic and beautiful, and its stellar soundtrack takes everything to yet another level. I've played hundreds upon hundreds of games over the last forty years, but the experience I had with FF13 (and LR in particular) is the only one that still lingers on my mind. P.S: I think the time mechanic in LR was crucial to the game because it lent weight to the fact that the world was moving towards its inevitable end.

I'm just glad for people like you Sarah who gave this one a shot and not get thrown with the bandwagoning hate. For someone like you who loves FF7 and is invested with the franchise, I love how you only said good words about it! Love you!

This is my literal favorite Final Fantasy game. I am pretty upset that there seems to be a real chance Square is going to not HD remake it for the PS4. Apparently the Steam version isnt all that....great...

I am totally on board with this “give the current protagonist all the outfits of past protagonists,” and changing NPC dialogues according to your outfit. That was actually a really subtle, awesome touch. I love details like that.

I love the XIII trilogy. Happy to see someone else like it for once. Sadly I never got finish Lightning Returns. My XBOX 360 broke when I was playing it so I never got finish it. Still hoping that Square releases all 3 games for ps4, even if it's just on the playstation store.

I love how at first, all the Yeuls speak in unison, but then they stop and the singular Yeul speaks directly to Noel, restarting the sentence as if convincing herself of something she doesn't really want to do.

I was watching this out of curiosity it made me realize that though all the final fantasy games are not related it really helps to play much of the series to gain greater grasp of the stories throughout them since they use a lot of story ideas in the series but they are not just a rehashing really

I played this many years ago and loved it for all the drama and resolutions to serious psychological pressure. I remember that I liked Caius and Lightnings moments the most, but now (after my kids have grown up and I'm almost 40) Sazh has brought me to tears. You can become so angry and gritty, when you try to keep your children safe (or "alive" in his case) that you don't realize that you're creating an environment for them that is completly void of joy and laughter 😕 Seeing Sazh getting his smile and happy personality back is so fulfilling and wholesome, when you've lived through such an experience yourself 😅

Yeah, one of the best ending so far, really loved it!

It does make sense actually. Noel changed when he realized yeul wouldn't want him to kill someone who was his friend. Lightning changed him or rather saved him as a savior. All her friends lose hope including her. She boxed herself up. It wasn't God who took her emotions it was her. She was mourning her friends after they stopped looking for a new future. Lightning wanted to show them that this wasn't the end for them.

Honestly loved the FF13 trilogy. Nice to see someone else enjoy it! Kinda wish we had gotten the party from the first game fighting Caius in the Lightning Returns world setting. Brings the best element of each game in my opinion.

Imagine having preordered XIII-2, excited to save the world, and then find yourself screaming at the screen, and then having to wait years to get any resolution. That's why Lightning Returns was such a redeeming game for me. It was the ending this trilogy needed. We really deserved a happy ending after what XIII-2 did to us. It finally makes XIII-2 playable again. I had just finished playing Prince of Persia (2008), which kind of has the same kind of ending, and I was furious at that game, too, but at least Square gave us a resolution with LR. As for the time mechanic, Majora's Mask is one of my two favorite games ever (along with FFX), so clearly, it doesn't bother me. And to the end of my days, I will defend the XIII trilogy.

The ending of this game gets me everytime I see. It's so beautiful😭.

It's good to see some more FF III love out there, is the first FF I finished and is still today in my podium of favorite FF. I also get emotional when I listen to that version of "Eternal wind" in the game :D

Lightning Returns is the best. I love the main and side quests. I finished the games 5x hehehe

So Sarah, the ending was the story of the big bang and the birth of Earth. In the end, if you look at the sign next to Lightning she is in France. That's why she says we'll meet again, she is referring to being reborn on Earth in France and she's going to meet the others after ending up on our world. The trilogy was the crystal legend she is referring to.

I would like to see you take on Tales of Symphonia. One of my favorite games of all time and I would also put it up there with the psone Final Fantasy’s in quality.

I love the series, I still believe LR deserved way more love than what Square put into it, it's a fun game, there are parts that are very well done, but most of the world looks and feels unfinished because of the lack of budget and time. I hope square one day create a remaster of this series, I would buy it. :D

When Light says "I only know that soon we'll be together" she is talking about all of her friends, as one thing Hope says to her near the end is "don't worry, we'll be together" It's the whole meaning of her salvation, accepting help from others, and learning to be vulnerable again. I kinda wish we got to see them all reunite at the end, but maybe (i know there's like a 0% chance) we'll get to see them again some day

The thing about this game is everybody tries to rush it out of panic. When they do, they realize they have days to kill at the end. And, imo, the best tune in the game is the Ark theme. The main issue with XIII-2 was lack of difficulty, imo. I beat most enemies before they were even staggered. XIII was the best, but they were all cool. These games really are good, said from a person who has been around from the beginning.

I've played it twice before but I just finished replaying XIII-2 not too long ago so naturally now I wanna play it again 😅

I know there's like a novelization of several chapters where there's this journalist trying to interview the characters, and there it's heavily implied that the person Lightning means to meet in the epilogue is Hope - Hope whose rightfully returned to his adult body, of course, thank goD. I know there's a lot that gets lost in translation, especially as far as the Hope / Bhuni connection is concerned. I can't help but think things would've made much more sense if Hope had returned in his adult body for the entire ending, to help visually represent everything that'd happened to him in the background of those 500 years of torture. But eh... What can you do.

Lightning Returns was legit, 13 has a special place for me since it was my first ff to really complete , but this last one did darn good.

The 13 trilogy reminded me a lot of 10 (my fave game). Both 10 and 13 trilogy had me crying the whole time way more than any other FF game. Im glad to see you ignored the nay sayers and had an open mind with the 13 trilogy and saw it for what it is ❤ Just grabbed a cuppa and looking forward to the next hour and a bit :) EDIT: just finished watching this and i cried so many times lol. Most of the people who actually don't like Lightning returns either don't understand it..or are suspicious (people) themselves. The Final Fantasy XIII - Lightning Returns story is VERY special. I'm crying with you, remembering my own playthrough but also this is all really emotional. My poor heart T_T

I really enjoyed playing LR. While the ending was really cheesy (read: friendship and magic will save the world), it had a total feel-good vibe to it. I remember feeling very hopeful for the characters when I saw it for the first time... made me smile. After going through hundreds of hours of play time, and numerous hours of cutscenes watching the gang angst and suffer their way through the trilogy, this was a much needed respite. Thanks for sharing so I could watch it all over again!

This was my first Final Fantasy game series I played, the Lightning Trilogy. It’s the series that got me into Final Fantasy in general, then I saw Sarah’s play through of Final Fantasy 7 original and I was instantly left in Awe of how beautiful that game was, truly such an amazing game series and I can’t wait for FF7 Remake when it releases

I downloaded it and I really had a great time, I have the whole trilogy, in the PC version, as for the last installment, to handle the camera manually, accustomed to the previous versions, it was strange until I configured the keyboard well and II finished getting used to it, then with the missions it was stressful at first I didn't know that at the same time you could go to different areas and do many missions at the same time. Another thing, I recommend playing all the previous saga. Since the last one gives you an expoiler of the end of the previous installments. As for the saga, of the three that I like the most was the last.

13-2 was my favorite, but that was because i liked the theme the most probably. Also the game play. lightning returns was my least favorite, but I still liked it. It took multiple game plays for me to fully enjoy. The time mechanic was only a problem because i do like to take my time in these games. nice vid. i'm glad you enjoyed the series. good timing too with the kingdom hearts possible directions.

Ill start by saying ff13 is my favorite ff. Followed by 13-2 and then 13-3 (7 is next followed by 10) After watching several negative reviews of ff13, much less the whole trilogy I guess the algorithm showed this ladys playthrough because my bias. My main issue with 13-2 is the fact it disregarded my hard worked for ending in 13 to extend the story, but Caius carried so hard in the other two parts it saved itself in my eyes. I needed to play Lightning Returns because i wanted to see everyone get their happy ending. It was worth every second of gameplay, but the time mechanics killed it for me in any other playthrough cause i know i would have to do new game + to get everything i wanted. [R.I.P the time i wasted inefficiently in the valley with Odin and Caius] If you know anything about the epilogue, im happy for everything except one MAJOR thing. Snow and Serah never were confirmed to have met each other in the new world, the fact the writer for the trilogy allowed epilogue material but never canocially confirmed them getting back together will forever be my biggest gripe of the entire anything involved with the trilogy. I still get mad af, even as a certified Stan of the series.

I haven’t played this game, even gave my Aerith code to my best friend - because he is a bigger fan than me, and now low key regret it lol - and I got to saaaaay, even tho I got all the spoilers I am getting this on Steam asap and play it myself.
