Mayhem 4 isn't overly difficult, but I think they need to raise the drop rate on gear in M4. It says it's gone up to 700% but I'm really not seeing it.

AGREED. I hope Gearbox remembers that not everyone enjoys multiplayer, it would be nice if things like the Takedown could toggle to a scale that solos could enjoy, without loosing out on the best loot drop percentages.

How to make the Takedown better for solo players: decrease the number of enemies, add a checkpoint right before Wotan (because it takes a long ass time to fight through the 8291 enemies we currently have from the checkpoint)

they allegedly fixed the cryo dmg to anointed enemies but the other day it randomly went back to not being able to damage them with cryo, which makes everything impossible with zane.

This wouldn't be a problem if every character is as strong as Amara, she really is becoming Salvador-esque at this rate

i would enjoy the whole "scaled to four players" thing if the matchmaking actually gave me three other players to play with and not only one other player.

I feel left out as well as a Solo player. Can't get new legendaries can't even try new content as I don't play 8 hrs a day and don't have a GOD build. But I do love the game. Just wish they would keep both sides happy.

Honestly I would say to people to wait until guardian ranks are activated again. If it’s still really limiting high end builds then they should lower by maybe 100-200 percentage so still a challenge compared to m3 but it’s not as difficult as now.

Yea man you nailed it. I'm still trashing most enemies. Killavolt was a slog though. Because he has a shield with shock immunity/resist.

I personally like that there is an area that is actually a challenge when I am playing with my friends. The game is a cake walk if you are in a group before this point.

One issue is m4 is that you need to be locked in to certain builds to kill things efficiently For ex: snipers (including Lyuda) are pretty ineffective, another ex: running a crit build fl4k that is not using lump and terror is a no-go. M4 imo unfortunately locks you to certain builds, almost all solo m4 runs are now reliant on cutpurse tediore reloads

It's not hard, it's tedious and not fun at all. Borderlands should be fun, even on challenging difficulties and in challenging activities. Mayhem 4 is way overtuned, and they should have just waited until their "Mayhem 2.0" update.

I mostly don't mind M4 but thete's an exception: Two of the new class mods (for Fl4k and Zane) only drop on M4 and the only place they drop outside of the Takedown is from certain Trials bosses. When everything has 5 times the health it had in the previously hardest difficulty, having only a limited amount of time to beat an area only to fight a boss who has a pretty slim chance of dropping what you want can be pretty annoying.

I just wished they would bring slag back. That is what made UVHM and the OP levels actually playable in BL2.

Forced multiplayer scaled content is the bane of my existence, it always has terrible longevity and suffers from bad matchmaking. However long out from launch, once everybody's had their fill and lost interest, its impossible to find randoms anymore because players don't typically revisit raids often. Down here on bad ANZ internet & matchmaking as well, in BL3 I can go hours on public without a single person joining my game. When I used to play Warframe it was exactly the same, and that's with it being F2P and having thousands upon thousands of concurrent players.

The maliwan takedown I did solo on mayhem 1 and it took me hours. I got killed so much but oddly that made it rewarding for me, so I’d say I like the difficulty

my biggest dislike about this update is not the difficulty, but why is there no group respawn point before the Wotan fight? If a player is outed any time between the Valkyrie and Wotan, they should respawn in the room before the Wotan battle imo. Almost all my Raid runs have resulted in 1 person being left alive to kill him on his own, and failed.

I tryed the maliwan takedown on normal mode without any mayhem mode and was even able to reach the valkyries! Its stupidly hard and you really need an almost god like build for that crap...

In my opinion, Mayhem 4 isn’t difficult IF you have the right build. Amara and Moze are broke right now. The issue is that fact that it’s not rewarding enough and most of the easy ads have turned into literal sponges. It’s just tedious right now. And another thing is that Gearbox is focusing on nerfing and balancing stuff instead of fixing the game. Guardian Ranks are not working right now, the menu is still laggy, frame rate issues are still present, people are still getting kick in multiple-player, match making isn’t working for everyone, and the raid still isn’t balanced for soloing. Your mileage may vary.

I wish the Black Site would scale with how many players. I don’t want this game to become anything like destiny

Awesome way for 2 players: Player 1 is Zane with digiclone, using the facepuncher while switching with the clone so he has the gun in his hands. Pair this with A cutpurse artefact and you and your teammate never run out of ammo again The second player should play as flak or amara with a very strong tediore shotgun build, maybe player 1 (zane) should do this too. We managed to get to wotan in less than 20 minutes on mh4 a few times now. But however, we never finished this little fuckhead. Wotan is by far the most powerful raid so far in the borderlands series

I fell the difference, from Bl2 with OP10+UVH, Use Slag easy. But BL3 with M4+TVH Use OP Guns but Nerf. This is not Maliwan takedown, its Vault Hunter Takedown. (Sorry my english)

Raids have always been designed for a full team of players with extremely good builds, not just in borderlands but in every game that has them, this is borderlands first true raid and I'm happy they did it this way

As a difficulty, no, it's not harder. I find myself actually going into FFYL less than I do in m3. It just takes three to four times as long to kill a particular mob than it does in m3.

I've solo'ed Heck on Mayhem 4 twice. Granted, Haunt isn't the strongest of bosses to begin with, but with the right build/gear I definitely agree that it can be easier than M3. (I used a Night Hawkin, Brainstormer, Conference Call, Roided Gast Call, Re-Router, and a legendary COM that gives a ton of points to Infusion for my Ties That Bind/Stillness of Mind Amara build. It wasn't super difficult, just took forever. The Conference Call just freaking melts Haunt with this build without Mayhem.)

The problem isnt the difficulty. It's the overreliance on anointed gear.

my biggest compliant about the Maliwan Blacksite raid is the respawn point allocation. In my opinion, there should be more respawn points added to allow the players to regroup. Two respawn points in particular are before the Valkyrie Squad and before Wotan.

I think the main down side to mayhem 4 is gearbox wanted to add diversity to the amount of builds per vault hunter but the enemy’s have way to much health for that to work now. Everybody is just using the same builds because they are the only ones that work on mayhem 4

I have not yet watch this video but before I watch it I just want to say that I am on m4 now and I just started a new game+ with a level 50 siren. So far I've made it to Promethea with the Fist of Elements skill tree almost fully leveled up with a few skill points sprinkled into different classes and it's sort of manageable with some headache inducing situations hear and there.

Ya know what’s too hard? Tolerating that this game is still broken in so many ways, while Gearbox only seems to have time for hotfix nerfs, month-long events, and new DLC. I still have broken weapons menus, missing audio at parts of the game, broken mission objectives, and terrible optimization. I agree, glad they are listening to the community.....but shit, FIX THE GAME!! Sucks, because I’ve been waiting for fixes in order to keep playing, but every time I check, no luck.

THANK YOU for saying that the raid should scale to solo as well as team play. Solo-only player here: older guy, only one char (Moze), guardian rank just 110. I have no gaming friends (not BL3 anyway) and for numerous reasons I'm not interested in LFG. I previously played Destiny 2 (it was more single-player friendly than D1), but immediately quit for BL3 because of all the D2 content (raids) and top-tier gear that was only accessible by l33t teams. Now that this same thing has happened to BL3, I'm thinking of bailing (Outer Worlds, maybe). Right now I have a tough time in MH3 so I've been trying to farm better gear (MIRV Hex would be nice), but now there's MH4 -- and worse, MH4-only gear, plus the Takedown raid that killed me pretty quickly even at Normal/No Mayhem. Takedown matchmaking is a joke, but even if that was fixed I hate the respawn rules. I came to BL3 because it was single-player friendly, so it's a slap in the face that BL3 wants to be like D2 and other games that restrict certain content and loot to skilled teams (or top 1% l33t solo players). Of course there should be difficulty levels for everyone -- MH4, MH5, whatever they want to add to challenge the best of the best. OTOH it's totally lame to have gear and content that's only available at the top difficulty levels. FalloutPlays made a great argument about D2 awhile back. He said that top gear such as the Malfeasance gun should be available to everyone -- eventually. Meaning: L33t groups could always get the best toys first by farming the raid, but average solo players like me should also be able to get it if they were dedicated enough to do some serious grinding. Yes, that means that Malfeasance would eventually become uncool once everyone else finally got it, but by then some new DLC would be released and top players would have newer, shinier trophies to show off.

I'd say yes, especially if you try to do the Maliwan black site. I tried to solo it. Way too many enemies when I get to a boss area. Hell even if I get onto matchmaking to get a group we end up dying long before we even get to the boss, due to... well my team sucking ass. And honestly it made me so frustrated with the game that i just decided to quit playing borderlands 3. Cant even participate in the new content cause it's too fucking hard. And i have the fucking meta weapons, but the furthest I can get is to wotan, i can eat through his shields then when the heavies begin to spawn i can get through half his armor, at which point the hordes of heavies finally kill me...this happens every goddamn time. Not even gonna bother with this game right now when they have hordes, and hordes of enemies attacking you, on top of having to deal with the boss

but borderlands 2's bank spaces were exclusive to individual characters. each save file had it's own seperate bank storage so if the max size was 30 slots, that's 30x the number of save files you have. the 4 slot secret stash was the only way to transfer items across saves

I agree with the 4-player scaling part, I don't like that either. But my biggest problem with the raid is, that when playing, and someone else joins through matchmakinhøg, the game randomly resets the run completely, and sometimes players are left to spectate, never to join, and the door at the beginning wont open unless everyone commits suicide with explosives

Mayhem 4 is easy but it is still not worth doing if you're farming. Farming is usually meant to be quick and repeatable, so if your build isn't broken, M4 will be the anti-farming mode for you. M3 may have annoying modifiers but bosses are a cake-walk if your build is generally decent (and the loot chance difference between M3 and M4 isn't super noticeable in some cases). The only reasons to play M4 is: 1 - Farming M4-exclusive gear 2 - Testing out your build/loot 3 - If you just want a challenge In terms of the Takedown, I don't know what people expected. It's a free 4-player raid with 4-player difficulty. Borderlands as a whole is meant to be played with other people, so I'm personally not surprised (and this is coming from a fellow solo too). Now, that's not to say solo play should be ignored. But if something is too difficult alone, go together. I would only see this mandatory 4-player difficulty as a problem if Wotan/Takedown-exclusive loot never resurfaces into the base game with no alternative. Either way whether it stays at 4-player difficulty or changes to 2-player difficulty in the future, solo play is supposed to be discouraged in this mode. That's why when we see someone complete the raid solo, we're surprised.

Oh Mayhem 4 IS DIFFICULT, When you encounter like 6 anointed in the first two areas you're running through. And they are backed by badass rocket launchers.

Totally agree I'm a solo player just like I was in Destiny 1 and 2 and its pretty frustrating especially when you have to start all over if you die,just like the old nightfalls in Destiny.

The jump between mayhem 3 and 4 is too much. Plus the extra health to enemies turns them into bullet sponges and you run out of ammo so quickly when fighting MOBS. I can’t imagine going through lectra city on M4

I think I agree with everything you just said. I have one thing, I kinda wish that the enemy health on M4 was 750 instead of 850 for the sole purpose that then all three health bars would be 5X M3.

I’ve actually waited an hour for a match made group on PC.. Got a group of 4 people, the host died by the first boss push.. Then just left after saying, f-this, I can’t be revived... We raised him 5 times, because he kept standing still during the mini bosses red targets mortars bombardment, and said there was no way to out run it.. 😌 I’m always looking for people to play BL3 on PC. I agree it's not that bad but the HP buffs to enemies are little too severe. 800% armour and shields and 600% health would be fine imo. And still challenging

To be honest, M4 seems to be the right direction when it comes to difficulty. I like linear upscale in difficulty rather than the game dictating the your build or your guns are useless on a whim.

I’m going to let you all know Mayhem Mode simply requires anointments. That’s being said Amara’s anointments are definitely the strongest at off setting the difficulty spike. Lack of Guardian ranks doesn’t help either. And Maliwan Takedown is NOT made for single player. You can cheese it but at the end of the day it’s not made for that until it’s nerfed for solo play.

It’s wouldn’t be as hard if they didn’t nerf everything into the ground.

They should've done what borderlands 2 had... weapons damage scaled to the current OP lvl. Instead of scaling, enemies become bullet sponges.

I will say numbers wise, regardless of if you get rebuffed into the group on Mayham 3 Mayham 4 is still harder because it’s several times the health, armor, shields.

This would be really fun if I could ever get 4 people to do the takedown with me. The matchmaking is so slow that I always get pigeon-holed into 2-man play, and then we just both quit. I wish there was a way to make it so you don't load into the takedown until 4 players have joined the same team.

Depends on what you mean by "too hard." If you mean hard where it should be beatable, I'd argue "well, it's an updated hard mode, harder than the last hardest. Shouldn't it be?" Personally, the dummy could have more options as well. Got a weapon that has a perk that works on kills and some perks work only on frozen enemies. Also never understood blast radius numbers, assuming it's centimeters or something. 400 = 4 meters.

Mayhem 4 is Easy, Says the guy who plays borderlands for a living.... played through all the Mayhems modes and so far the anointment's are the key to SOME success, but with so many shite ones for anyone other that Amara it becomes a fight against RNG for the other vault hunters and that's really not a challenge to me The character updates are nice but can we get them to function please and not break other parts of the Vault hunters......As for the target dummy, it sucks, no tracking for Atlas guns, no ability targeting for unmanned skills, and no kill skill triggering to really test builds the Pre-sequal had the best range in Borderlands history why would they not just do it again?

Yeah I hadn't played BL3 since a couple of weeks after it's launch and I jumped back in and noticed that Iron bare was doing a ton of damage, although I think Iron bare was useful enough as a emergency do not die button.

Main issue i'm having with mayhem 4 is the even less lack of variation of guns and builds you can use.

Maliwan Takedown on M4 is built four players, but the problem is that there are never 4 players that want to go through that nightmare. Especially when the loot is so unrewarding. I've only been able to solo it successfully on mayhem 1 and I was almost out of ammo by the time Wotan fell. No way I would have had enough ammo (I mainly use shotguns and ARs) to complete it on M2 by myself. However, this was before the Ion Cannon was introduced ...

It was very hard especially trying the melee siren build. Had to get rid of it and go back to the one with elemental damage

I like the OP system of bl2. That’s why i have a issue with the mayhem levels of BL3. Additionally the 1000% buff to enemy’s was a big ass jump. On top of the glitches and bugs that came with the update 🙄. The no respawn in the raid is ridiculous. That needs a timer ⏱ like a 1-3 minute respawn timer, but not being able to respawn at all is ridiculous. P.S Those anointed bastards that throw that floating ball that can’t be destroyed.....why gearbox, i ask you why? All in all i enjoy the challenge but it’s a lit to much because 90 percent of the BL community plays solo. So that needs to be a major factor when making these types of challenges

Also lets not forget how the Maliwan Takedown has no checkpoint before a multi phase boss fight forcing you to inevitably go through the entire second half of the Takedown just to get another shot.
