Something similar happened to me. My truck was out front of my house parked diagonally. Drunk driver t boned it going highway speeds on a residential street. My ex and I ran outside after hearing the collision and he was backing up and driving off. My ex tried running down the street after him which is hilarious in hindsight. Guy got away but it was a small town so the cops found him a few blocks away passed out in his car. He said he must have hit a fence 😂 Nah dude. That was a 99 Dodge Ram 2500. His bumper and the GMC emblem were still sitting in front of my house next to my smashed up truck. Drunk guy said he'd been out hunting but missed his family and wanted to be home. Apparently he planned on driving the 80 plus miles home that drunk. He thought he was on the highway when he came driving down our street. It's funny now, but it sure af wasn't at the time. Totalled the truck. But hey, after we saw that a Yukon can smash something that hard and keep on going, we used the insurance money to go out and buy one of our own 👍

@@heroslippy6666 When stuff like that happens I find a fast food place and eat a burger. They'll probably move on to ruin someone else's day and since they're ahead of me they'll be unlikely to be able to turn back and follow me. If they try it's police time but that has never happened. Not even with jerkface car drivers. My other strategy is to back off while I search. Turn on cruise control to 5 or 10 under and maybe put my hazards on. They usually were wanting to go faster so they will only slow down to an extent to try and inconvenience me. Sometimes that's enough to get them to move on with life. If I don't react then they usually lose interest.

That should work but... Years ago on an empty stretch of Rt.15 in Pa. at 3:00am had a semi who wouldn't pass or stop tailgating. Left lane, right lane, 15 over the limit, 15 under didn't matter he stayed 10-15 feet off my bumper. Finally I faked to the right swerved onto the left shoulder and braked hard. Then waited for about 10 minutes. When I crested the next hill there he sat on the shoulder, waiting for me. Killed my lights and floored it. Was doing about 100 when I passed him. Didn't slow down for quite a while. Often wondered what his problem was.

That parental unit really needs to have the child removed from its care if it can't take responsibility for a small child, but instead screams at the innocent driver for nearly hitting her. Morons that have children without a clue as to how to raise them, protect them, and worst of all, not having her hand in his (but I can't call that thing a real man) to make sure she crossed the busy road safely---sterilize them, get their stupidity genes out of the gene pool! @gnarthdarkanen7464 2 жыл бұрын
The jeep stopped a little abrupt, maybe... BUT it STILL stopped OUTSIDE of the crosswalk symbols... NOBODY got hurt, and the vehicle was clearly IN CONTROL 100%... No. The CORRECT answer is to exchange a few worried expressions with the jeep driver, offer a bit of understanding, and then EXPLAIN TO THE CHILD about the importance of not assuming everyone's always going to see you and/or stop in time on the road. By presuming to berate the jeep driver, "Parental Unit MORON" only gave a clear example to his impressionable child that it's okay to expect the right of way all the time... AND this is EXACTLY what gets a LOT of people killed as adults, whether they take up riding motorcycles, driving cars or trucks, or any other form of transportation on a daily basis. On the road (or anywhere, really) YOU are the one and only person in the whole world that you can control. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for your own safety. Taking off in a dead sprint the moment you see a light offer the opportunity (legal) to do so is a SURE FIRE way to meet a HORRIBLE end sooner or later, and definitely sooner than you'd like... Failure to teach such responsibility to your child is tantamount to criminal negligence, reckless child endangerment, and outright abuse... AND those who would hasten to argue or chastise me deserve to bury their children and be arrested for their demise(s)... ;o)

@@emmapeel8163 And so does my Dad (and me) where there's a Trucker behind us. Thing is, it was only one lane going in that direction, so we really didn't have a second lane to pull over, though I guess the counter argument to that would be that "well, we should have just pulled right over to a stop and let him through, then get back on, once it was safe." Which maybe in hindsight, we should have, though usually on those roads, it doesn't stay one lane for long, and eventually becomes two lanes again. I'll point out too, my memory of the incident is somewhat fuzzy, I don't think he was tailgating us, at least not fully, not enough to notice anyways.. And I definitely want state my Dad wasn't driving below the limit, he was driving right on it. I'm going to point out too, that road is somewhat notorious for truckers swerving over the adjacent lane (probably due to fatigue). There was actually one incident a long time ago where I was driving on that same highway, and another trucker that was driving in the opposite direction swerved into my lane almost right in front of me. Thankfully I had enough reflexes to quickly pull over and avoid being hit head on (other drivers behind me started to honk wildly at the truck who eventually swerved back into his lane). It was a bit of a traumatic moment. I'm also thankful that I was going the speed limit because if I was speeding, I maybe wouldn't have had enough time to react, and it could have turned out very differently. Which is why on roads like that, uncontrolled access highways I think they are called (basically a highway that has no median divide between the two directions of traffic), I always go the speed limit, and whenever I'm about to pass an opposing truck, I always pay close attention and pull slightly over until we pass each other.

I have some questions: What is the significance of the word 'Stop' on some signs? What is the deal with those weird red/amber/green lights you see all over the place? Which is the best speed for snow driving.....60 or 70 mph? What are those PESKY things that look like 2 giant flashlights, that ruin your car when they hit? They keep hitting me at junctions at night time. What the HELL are those HUGE multi-wheeled things that I see on the road? They hurt like HELL when they hit (and are VERY difficult to spot). Finally.....how am I still alive? ;) Seriously, though....I despair.

I was almost in a wreck today. I was sitting in the turning lane to turn left, when the truck comes up in the median and is to the left of the line. The light turns green and this truck starts going at a angle. I start going and them this guy just keeps going. I was just in line minding my business. I blew more horn and he just kept going and to avoid a wreck I slowed. I was in traffic and had the right of way. If I kept going and even after warning him with my horn he tried to hit me to cut me off. Who's fault would it have been? It was avoidable so I stopped but I could have easily kept going. Idk if it makes sense how I described it. It was just frustrating having a somebody try and cut me off and but himself and myself in danger.
