Iyanla Vanzant Finally Reveals Why She Left Oprah’s TV Show.
Iyanla’s losses engineered by the host ran deeper than just losing her spot on one of the biggest shows, it ate deeply into her finances. As someone with experience hosting and a decent amount of notoriety, she was unable to land a spot on any show and failed at her own. It is also worth mentioning that all these things happened at a time when she had suffered losing some dear lives around her.

Oprah forced Iyanla to apologize to her publicly on her show. She is jealous of Black women who are more talented and more respected than her. She expects them to bow down to her and sing her praises. When they go against her then they suffer.

I remember in the Oprah interview, Iyana was talking about how she wanted the Harpo network to offer her her own show and a contract so Iyana could take her work off the Oprah show and stand alone. Oprah replied that Iyana wasn’t capable of holding up her own show and Oprah knew what was best for Iyana but Iyana didn’t want to accept reality. It was a really cruel thing to say. That’s why she left the Oprah show and went on her own journey, and she was hugely successful. Her live speeches and workshops were really popular. I don’t think Iyana did anything wrong. She always wanted to work with Oprah, it was Oprah who was the bitch.

I watched that 2part show. Back then Oprah would have Iyanla, Dr Phil, Rachel Ray and Ty Pennington on. She would sit in the audience and let them run the show; giving them access to her world wide audience and gain their following. They all blew up. This what I remember from that 2part show. One day, Iyanla blindsided Oprah in a meeting with attorneys and papers ready to sign. Iyanla told Oprah that somebody big in the industry wanted to get her on, give her a show. So Oprah said go for it, she didn't want to stand in her way. People think the "somebody" big in the industry is Barbara Walters and anyway Iyanla got her show. They had her in wigs, weaves, heels, loud colors and her show flopped. I think mainly because Iyanla was not being herself, not the person people were used to seeing. Iyanla lost money, her home and sadly her daughter passed and she went into deep depression. I don't recall how they reconnected, but they went on Oprah and talked about it. Iyanla wanted to say she didn't know how Oprah really felt about her and if Oprah really liked her. Oprah said "if I didn't like you, I wouldn't have given you my platform", and reminded Iyanla how she sat in the audience. Oprah told her she felt like that meeting was a shakedown; with Iyanla bringing lawyers there and had papers ready for her to sign. Iyanla said she felt that Oprah didn't fight to keep her. Oprah reminded Iyanla that she said somebody big was gonna help her and if that person could do more for her than she could, so she stepped aside. Iyanla wanted to play victim but Oprah didn't let her get away with it. It seemed to me that Oprah was gonna help Iyanla get back in the industry but was not gonna be the bad guy and have people thinking she was responsible for what happened to her. I don't think it would be fair to say that Oprah hindered or injured Iyanla in any way.

@@atlanticstarr3457Iyanla told this story herself and included it in one of her books (I think Peace from Broken Pieces). I find it so sad and unfortunate that so much effort and vitriol is spent trying to knock Oprah down. She’s done and continues to do so much for humanity. She’s not and has never claimed to be an angel. But, hell she’s does so much more than most with her level of wealth and influence. Iyanla teaches us to fix ourselves - by the way her Fix My Life show was the second chance Oprah gave her after her disastrous stint with Barbara Walters. Rewind. Okra (and her team) found out that Iyanla had a new book out. In her eyes she "made sure she'll never work again" she asked Iyanla ( in the expression - how do you have a new book !?) Iyanla told her that Tavis Smiley published and distributed it. Then when Iyanla was invited back on the show 11 years later the story before the interview showed Iyanla in the back yard feeding pet chickens in a baren yard (winter) and even Iyanla joked your staff picked the worse video of me. It was staged to look like she was groveling because she lost her house to foreclosure and had to rent a small house with family. Okra offered to give her a show on her OWN channel (that never succeeded and until this day okra only has like 2% ownership). Okra was desperate because she was losing money big time. Iyanla's show was a hit but I think each year at renewal the salary was the same or likely went down. Notice Iyanla bowed out.

Evidence of extreme sociopath narcissist. Hey Oprah - what if Iyanla becomes more popular than you? Wouldn't you love that? Somebody is going to see her value - and give her a chance to help Black women. Something you don't seem to want to do. Your new name is "Karen".

I never understood people like that. Like, there's room for anyone that can make it. Truth be told Oprah by that time probably was already a billion or on her finishing way to being one,so why be greedy and block off your own. This why we are where we are and the other grou ahead a a community unlike ours. Nothing wrong with some healthy competition. I hate we as a people still have this gate keeper mentality

One lesson we need to take away is this proverb… Or sage advice… Agree with your advice very quickly… The problem is because we are so familiar with the Miss old persona… We think we know her personally…… And we are just finding out who she really is and sometimes when you are so taken with the persona you overlook the personality… I can’t wait for the movie

Why are these old interviews from 2011? I don’t see any current interviews where she’s slamming Oprah. I feel like this is a click bait website trashing people for views. Had I known this was recycled garbage I wouldn’t clicked on it. She said why she quit doing her show. Why aren’t you telling the truth? She was on Tamron Hall show which can be found on KZfaq and said she quit her show because she was getting death threats from twisted fans and she was sick of it. So she made the decision to end the show. But now she has a new TV show on Oprah’s OWN network called “Fear Not” and there are episodes you can watch. If her and Oprah were hating, she wouldn’t have a new show on the air. She also on “X” the social media platform and always says if she has something to say about anything, she’ll tell it to you. There is no evidence anywhere since 2011 where she recently slammed Oprah. Until there is, I’m going to avoid these sites looking to grabs views to make a profit off madness. I’m already mad at Oprah for some other 💩she’s done but I’m not going to add Iyana to that list until I hear it from her where she says something negative about Oprah in 2024. Not from video clips in the year 2011. She’s already discussed that part of her life. No need rehashing the past if there’s not something current in the year 2024. When you have that, than I’ll slam Oprah some more with factual statements.

She puts on whites but not black women unless u look like Halle Barry, Alicia Keyes or Beyonce. Maya Angelu had to call her out on her show when she was raving about Halle getting an Oscar for that sick movie Monsters Ball. That movie should have have rec'd and Oscar. Even Halle said it later. Maya told Oprah , "u know she's not one of us. The only reason she put Maya on was Maya had white connections and had to tell her off about Malcolm and Farrakhan. She said, those r my brothers". I would never talk about them or something similiar. Maya didn't mince words w her.

I just think Oprah thought process and approach at this stage in her career and even over the last 15 to 20 years she’s made it is big business for her so she was just a star and she expected a level of put on that might be understandable, but she is big business and she still asking people to sacrifice or control of talent. She has the platform and a power to be bigger than that and if she does want to control that narrative, she has a team she has agents production agents they need to move quickly to lock in her talenton the level she may what if she wants to produce them or whatever she wants to do but I just think it’s just power and control

Her boss, as her friend, should offer her full support and encourage her to take the offer because they couldn't afford to keep her, as her boss would've done the same, if she was in her shows. Insted privately she undermined Iyanla show behind the scene. Remember her favorite author "if someone shows who they are believe it" its about time people start believing because she has been showing for decades. No wonder her network failed as black people didn't support it as she took the $hit and apologized. How dare her to ask. It needed to be gifted, not earned.
