the balloon in the back of the car was to show that IT had control over the adults in the car and that's why they didn't help Ben when he was being attacked by the bullies. The reason the adults don't do anything throughout the entire movie is because IT has control over the entire town. That's why they can't see the blood or the balloon in the library, why the old lady doesn't help Georgie, or why the adults don't help Ben when he's being attacked. That's also why Georgie doesn't immediately run away when he sees pennywise. He's basically hypnotizing him with the smell of the circus like when he mentions that he smells the popcorn

I guess that is why Bill's parents, or dad wants Billy to let the thing with Georgie go because IT was afraid Billy would find out his hiding spot, and thats why the dad is pissed at Billy when he showed him the "Sewer Tunnels"?

It does'nt neccesarily have "control" over the adults. The adults are more or less just too skeptical to imagine that the crazy stuff that happens in thier town is being perpetrated by a shapeshifting entity. The balloon was only visible to Ben, it signified his fear of not being helped out by the adults when he was clearly in distress.

Fucking Christ, I noticed that in the theater and I was fucking creeped out to the max. That whole sequence in the library was so unsettling. The best part is that no one in the movie notices and the movie doesn't even bother to acknowledge it. It was very well done. I was also the only one watching it in the theater. That definitely added to the experience.

Thank you! I watched the movie with friends and my ex girlfriend and I was the only one to notice the librarian. It fucks me up to this day. The amount that pennywise shows up in the background of the movie is insane. For example: when the losers club is fixing up the new kid in the ally, there’s art on the wall of a gangster murder act or something from the beginning of the town. Anyways there’s a car on the wall and pennywise’s face is poking out from underneath the car. Just little shit like that which shows the death grip that pennywise has on the town is fucking brilliant.

I haven't gotten out to the theater to see this yet but I read the book seven times so I can speak from that. It's not so much that Children fear more, its that Children have less abstract, cynical fear, their fear is more pure because they believe more strongly. This makes them easier to feed on, but their belief also give them power to hurt It because they can if they believe they can. It's almost like adults, whose belief is worn and faded, are out of phase with It, able to be influenced but not directly interact. He makes adults look the other way, makes them more probe to violence or apathy. Also, the reason he picks out the losers club to prey on is because, before they came together to fight it, their loserdome isolated them.

The thing about Pennywise is that his influence over Derry is massive and as somewhat control over all the parents in Derry it's why the adults in Derry don't seem to care about the disappearances. Pennywise has corrupted all of Derry to and extent which is why when they have to go back the fight will be even harder. The car scene was meant to show that Pennywise is influencing adults in an extent which is why they drove pass Ben when he was getting bullied by the buillies

So I'll just give you some quick info on Patrick. Book spoilers ahead. In the book, Patrick is the most disgusting, evil creature. He's worse than IT. He's a sociopath. As a child he suffocates his infant brother in his sleep. As a teen he catches cats and dogs from the neighborhood and locks them alive in freezers so they suffocate. That scene traumatized me as a teen when I read it. In the book he actually sexually molests Henry at one point. But he's afraid of bugs, and that's how hes killed. A swarm of bugs eats him alive. I really do wish they had kept his character in the movie. It gave this subtle message that monsters aren't what you should fear, but normal living people.
@Lillian.Gao.
@Lillian.Gao. 6 жыл бұрын
In this movie, they do allude to his homoeroticism.. as he licks his lips when Bill and friends first walk past the Bullies in the school hallway. It's more a nod than an indication of actual character traits but I'm glad they didn't go into all the details of his sociopathy-- it would have been so distracting from the main kids' stories and from Pennywise.
@deadbynightupbylunch

It wasn’t bugs he was afraid off it was leeches and the fear became these flying leeches that would fly on him to drain him of his blood. No matter how many he tried to rip off his skin their needle like heads would still be buried in his skin, still draining him off his blood. Really messed up. But probably not as messed up as his eventual death at the hands of Pennywise who was eating him whilst he was still barely alive.

I will admit something stupid that I used to be afraid of. You are free to make fun of me. I was afraid of a certain pillow. It was the shape of a heart, and it had hands. I imagined every night that it would strangle me, or choke, or suffocate me. When it was dark, in my minds' eye it seemed as if its' hands or fingers moved. You could be afraid of silly things as a child.

When you're a kid, the worst thing to feel is alone. If you're me, it becomes scarier with age. If you're anyone that feels it throughout your entire life, it can be what kills you. Being alone is the root of all fear because no matter what it is, you fear that you won't have help to face it and you know that when you have help you have a real chance to win the fight.

This is the first review from ya'll that I've ever watched and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation style discussion and review especially coming from different view points and unlike other review shows YOU GUYS DONT TALK OVER ONE ANOTHER AND LET EACH OTHER FINISH YOUR GODDAMN THOUGHTS. It's my biggest pet peeve with other reviewers I enjoy, they all started correcting/expounding on aspects of another thought before it's all completely out and then it's like "no that's not what I meant"/"what was I talking about again?" And it's so infuriating. But you all made me think a lot about this movie and layers to childhood, fear and the movie itself I never even thought about. It's refreshing to hear people come up with theories and their own conclusions indicating the movie made them THINK. So many people harp on the "I didn't get this [scare/scene/moment], I wish the movie explained it (in painstakingly specific details because I don't feel like dissecting the choices used in this piece to give me more insight )" so... Yeah sorry for my rant, but I really enjoyed this. Keep doing what you're doing!! 👏👏👏🎈

The reason Pennywise chooses Georgie as Bill's fear is because Bill is afraid that Georgie is dead, so by showing him Georgie and then kind of yanking the string every time Bill gets near him, Bill's fear of losing his brother all over again, even though he's so close, is realized again. But yes also Pennywise is a huge douche LMAO.

I heard that the parents not really doing much to protect the kids or getting involved, or Pennywise sort of concealing what's really happening was suppose to be a metaphor, for that time in every child's life when they start to realize that their parents wont always be able to protect you. When you start to have to look out for yourself. Plus, one of the themes was that Pennywise was weaker when they were all together, because when you know your friends are there you seem to be less afraid. The lack of adults and their own personal issues forced them to rely on themselves and each other.

I feel like Henry killed the other bullies. Cause after he killed his dad, the program on the tv was yelling at him to 'kill them all' and then he shows up at the well on his own. Idk if this is right, but i feel like the car was one of his friends, not Henry's, because we see one of the other guys driving it at the beginning. Also, I'm not sure if i'm remembering correctly, but i felt like Henry showed up at the well with more blood on him than before? So i think he ended up killing the other 2 and then stealing the car. Could be totally wrong, but those are my thoughts

Bullet Blaze when the programme said kill them all IT was talking about the losers not his friends. Bowers went straight to the Barracks afterwards because Pennywise was manipulating him. His friends were background characters so they didn't bother to focus on them so much. Bowers was already at home so it's more likely that his friends left when he went inside his house and killed his dad. They saw he was upset when his dad humiliated him and made him piss himself.

The tower of floating bodies reminded me of the final scene in true detective season 1. Also maybe I'm wrong but I took it as before the main bully showed up to kill the kids he had killed his friend by the car. Cause the tv show he saw with IT told him to kill them all. What Rick said early in the video, about saving him for later. One of the most common horror movie conventions "don't show the shark," is not all that applicable to this movie, because as they say, he keeps changing form. There's a very good reason why IT is scared of our Losers.. The movies don't get into it at all, but the book touches it heavily especially the ending. The turtle references are the stepping stones getting to the underlying reason why IT not only hates them but is scared of them as a group.

You guys really need to read the novel and rewatched the 1990 miniseries. The movie is not remake it's straight adptation from the novel. I loved the movie and my grade is 10/10. The theme is coming-of-age and dealing with terrifying experiences.

You guys might just be my favorite reaction/review channel. I watch a lot of reactors, but you guys are the only channel i watch even when im not interested in the actual content. Keep up the good work, guys! Oh yea, i think the new It was an better overall movie than the 90s adaptation, but i enjoy currys Pennywise more. Idk if that makes sense, but i hope someone knows what i mean. Lol. I just think currys version of it was scarier. I the only advantage i give skarsgard version is during transformations when he exposes his teeth. Those scenes, plus the score, are easily some of the scariest shit ive ever seen. Georgie/It talking to ben before the final battle was also disturbing. Those scenes are the only time i can ever remember feeling that unsettled by a movie.

My favorite part of the movie was the TV. The entire time the movie is going on, every time you hear something on the TV it references the well, the sewers, the clown. And only at the end of the movie, is it blatant. It was just a cool nod to the fact Pennywise was always watching/listening.

The thing you have to understand is that Pennywise's presence has corrupted and clouded the minds of the town with fear and malevolence. Pennywise feeds on fear, so it causes its prey terror, and it creates a terrifying hostile world to generate more fear. That's why so many of the parents are so abusive, and why the bullies are homicidal, and why people don't even NOTICE or stop the horrific things happening in the town. Pennywise turned Derry into a victim factory to provide it fearful and terrorized prey.

I thought the kids gave me a Dreamcatcher vibe. They felt very similar. Also, the ass-blasters from Dreamcatcher also reminded me of the real teeth of IT. The 3 lights are the Dead Lights. IT uses them to entrance victim's into a stasis state.

Is there any correlation between the red/blood "V" in the IT movie and something? The only thing I think of when I saw it was the old TV show "Visitors". It was shown on the kids broken arm cast renaming "Loser" to "LoVer" and then at the end with the chicks (sorry forget her name) bloody hand in a "V" position on the left cheak of the kids face.

I'm not sure if they read the comments but I'll try to clear some stuff up if they didn't understand as well. - I think they already know this but "It" is an entity almost as old as time itself. It's true form was seen towards the end of the movie when it has Beverly and opens its mouth and you see the 3 lights (Deadlights). Like Eric said, it's a shapeshifter, he takes on the form of whatever the people fear the most. Richie and the room full of clowns, Stan and the lady in the painting, Eddie and the zombie or "walking infection", etc. - "It" takes the form of a clown because it's an easy way to lure children, which is what he prefers to eat. Or if you're scared of clowns, then that's just putting more fear into you then. - There's a theory going around (if it wasn't already confirmed but it's heavily hinted at) that "It" is influencing the people of the city that there is nothing wrong at all. Like what he did with Henry Bowers when he was on the TV. That's why Beverly's dad couldn't see the blood, he's in his mind and convinced him that there's nothing wrong. I feel like there were other things but I don't remember what they were or at what point in the video they talked about them. Good review though, I like hearing your guys opinions and thoughts on tv shows and movies.

Interesting point about Eddie's mom being overprotective out of fear, might have to do with something she went through as a child, either caused or exacerbated by IT to isolate and terrify Eddie.

I just want to write that my name is Josh and i want to write that the director Andy Muschietti said that he wanted to create an IT Supercut that would be the two IT films edited together with all the footage that was cut out of the theatrical cuts edited back in. the running time of the IT Supercut would be 6 hours and 30 minutes. if this were to happen then maybe they could make it available to stream on the service HBOMAX.

I haven't seen anyone talk about Elizabeth Olsen as an adult for Beverly. To me, Sophi (the kid actress) has almost the exact same face as Elizabeth. I'm surprised no one even brought her up as a choice.

Flo I prefer Amy Adams. In fact even in the movie there is the scene when the pharmacist says to Beverly that she looks like Louis Lane and she smiles. Maybe coincidence or maybe she knows something we don't since Amy Adams plays Louis Lane in the latest Superman movies. I think it's intentional and Amy Adams is their first choice for adult Bev but we shall see. I only say this because Louis Lane doesn't traditionally have red hair like Bev and does not in the universe which the IT movie takes place but Shyniders Current Louis Lane, played by Amy Adams has red hair.

Derry is wrong is a popular way to phrase the horrors that go on in the book and the non populated town is more than likely a great way for the movie to show that.

I think the scariest part for me was the entire library/headless scene. Random facts/tidbits: - The Georgie in the basement _was actually_ Georgie, and Pennywise was using him like a hand puppet. That's why he deteriorates so quickly to his dead body. - When Ben was looking at the book, you see the librarian just standing still, staring at him. - Pennywise's true form is a bunch of lights called "Deadlights".

Rewatched the film yesterday, and gotta say I had a better watching experience than the first time. The kid actors are all really good, though I wish they all had as much screen time. Because unfortunately some had more than others. But that is understandable considering it is a film and not a tv show. BUt even with less screen time apparantly as an actor you can proof yourself if your good or not. So the acting of especially the kids was for me really the highlight of the film. Aside from that their backgrounds were also really well written. And that all helped very much to like all the characters. Though I have to admit that Ritchie was my favorite! He was so funny. What I am less satisfied with, and this didnt change in my second viewing was my opinion on Pennywise the Clown. The way he talked and walked was just so weird to me, it was more funny than it was scary. He also didnt really had one scary scene. At least not in my opinion. He did it in his own unique way and that is something I respect a lot about an actor. Even though I didnt love and like his performance. Still a 7/10 to me. Very excited to find out who the adult actors will be.

Also pennywise is not human. People have said that he is not even from the same dimension and that he has powers that you only saw half of in the movie. But pennywise does have a weakness to whatever he shape-shift to pennywise will have there weakness. Also one of his powers is to control adults lifes so in chapter 2 I want to know how are they going to do anything if they are all controlled?
