Any company doing the amount of business that Etsy is, should have free customer support. $40 is too much for that list of things that should be given as a courtesy. They need to make Etsy ads more user friendly and customizable.

I would like to be able to place a single listing into more shop categories. And not have Etsy advertise my competitors on my listings. Especially on ones that I drove the customer to from my social media or to the ads I’m paying for.

Higher place in search - I don’t agree with this. It keeps the new stores down (who can’t yet afford $40/month) and only helps the already thriving stores. The chat/phone support and suspension notice are just ridiculous. This should already do in place.

A separate HANDMADE category for genuinely handmade products .

We shouldn’t have to PAY to get customers support !!!! We also shouldn’t have to pay to know why a store is suspended !! So NO, I wouldn’t pay ! I have a small shop and $40 a month wouldn’t be worth it for me and probably many others. If you have a large Etsy business then $40 is nothing. A charge like this could force the small shops off Etsy. It would definitely force me off the platform.

No i wouldn't pay for that. Some of those most important features should be free. And paying for higher placement would squeeze out the little guys. I'd rather compete on a level playing field.

No! I disagree totally with paying to have yourself ranked higher.

I think it depends on where you are in your journey. $40/mth is not much to an established, successful shop but the features would make it even harder for a new shop with limited revenue not willing to pay the fee to break into the Etsy market.

Did you come up w/the $40? $10. would be abetter price for stuff they should be doing already. They take a fee everytime I sell something (that's called a commission) so that really should be enuff

A few of those should be standard anyway. For my small shop it's not worth it but I can see how it could be useful for the big players.

You should never pay for what is common sense and Etsy should have by default... if you start paying for those things, the amount of features that now are "free" will end up being a "pay for" feature in a future.

No I wouldn’t pay, if Etsy does anything like this I will shut down both of my stores. The only shops that will get any traffic will be the ones that pay

Although most of these items should be free, I would pay $40 when and if my shop ever made enough sales. At this time no I wouldn't, my shop is new and would not cover expenses plus another $40.

I really hate the new listing editor. I wouldn’t pay $40 a month for that but I would pay a one time fee to keep it.

I just have to comment on this one. That would be a big no for me. I'll explain why. The big one is to get ranked higher in search. For me, I can't afford 40.00 a month. Until I grow in my business, 40.00 a month is not an option. For number 10, I have seen on Etsy shops, a way to request a phone number. I think through options or variations. I have done this before in my own shop. This would not be needed because you can already do this. I pay enough in fees now, I don't need an extra 40.00 a month. One thing I'd like to see is international shipping like eBay does.

I need # 9 the. most, but would I pay $40. I have 3 stores so $120 is too steep for me I think. All of these features make etsy better and they should already be offering these items.

Yes possibly for #3 alone, but I'm afraid that would soon become saturated and worthless. I agree with most everyone else these should be FREE, as it would make more money for Etsy ESPECIALLY telling existing shop owners who have put a lot of time in their shops and are making money why they have a problem with possibly just one listing so they suspend the shop. To me they are shooting themselves in the foot when they do that without telling the shop owner why.

One thing I wish Etsy had and if it does I haven't found it, is to be able to keep a Variations template that you can create and add to your listings, rather than having to rewrite every colour or size . Being able to create a couple of templates would be a time saver. I know ebay has this option but not seen this on etsy

I'd pay it. I'd also add the ability to toggle between my 3 Etsy stores from a single log-in, instead of having to open 3 different browsers. The way that Instagram and Pinterest allow. That would help my productivity immensely!

Keep old listing editor YES (I absolutely HATE the new one!!), Higher placement in search YES, Etsy Chat Support (PHONE customer support sourced from the US!), Store suspension reasoning/solution should be automatic, but yes that I would pay for, YES YES to more variations!!!. No. Customer service and explanations of suspensions should be free already. A lot of the others don't matter to me. I would pay $40 if there was only payment processing and ad fees, not listing or transaction fees. The main thing I want them to change is to not take the fees off the total including shipping charges when it is an international sale or an upgrade that the customer makes. I don't feel it is fair that I have to pay a chunk of money to something that is out of my control. For example, if a person buys a $8 item and it costs $25 to ship it, I don't want to pay ad fees and etsy fees on $33 when the high shipping cost is nothing I can do anything about.

You’ve had almost a year to become used to the new form. If you haven’t then that’s on you. It’s objectively better but humans resist change. Item 6 (suspension reason) is something we’re owed. Don’t even suggest that should be a premium. Priority support is good, but no more than $5 a month. We already have ads for search priority. Most spend more than $40 a month on ads, so why would Etsy give that up?

I have a vintage shop & already have customer support with the Star Seller program. And I wouldn't pay etsy any extra for any of the other items mentioned, although I would like the old listing format to stay:)

No, I would not pay a fee for that. Most of those should already be free options. I would like for them to keep our messages from when we are the buyer vs seller separate in ranking for Star Seller. I’d also like more options in creating sales and coupon codes - schedule sales by time, not just by day and one time use coupon codes. When selecting categories for sales and coupon codes, have a drop down box where we select the categories we want included instead of have to select them one at a time. Be able to set a minimum order requirement for customers. I have $2 and $4 items in my shop. Anything under $10 is more time consuming than profitable and they rarely become a repeat customer. I would also like the option to be able to include a listing in more than one category in my shop. Have a permanent “New Listings” category where all new listings will live for 30 days and also be in their respective category as well.

The thing I would pay for would be, being able to uploud more than 20mb files and more than 5, I have to put some of my uploads on google drive and dropbox, 20mb ids't enough for a high resolution file

Yes I would pay $40.00 for these items. My favorite - well there are several - but I'll just go with "keep old listing editor".

If you put a lot of work into a store and then get suspended without any chance to rectify and fix it almost makes etsy a no go. These points should be for free! I would however possibly pay the 40 as a safety net. Maybe with the added extra of 100 listing renewals/ new listings. Also if everyone is paying for higher placement it all becomes a moo point as it would still come down to algorithms.

All great ideas. Except for the additional advertising, the amount of fees we pay should cover those services though imo, so no, I wouldn't pay

another thought. Etsy needs to quit penalizing us for local pickup. They hold my money and they don't give me star status because I have local pickup sales.

Yes I would pay. Also international orders takes too long to reach customers, gets lost, never reaches . Need to get phone access to carriers.

Hey Nik. Definitely need the tier access. I think everything else should be standard provision especially the customer service. Even Amazon communicates directly. They do with me anyway 😂 I know you've said different categories has been tried and tested before however I truly believe if Etsy invested some time and £££ developing this it could be hugely beneficial to sellers and buyers alike. Or maybe Etsy should just stop pretending to be about being handmade now and just say they're about gifting and provision of supplies to homemakers ? Why does everything have to cause so much drama and upset. It's not rocket science. All businesses change and evolve over time. Etsy can't please everyone. Whether you're an external or internal customer, learn to pivot or move away to something conduicive to your own business needs. Oh yes, and find a way of blocking those pesky bots that are blighting the platform.

No I wouldn’t pay for any of those things. With regards to ranking, not everyone can be at the top or rank higher all of the time. The rest of the list is normal stuff that should be already provided. I would pay for the old way of Etsy advertising where I had the control.

I would also pay $40 a month if Etsy would allow us to log into our multiple shops at one time, instead of logging in and out for each separate shop.

Hi Nik! Even though l find it an absurd but...the way things are going...l would put my ETSY ADS in ZERO and yes l would, but are they offering this? I didn't read anything about it. Of course having their algorithms generating more views is super important, once this was the worse May EVER!

New listings form has NO translation field for those shops, who use 2 or more languages in theirs shops. I asked support about 3 weeks ago, they've promised to contact me per email, but they didn't. I am really frustrated, because all my translations will not be available to change after June 25th. If I will change my English text, German text will not be changed? It can cause miss understanding and claims from my customers.

No, its difficult enough to find handmade items on Etsy, this would only flood etsy with even more of the cheap imported listings, i'm saying this as a buyer and seller.

I hate the new listing editor. And I would love to be higher on the listings. However they would still charge fees which are going up so no. I wouldn't pay £35. A mo th. I'd rather have and I do have my own website and it's cheaper than that. Yes I have to drive my own traffic, but I can't see how etsy drive anything to my shop. Etsy is going downhill rapidly so it's a no from me.

100% I would buy it The listing editor is awful, I get an error every time i update the listing and have to use desktop to switch to the old form. Some features I wish they had: -provincial/ regional shipping rates ( in Canada it can range from $6 -$20 to ship an item, therefore i have to settle on an average) -Also the star seller response rates i am not a fan of...24 hours to reply to ALL inquires. Some messages I receive are just a waste of my time. I'd say 90% of the specific inquiries I get or even asking for further discounts don't even result in a sale. If i miss even one message I can lose the star seller badge. -Better inventory and sale analytics would be nice. For example being able to sort through old inventory easier and liquidating products by age or lack of sales.

I would definitely get a $40 tariff even if that didn’t include ad credit. My biggest issue is that there’s no HANDMADE CATEGORY. Etsy needs that for those who do make their products, pack it and ship it with their own hands.

$40 is too much per month for beginner stores to pay to be able to rank new items. I am not confident that Etsy customer support would be any better if you paid for it. Customer support should be free and part of normal business practices as well as a 14 day notification of why they are removing an item from your store or suspending the whole store. These should be part of SOP.

So this would be another subscription tier? Some of the items would be good in a new tier. Honestly everything EXCEPT paying for higher placement in search. That would just lead to a bunch of crap on the first few search pages and everyone else unseen. Placement needs to be ranked and because it's Etsy, Handmade should be one of the ranking criteria. I think a blanket 40.00 is too much. The subscription tier now is 10.00...maybe make a 20.00, and 30.00 tier each with more options. I think Etsy needs a dedicated team who can work with each shop owner to verify they handcraft their items via phone/chat/showing their process privately etc. This then allowing an Etsy Verified Handcrafted badge on the shop page. Part of me thinks this should be free to build Trust with shop owners, and then part of me knows this mess Etsy has let evolve is going to be costly to fix so a one time verification fee might have to happen. I also think we need a NON-AI tag or field in our listings, maybe in attributes. Part of cottage crafts is making your titles and description. Of course AI can do it better, but would you like the vibe of a craft fair that was generic and sterile? Keep it Human is a good motto to stick with.

I would pay for Etsy to start banishing sellers of fakes and counterfeits. Etsy is flooded with fake gems in jewelry pretending to be the real thing--all complaints pointing this out ignored by Etsy.

I would do this in a split second. Higher in search? Count me in. Etsy optimization? Yes please. Notice of an unwarranted shop closure coming? Yes! $40 is a very small amount of money for the potential benefit. Tax write off as well.

YES, YES, AND F'NG YES! Etsy wants us to provide top-of-the-line customer support. This is how they can do the same for their customers. I especially like items 3-6 hands down. 1, and 7-9 are good also.
