You might need to fix the fan spindle before it takes out your radiator?
@JustaFewAcresFarm
@JustaFewAcresFarm Жыл бұрын
To clarify, when the bolt is loose on the fan spindle for tensioning the belt, the fan is free to wiggle back and forth, until the bolt is tightened again. Also, the water pump is not behind the fan, it is below the alternator to the side of the engine. I checked everything for play while I had the belt off, and everything is fine.

My father passed away 5 years ago at 94. He spotted an old model T in a field and kept asking about it until the guy sold it to him. Load it up and back to the farm. In the Grand Lake Area of Oklahoma word got out Dad was looking for parts, here they came. Being a machinist, welder, fabricator, it was going to run again. My brother had a fit when he welded up the holes on the Chevrolet wheels and re-drilled them to fit the Ford. Dad tried to explain the same factory made both wheels,, according to my brother he ruined it. Of course when he put electric starter and a distributor that finished it off. Dad had a lot of fun with it and that was all that was important. There is a car museum in Senica, Missouri. I stopped one day with Dad and admired the cars. Dad walked down the line of cars and told what parts he had "made" for each and everyone of them! Some times you just have to get it running again. Enjoy your videos. Retired GM mechanic.

Good to have you aboard. As I'm older than Pete and his bride, just his style and no bull roar approach is just wonderful. As I think back (yes, old people tell a lot of stories because we've been there when history was made) as the clean up guy for a garage I had my leg pulled some for things that I wouldn't know anything about. Not knowing about the battery for a large truck being under the floor boards was the source of joy for one old farmer when I asked him where it was. "It's got a magneto" he said. In the words of Bill Engval: Here's your sign! In watching Pete you will never get that level of kidding. Just the greatest of dad jokes to accompany his daily near expert tutilage and cheerful disposition.

What I like about you and your videos. You restore your tractors and equipment then make them happy by putting them back to work instead of letting them only be looked at. They were built to work and that’s what they love to do. I grew up on a on a 1947 Farmall Cub and a believe it was a 1958 Farmall H. The H was one year younger than me. Best days of my life.

Hey Pete, another go rear video!:) On the street I live on I know of three classic cars that sit in their respective garages until the rare trip to a car show. I've been restoring old jeeps and trucks since I retired 12 yrs ago. Everyone was built to be driven. Single wire alternators, single wire HEI distributors and if I could afford it, TB fuel injection. The fun is in driving them!!:) Thanks again:)

Ain't that the story, every time you go to put a simple bracket on for the alternator, you have to take the entire tractor apart to get the bracket to drill a hole in for the alternator to adjust out. I appreciate those old tractors now more than I did when I was a young man, the simplicity of them and the low cost on maintaining them is at the top of my list. I also agree with you, first thing for me is for it to work, my 1963 Massey Ferguson 65 is a work in process for me. I will get it running first then the cosmetics can come along later as needed. Nice video, I enjoyed it, thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great week and weekend too.

I've done a couple of these conversations and I've been quite satisfied with the results. Quicker starts means less stress on the starter. And the lights are better with the 12v bulbs installed. I used a standard 60 amp Delcotron with internal regulation. Easy hookup but the one wire thing makes it a breeze. This modification will make this little tractor much more useful.

My uncle was a carpenter and was home during the day lots of times and had Internationals and would have me with him working on the farm. Starting, and Seeing the amp meter of the tractor takes me back to the early 1960s starting my uncle’s tractor and the many fond memories of that time. Of course, it was still a 6v system back then.

My Grandfather has a 1939 ford 9n and the tractor is original other than the tires and a few small things. It was left to my dad when my grandfather died 13 years ago but it has been sitting for 15 years. Me and my father hope to dig it out of the ‘boat house’ a barn in the woods and restore the tractor. My uncle who is older than my father always talks about how they always had problems with the generator and the battery would be dead almost every time they went to start it after working the tractor for the day. My uncle says we must change it over to a alternator or we might as well not even bother doing the tractor over. Great video as normal Pete. 👍

And I agree with your comment from the first video about the parts not being as good as the originals! I think the one's now are for loading and unloading for a show, not for using all day in the field! I have a 100, M and a 274 diesel and this has been my experience as well!
